Learning Area : Science Grade Level: 7

Quarter :2 Date:
MELC/Lesson: Describe the different levels of biological organization from cell to
biosphere (S7LT-IIc-3).

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate an understanding of the
different levels of biological organization.

B. Performance Standard The learners should be able to employ appropriate

techniques using the compound microscope to gather data
about very small objects.
C. Learning Competency/ Describe the different levels of biological organization
Objectives from cell to biosphere (S7LT-IIc-3).

Lesson Objectives: At the end of the lesson the students

will be able to...

1. identify the different levels of organization in an

organism;
2. describe the parts that make up each level of
organization and their functions; and
3. explore how the parts that make up a level of
organization affect the higher levels of organization and
the entire organism thru group activity.

Reviewing previous Lesson or Activity 1: “Unscramble Rumble”

Presenting the New Lesson The students will be working in pairs and
accomplish the activity below:

Establishing a Purpose for the Students will be asked to watch a video about the Levels of
Lesson Biological Organization. https://youtu.be/ksLh67GPBTc

After watching the video, the teacher will ask students’

observation about it and leads to discussion.

Discussing New Concepts and Activity 2: "FlashTalk"

Practicing New Skills #1
Instructions:

 Ask the students to write any number from 1-10 in

a 1/8 sheet of paper.
 All students who write odd numbers will be Group 1
and all who write even numbers will be Group 2.

(Numeracy)
 Students will be given 10 minutes to discuss with
one another about a certain topic. (How the parts
that make up each level of organization affect
higher levels of organization and the entire
organism?)
 They will be provided with manila paper and marker
to write their answer and post it on the board.
 After 10 minutes students will present their work in
front of the class through a FlashTalk (3-5minutes
talk).

Developing Mastery Activity 3: “Sorting Game”

 Distribute a set of cards to each pair of students.

Ensure that each group has the same set of cards.
 Allow students to work collaboratively in pairs.
Encourage discussion and critical thinking as they
analyze the characteristics on the cards and decide
which level of organization each card corresponds
to.
 Students will be tasked to match each card to the
appropriate level of biological organization on the
