Hook: Nowadays, the number of house break-in and robbery cases in the Philippines

reached about five thousand in the past two years, this is based on www.statista.com. One
of the factors of the high percentage of robbery cases in the Philippines is because of the
security system and lack of advancement in biometrics.
Greetings: Good morning ladies and gentleman, to our dear panelist. I am Keith Lorraine

M. Lumbera together with George III R. Dimaunahan. We are here to present our science

investigatory project entitled Advancement in Biometric Security: Exploring the

Effectiveness of Fingerprint Lock Scanner

: As I mentioned a moment ago robbery cases here in our country are going rapidly

everyday, and base on the research studies it is due to lack in advancement in biometrics security,

that’s why we, the researchers come up with the idea to create a fingerprint lock scanner out of

Arduino uno, R307 fingerprint sensor, 12 volts Solenoid lock, 5 volts Relay module, 12

volts battery and Jump wires.

These are all used to make a fingerprint lock scanner. According to Emma, A. (2021).

Arduino is simple to use, it is also the main control chip on a finger sensor and other devices.

Arduino uno contains editorial codes for storing information’s, it also gives program or replace

information, Arduino is the main mechanical composition in fast prototyping. The Arduino is

known in the whole world for its usage, while the R307 fingerprint lock scanner has an

excellent DSP algorithm, stable performance, a simple structure, a picture processor, and

a fingerprint matching device . According to Mohanan, V. (2023), the R307 Finger Print

Sensor has a 500 Dpi resolution and a finger detection function. According to Scott, P.

(2023), The 12-volt Solenoid lock uses an electric coil that uses a magnetic field so it can

generate a linear motion. It's got a slug with a slanted cut and a good mountain bracket. DC

creates a magnetic that makes the slug go inside and keeps the door in an unlock position,

making it nearly unbreakable and escapable. Based to Ijariie, I. (2023) The 5 volts relay module
relay is an electronic component that allows you to control high-voltage and high-current devices

using a low-voltage signal. It typically consists of a small electromechanical relay and a driver

circuit that is used to switch the relay on or off using a digital signal from a microcontroller, such

as an Arduino, and According to Ashaduzzaman, C. (2020), lastly the 12 volts battery, It is

battery is a device that stores chemical energy and converts it to electrical energy, it

involves the flow of electrons from one material to another, furthermore 12 volts battery

can last for 2-4 years , because it contains diverse capacity, wattages , charging voltage

and many more. A 12 volts battery is expected to produce 12 volts od DC output. It will

continuously produce 12 volts of DC output until it is fully discharge.

So now let’s proceed to the purpose of this study, this research project aims to

help people to have a secured access control and authentication by using individual

unique fingerprint as a means of individual identification. This technology provides

strong way to ensure that only authorized individual gain access to their specific devices

and information’s thus the purpose of a fingerprint lock scanner is to provide a secure and

convenient method of authentication and access control and of course to produce a

durable, effective and safe finger print lock scanner.

to Its specifically aimed to respond the following questions:

1. Is the finger print lock scanner effective in terms of security?

2. Is the product durable?

3. Is the product safe?

The researchers formulated the following hypotheses to be tested:

Alternative Hypothesis (HA/H1)

1. The fingerprint lock scanner is safe.

2. The fingerprint lock scanner is effective as an authentication privacy.

3. The product is durable

Null Hypothesis (H0)

1. The fingerprint lock scanner is not safe.

2. The fingerprint lock scanner is not effective as an authentication privacy.

3. The product is not durable.

Now lets move on the methodology

In making the product, the researchers first gathered all the materials needed such

as: Arduino uno, R307 fingerprint sensor, 12 volts Solenoid lock, 5 volts Relay module,

12 volts battery and Jump wires. The experiment involved connecting the R307

Fingerprint Sensor to an Arduino Uno, connecting its VCC, GND, TX, RX, and relay

modules. The researchers connected the solenoid lock to a 12V battery, installed the

Adafruit Fingerprint Sensor library, and wrote an Arduino code for a fingerprint lock

system. Next, the researchers enrolled and compared stored fingerprints controlled the

relay module for solenoid lock activation, and tested fingerprint recognition.

Summary discussion: It uses a person's unique fingerprint patterns to verify their

identity and grant access to a device, application, or physical space. Fingerprint scanners

are widely used in smartphones, laptops, and other electronic devices, as well as in
security systems for buildings and restricted areas. They offer a higher level of security

compared to traditional password or PIN-based methods, as fingerprints are difficult to

replicate and are inherently tied to an individual's identity also fingerprint scanners offer

quick and seamless access.

So with that the researchers used a Quantitative data in order to rate the durability,

affordability and effectiveness. In order to test and rate the product, the researchers

surveyed 30 respondents from the SSC students of Leutebero National High School.

Based on the results and findings of the study upon experimentation the researcher concluded
that:

1. The fingerprint lock scanner is safe.

2. The product is effective as an authentication privacy.

3. The product is durable.

Based on the prior findings and result as well as the experience of the researchers in

finishing the project, the following recommendations were suggested:

1. Use proper insulation and protection for electrical components to prevent short

circuits or accidents.

2. Use 12 volts battery charger for energy supply of the product.

3. Add alarm and lcd to make it more effective.

We also like to take this opportunity to thank the following: First, to the heavenly God, who

gave strength, wisdom and patience to successfully finish our product. It would not be successful

without his help and guidance. Next, to the researcher's adviser, Mrs. Raquel V. Canaco, who

gave a lot of ideas, compliments, recommendations, considerations and especially for her words

of encouragement. Likewise, to the researchers, friends and family for their financial support,

unwavering encouragement and understanding during the challenging moments of this research
journey, which made this research possible. As well as to Mr. John Arbel Braza for his guidance,

encouragement, and expertise throughout the entire research process. Lastly, to the

respondents who generously shared their time and insights for this study.

That's all panelists it's been a pleasure being with you all today. Thank you for all

your patience. It’s been an honor to be among such accomplished individuals and to be

able to present our perspectives before you all, at this juncture we are now ready to

answer your question and hear your recommendations. "Unlock with your touch, no codes,

no keys. Our fingerprint lockscanner, security with ease!"
