Science Presentation

The document provides an overview of Earth's four main systems: the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere, highlighting their roles and interactions. It discusses the benefits of each system, such as the biosphere's support for life and resources, the hydrosphere's role in nutrient cycling, and the atmosphere's protection and climate influence. Additionally, it explains the water cycle and the interactions between these systems, emphasizing their importance in shaping Earth's environment.

INTRODUCTION TO THE EARTH

SYSTEMS

Science Presentation

Presented by Ingrid, Hope,Kethia and Dolie.

WHAT ARE EARTH'S
SYSTEMS?
Earth is made up of four main systems: the geosphere, biosphere,
hydrosphere, and atmosphere. Each system plays a crucial role in how
our planet works. Let’s explore these systems and see how they interact
with each other. By learning about these systems and how they interact,
you can better understand the complex and fascinating world we live
in. Enjoy exploring and discovering the amazing connections in Earth’s
systems!
Biosphere.
is the region of the Earth where
life can be found including the
soil,water and air.

BENEFITS OF BIOSPHERE
-Biosphere reserves to contribute to the
region’s environmental,economic and social
sustainability.

-Biosphere provides essential resources like

food and water that humans rely on for their
survival.

-Biosphere supports various systems like

pollination and seed dispersal.
Hydrosphere
This refers to the water that is on the surface of the planet, underground and in
the air .
Every lake, ocean, river, glacier and even water vapor is part of the
hydrosphere.
Benefits of hydrosphere
The hydrosphere supports all life forms. It helps in some important processes of life.
It is a home to some organisms.
It is also a part of a living cell, the smallest unit of a living things.
Plays in an important role in cycling of nutrients, including nitrogen, carbon dioxide, phosphorous.
Facts about the hydrosphere
The hydrosphere covers the largst part of the arth, which is 71 %.
Most of the hydrosphere is salty, which is 97 %, only 3%is fresh water, for terrestrial
use.

Let’s watch this video for further information

THE ATMOSPHERE
The atmosphere is the layer of gases
surrounding Earth. It’s what we breathe and
what protects us from the sun’s harmful
rays. The atmosphere contains different
gases, including oxygen, nitrogen, and
water vapor.
ATMOSPHERE

Benefits of the atmosphere

-Protection from harmful solar radiatio

_ It supports water cycle
-It is a breathable air.
-It helps in weather and climate formation

Layers of the atmosphere

The atmosphere is made up of five main
layers, The video above will help us
explore more about the layers of
atmosphere .
GEOSPHERE
The Geosphere basically means the solid earth. It
is composed of rocks, hills, mountains ,trees etc.
Basically everything we see and can’t see that
surrounds us.

The Geosphere is a combination of all

the spheres creating the earth. The
spheres are atmosphere, biosphere, and
the hydrosphere

Examples are oceans, rivers, lakes,

hills, mountains,trees, plants, and
everything else in the earth’s
environment.

THE WATER CYCLE

The water cycle shows how water moves between the hydrosphere and the atmosphere.
