This chapter presents the data, the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained
from the survey questionnaires distributed. The data is presented in descriptive form.

1. What are the factors affecting your performance in writing detailed lesson plan?

One of the essential elements of the lesson plan is the content or the topic to be
delivered to the learners. Content consists of the lessons to be discussed aligned to the
subject matter. Social Studies students focus on teaching Araling Panlipunan contents.

Theme: Integrating HOTS activities to the
content
Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) are necessary to a lesson plan as it increases
the learning of the students and level up their skills to synthesis and evaluation. The data
gathered showed that second year Social Studies students find it difficult to integrate
HOTS activities to particular lesson given that Araling Panlipunan is a complex subject.

The data gathered showed that resources are important to the teachers as they
enhance classroom participation and make discussion interesting for learners.

A total of 16 out of 20 participants find formulating objectives as a factor
affecting their performance in writing a detailed lesson plan. The objectives of the lesson
determine the learning outcome.

Another factor that affects the performance of writing a detailed lesson plan is
assessing the learners. In order to assess whether or not the learners have learned,
teachers need to formulate assessments.

Creating a realistic timeline affects the performance of second year Social Studies
students in writing a detailed lesson plan as time should be divided appropriately to
different activities. A teacher should the activities, discussion, and assessment in 45
minutes and the remaining time is allotted for clarifications and questions from the
learners.
2. What is the impact of these factors in your performance in writing detailed lesson
plan?
A total of 15 out 20 participants find these factors had greatly influenced their poor
performance in writing a detailed lesson plan. A total of 5 out of 20 students find it less
likely to affect their poor performance in writing a detailed lesson plan.
3. How can integrating higher order thinking skills affect your performance in
making detailed lesson plan?
A total of 20 out of 20 participants find integrating higher order thinking skills an
effective technique to encourage active participation in the class, establish interactive
discussion, sharpens critical thinking, and make learners understand the depth and
complexity of the content.
4. How does student-centered approach affect your performance in writing the
objectives of your detailed lesson plan?
A total of 18 out of 20 participants find student-centered approach as an opportunity
to formulate objectives that are authentic, encourage active participation, and focus on
individual and group development.
5. How does the perception of the students about the subject matter affect your
teaching styles?
A total of 20 out of 20 participants responded that students often perceived Araling
Panlipunan as a boring or irrelevant subject which challenges Social Studies educators to
put more effort in teaching or adapt teaching style which is more suitable to the content
or subject matter.
6. How do learners need and interests relate your teaching approaches and
strategies?
A total of 20 out od 20 participants responded that teaching approaches and strategies
should cater the need and interests of diverse learners.
7. How can teaching and learning styles relate to one another in terms of writing
detailed lesson plan?
A total of 17 out of 20 participants responded that learning styles influence the
teaching styles that teachers use in delivering the lessons. One of the participants
responded, “Observing how students respond to different teaching methods provide
valuable feedback for refining the lesson plan”.
8. How do you choose your teaching approaches when writing a detailed lesson
plan?
A total of 14 out of 20 participants responded that the objectives of the lesson,
students’ need and interests, and resources available are considered when choosing
teaching approaches. On the other hand, 6 out of 20 participants answered that
choosing teaching approaches is based on the content.

10. What are your solutions when you have a short time to prepare your detailed
lesson plan?
A total of 17 out of 20 participants responded that the solutions when there is a short
time to prepare a detailed lesson plan are pre-made lesson plan, focusing on the key
points, and using technology to assist in the preparation process. While 2 out of 20
participants responded that utilizing existing resources such as textbooks, online
database, or educational website is a solution. And 1 out of 20 participants responded
that focusing on the teaching styles and learnings styles is the solution to quickly
prepare a lesson plan.
Findings of Overall Results
The following observations were drawn from the results of the questionnaires:
The results revealed that a relatively huge number of participants find integrating
HOTS activities, understanding the subject matter, availability of resources,
formulating objectives, creating assessments, and creating realistic timeline as
factors that affect the second year Social Studies students poor performance in
writing a detailed lesson plan.
The results further revealed that integrating HOTS activities and focusing on
student-centered approach enhance active class participation, establish interactive
class discussion, and make the learners understand the depth and complexity of
the content.
The results showed that formulating objectives affect the construction of the
lesson plan.
