Full-Proof Descriptive Plan: SSC CGL Tier 1 + CAT Preparation (June -

November)
Candidate Profile:

• Strong command over Maths and Reasoning.

• Good understanding of grammar.

• Very limited knowledge in GK/GS.

• Can dedicate 10 hours daily for preparation.

• Aim: To crack SSC CGL Tier 1 (mid-August) and CAT (November) with top performance.

Phase 1: Now – Mid August (Primary Focus: SSC CGL Tier 1)

Objective: To master SSC CGL syllabus (especially GK/GS) while maintaining CAT readiness
in RC and DILR.

Strategy: Use your strengths (Quant & Reasoning) to maximize SSC CGL mock scores, and
spend more time on GK and RC which are your current weak points.

Daily Time Allocation (10 hrs/day):

• GK/GS – 2.5 hrs: Cover Lucent GK and revise monthly current affairs from Vision IAS.

• English – 2 hrs: Alternate between SSC grammar (SP Bakshi) and CAT RCs (The Hindu,
Aeon Essays, TIME modules).

• Quant – 2 hrs: Focus on SSC-style fast calculation and attempt timed practice sets.

• Reasoning – 1.5 hrs: SSC reasoning sets and light CAT DILR exposure twice a week.

• Mocks + Analysis – 2 hrs: Take 2 SSC mocks per week in June, then 4 per week in July, and
1 CAT DILR/RC mini test.

Detailed Daily Schedule:

• 7:00–9:30 AM – GK/GS (New topic + revision from flashcards or quizzes)

• 9:30–11:30 AM – English (One day grammar rules + error spotting, next day CAT RC +
summary)

• 1:00–3:00 PM – Quant (Timed drills + error analysis from mock tests)

• 3:30–5:00 PM – Reasoning (Puzzles, seating, number/letter series)

• 6:00–7:00 PM – GK revision + static quizzes (History, Polity, Geography)

• 8:00–10:00 PM – Mock test or sectional tests (rotate between SSC and CAT-style sets)
Phase 2: Mid August – November (Primary Focus: CAT)
Objective: After SSC CGL Tier 1, channel all energy into CAT preparation without ignoring
SSC Tier 2 depth.

Strategy: Advance Quant to CAT level, build DILR with past year sets, and dominate VARC
through daily RCs and vocab expansion.

Daily Time Allocation (10 hrs/day):

• Quantitative Aptitude – 3 hrs: Focus on CAT-level arithmetic, geometry, number system
and algebra.

• DILR – 2 hrs: Solve full DILR sets daily with proper analysis.

• VARC – 2.5 hrs: 2 RCs + 10 para jumbles + 5 para summary questions daily.

• Mock Tests – 2 per week: One on weekend, one mid-week. Review every question, track
accuracy and speed.

• SSC GS & Tier 2 prep – 1.5 hrs/weekend: Just to keep touch alive.
