Events (2020-2021)

National Army day

National Army day is celebrated on 15th January 2020. It is a historic day that General KM Carippa
became the first Indian to take charge of the Indian army in 1949. On this day Students presented
speeches, patriotic songs, poems and shared real life stories of soldiers.

“Pariksha pe Charcha” by PM Narender Modi

With the help of smart classrooms, students of the department of education were made to watch
the lecture on “Pariksha pe Charcha” delivered by Honourable PM Narender Modi on 20th
January 2020. Which was organised at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in Delhi.
Wall Magazine Competition

Wall magazine competition was held on 24th January, 2020 in the Department of Education. The
themes of the competition were "Cultural Diversity, Science and Technology and Teaching as
an Art". Students participated actively, displaying appreciable information on the boards. They
were comprehensively judged on the basis of creativity, neatness, originality with theme and
presentation.
National Girl Child Week

National Girl child week was celebrated from 25th January till 30th January 2020, by the
Department of Education to raise awareness about the rights of girls. On this occasion various
Activities were performed by students like- awareness rally, signature campaign, play, mono
act, speeches, songs, poems.

Inter Department Cricket Match

Inter department cricket match was held on 25th January, 2020. wherein the Students (boys) of the
Department of Education participated enthusiastically.
Republic Day Celebration

On the auspicious occasion of 26th January, 2020, the Department of Education celebrated
Republic day in the Department premises. Students participated through patriotic songs, speeches,
skit etc. It was followed by patriotic choreography. Later, Coordinator of the department Ms
Shefali Ravash addressed the students and urged them to do their best and feel proud to be an
Indian.
World Cancer Day

World Cancer day was celebrated on 4th February 2020. Vista Art Club of Department of
Education, DAV University organized poster making competition. The purpose was to create
awareness about Cancer and to unite everyone in the fight against Cancer. All the students of
B.A.B.Ed. and B.Sc.B.Ed. participated in the event.

Hawan Yagya Competition

Rahul Arya, Aditya Rana, Gautam Kumar and Nitish Kumar of the Department of Education, D.A.V
University, Jalandhar bagged 1st position in National Level Hawan Yagna Competition held on 11th
February, 2020 at Sohan Lal D.A.V College of Education,Ambala.
International Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day was celebrated on 21st February 2020 on a global level to
promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote the same motive and to
celebrate the linguistic diversity Literary Club, Department of Education organized a competition
based on "Word quiz".

Green Initiative Day

Green initiative day was celebrated on 29th Feb 2020 in the Department of Education. Eco club
organized a pot making competition. The purpose of this event was to create awareness amongst
students for the protection of environment.
National Conference and Workshop

National Conference and Workshop on Psychological disorders in Conflicting World: Role of


Positive Psychology and Mental Health, was organized by the Department of Psychology in
collaboration with the Department of Education, DAV University from 27 February till 28
February 2020.

National Workshop on Anger Management

National Workshop on Anger Management was organized by the Department of Psychology in


collaboration with the Department of Education, DAV University on 27 February, 2020.
National Workshop on Behavioural Assessment and Psychometric Testing
National Workshop on Behavioural Assessment and Psychometric Testing was organized by
the Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Department of Education, DAV
University on 28 February, 2020.

National Science Day Celebration

On the eve of National Science Day, a poster making and Rangoli making competition was
organized by Science Club by the Department of Education on 29 February 2020 on the theme of
women in Science and Vedic Science respectively.
Industrial Visit to Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala

An industrial visit was organized for B.A.B.Ed and B.Sc.B.Ed (sem 2) students to Rail Coach
Factory, Kapurthala on 7th March 2020. The visit aimed at imparting the knowledge and skills on
how industries work and how production takes place. Technical experts of Rail Coach Factory
informed the students that the coaches for various countries are also manufactured in the same
factory and the cost of each coach amounts to Rs. 1 Crore. Through this visit student gained
immense knowledge.

World Earth Day

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support
for environmental protection. Students celebrated Earth Day 2020 in the form of a painting
competition and plantation, while being athome.
World Environment Day

There is a paramount need to protect the environment at the moment, and this is what World
Environment Day, which is celebrated every year on June 5, highlights. The day was celebrated for
encouraging students to save and protect our environment from different environmental challenges the
world is facing today.

World Day against Child Labour

Students of literary Club and Science Club organized creative writing competition and poster
making competition on “World day against child labour” on 12 June 2020.
International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 across the world. Students and teachers of
Department of Education performed different yoga ‘asanas’ at their homes during COVID 19
lockdown. Yoga brings balance between body, soul and mind. It helps us to understand the
purpose of life and how to survive in the changing environment.

Beauty Parade

Beauty Parade event was organized by Fashion club on 18th October 2020. The competition was held in
online mode. It was about “Remoulding traditional wear outfit into western outfit”. Students Showed
their talent and participated actively.
World Food Day

World food day is celebrated on 21st October 2020. Students participated enthusiastically. The competition
was based on a theme "Arrisa Nutrition" in which the participants cooked and made a video presentation
representing their creativity skills, cooking method, recipe etc.

Music Competition

Music competition was held on 23rd October 2020. It was based on the theme "Bhajans and folk" where
students participated and with their melodious voice won the hearts of the judges.

Dusshera Celebration

Dusshera celebration was held on 25th October 2020. In which Dance club organized a competition based
on the theme of "Dusshera Folk" inwhich participants showed their tremendous talent and moves.

International Artist Day


International artist day was celebrated on 25th October 2020 in which the students participated and showed
their talent and creativity through art and drawings.

National Unity Day

National unity day was celebrated on 31st October 2020. NSS club organized an event based on
theme of "Unity awareness" in which the students participated and delivered their speech.

Yoga Competition
Yoga competition was held on 31st October 2020 by NSS club in which the students participated actively
while being at home in this corona pandemic and performed different asanas, it also motivated other
students.

Diwali celebrations
Diwali was celebrated on 14th November 2020. Fashion club organized an event on 15th November 2020 based on the
theme of "Your image, Our focus". In which the students were told to click pictures by using string lights and to show
creative use of Light.

Drama competition
Drama competition was held on 16th November 2020 by Drama club which was based on the theme of
"Lights, camera, capture". Students were given a Clip (based on sita, Ramayana) in which they were
supposed to imitate and show their acting skills.

Rangoli competition

Rangoli competitions was held on 16th November 2020, organized by Science club. Competition was held
online in which the participants were told to make videos of rangoli, drama, poetry or make poster related to
the topic 'Safe and green Diwali".
