machine MEC Series is designed and produced completely by SHANGHAI MAXWELL CNC
Technology Co., Ltd., the equipment is mainly used in packaging, printing, advertising, gasket,
bags, aerospace, furniture and electronics industries, etc. The machine is supported by advanced
CAD and a complete set of superior program, with advantages of high cutting speed and cutting
accuracy, lower noise, simple processes, and friendly interface. It can get your products cut with
clean cutting line or excellent crease.
The contents of User Manual include installation, operation, safety precaution, and simple
troubleshooting. For operating the machine better and safely, please read User Manual carefully
before using this machine for the first time. Please also keep User Manual in order to find
solution to malfunction you may meet later.

1 Installations
1-1 Transporting precaution
Packed with international standard wooden case.
This equipment is precision machinery, should prevent from a strong vibration and colliding
during transporting.
Loading and unloading by forklift is required, and it is prohibited if not as required.
Handle with care and place in accordance with instructions showed on outsider packaging.
The device can not be placed in water or at wet place to avoid electricity leakage.
The operator should wear protective gloves to avoid scratching when dismantling packaging.
1-2 Environmental requirement for placement
Choose an appropriate place which meets conditions below before installation.
This device should be placed on a dry flat ground, avoid to put somewhere surrounding by
corrosive gases, liquids, water droplets, vapor, oily dust, flammable, explosive gas, floating
dust or metal mote.
Temperature of location should be in the range of 5℃ - 40℃.
Humidity of location should be in the range of 1% -75%.
Location placement should be no heat source, electrostatic, strong magnetic, so as not to
interfere with data transmission and reception.
It should not expose to direct sunlight.

1-4 Exterior structure

Cutting machine consists of 6 parts as below:
A: Beam - The cutting head is on beam, it is designed to accommodate to knives, pen and
creasing wheel, this design structure ensure the cutting quality with a soft and light feeling.
B: Cutting Table - The platform for cutting material, it's crucial to ensure cutting table in level
position.
C: Frame - Fixing the whole table to ensure the stability of running machine, so must place the
equipment on a flat ground.
D: Operation Desk is an unattached control table for machine operation with connected
computer.
E: Electrical box - it is the heart of the whole machine, which uses import chip to work
withMAXWELL self-developed CNC software.
F: Air Pump - High-power air pump gets the cutting material firmly adsorbed on the platform to
ensure cutting efficiency and cutting precision.
1-5 Installation Steps

1st : Install the beam on cutting table;
2nd: Connect the cables from machine to electrical box;
3rd : Connect the cables from air pump to electrical box;
4th : Connect the cables from operation desk to electrical box;
Remarks: More details and installation video at USB disk at accessory box, please watch it and
install it accordingly.
1-5-1 Power cable connection

Connect the power cord: this machine adopts national standard circuit, use three-phase five-
wire system, particularly pay attention L1, L2, L3 which are Fire Wire (connect to 380V) . N is zero
line (connected 220V to N), GND is the ground wire. Do not pick the wrong lines.

1-5-3 Transport connection:
This cutting machine can use Ethernet port . Get the network line from the accessory box, one
port connect PC, the other port connect router.
Remarks:
When connecting the power cable, the machine power switch must be in the [OFF] position.
Please carefully check and make sure the power wiring is connected on boot.
Connecting to the network port, connect the LAN cable port inserted in the transfer of
modem or router's LAN port.
Power Specifications: 380V ± 10% / 50HZ or 60HZ.. If there is difference in your country,
please contact us.
Make sure the power voltage is 380V, recommend to install a regulator.
Avoid to use with other high-power or electrical interference in the same power in order to
maintain the stability of power supply.
1-6 Tools installation

In the head of machine, there are below tools:
- Camera
- Pen
- U tool base
- U1 tool base
For U and U1 tool base, it is acceptable to install EOT (oscillating tool), VCUT (V-cut tool), UCT
(Universal tool / rotary tool), KCT (kiss-cut), CTT (creasing wheel), RZ (router tool), you can
choose the suitable tools according to your materials.
1-6-1 How to change the blade

Please select suitable blade from the tool box depending on cutting materials and process
requirements (blades are very sharp, be careful).

- Click “Manual Test”
- then click “U Test”
- then click “U action”
- Now the blade will down to table, then press UP and DOWN arrow to adjust the position of
blade, when the blade tips touch table, you can try to cut the material, if the material is
completely cut through, then the blade depth is OK. (U position is the blade depth, you also can
input the number here.)

2 Operating and Setting
2-1 Power ON / Power OFF
Power ON: Make sure the emergency stop switch is not pressed →press "start" button →Screen
show with countdown 5 number…, 5 seconds later, screen read finish.
press "Click here to reset" to finish the cutting machine initialization, cutting head will come to
(0,0) position to be still, that means cutting machine initialization completes, you can carry out
other operations.
Power OFF: Press "start" button to turn off machine → Power OFF
2-2 Platform Operation (Initial interface )

The button is to control air pump, press once to start air pump, press again
to close air pump. It will be in automatic suction state if you do not press
the button after turning on the machine, and suction stops automatically
after finishing cutting.
Reset function, gets the cutting head come back to the initial origin
position.
Press the button, machine will act repeated cutting of a previous full-page
file under standby interface.
Press this button to test the tools manually.
Press this button to set the machine.

-Keep on pressing to move X“+”direction

-Pen action: Press it, the pen will down to table, press again, pen will up
-U action: Press it, the U tool will down to table, press again, the tool will up
-U1 action: Press it, the U1 tool will down to table, press again, the tool will up
- Origin (0,0) is defined on the table anywhere allowed.
- Press it, the head vibration function will start, press it again for stop. This
function for testing the vibration is working correctly or not.
- (slight moving): In the movement of X, Y and Z, Z in the next page, moving speed was
adjusted to 1/10 of the original.

- If the current tool is knife, press up and down arrow to adjust the knife depth, when
reach the suitable height, press to save the current height as cutting depth.
-Tool Speed:Setting for speed when blade runs down.

In the initial page, press this button to do repeated cutting
When machine is in running, display board will appear below interface
(1)Current Tool:Show tool number for current running
(2)Current Position:Show the placement where cutting head is
(3)Current Depth:Show the depth of current tool
(4)Pause:When machine is running, press once to pause, and press again to cancel working
(5)Continue:When under pause state, press this button to continue working.
(6)Reset:Restore the machine to the power-on state
(7) Cut Para: first pause then you can set the cut depth, if not enough.

- Press ''System set'' in initial interface, then press ''Function'';
- Set IP Add, if IP of the local computer is ''192.168.0.26'', then set ''192.168.0.250'' for cutting
machine. The three former groups of number 192.168.0 should be same;
- Restart machine after finishing IP setting;
Remark: IP Address of machine is independent, can’t be same with other device’s IP address.
2-3-4 Setting temporary origin position
- Press ''Manual Test'' in initial interface to come out ''Tools type'' interface
- In ''Tools type'' interface,press X axis-/+or Y axis+/- to move cutting head to the point you
would like to be. Press ''Enter'' to come back the initial interface, setting of temporary origin is
finished. The temporary origin is the point where machine start to cut (red cross position)
Remark: Press ''Reset'' in initial interface if you would like to cancel the temporary origin.
2-3-5 Decryption
When the system displays “the program has expired, please contact the manufacturer ", which
means that the use of the machine has expired, please contact us. We will send you the
password accordingly.
After you get the password, please reboot the machine. When see below interface,press on the
upper-left corner of the touch screen. The screen will jump to decryption state, enter the
corresponding password, then click ''ENTER'' on initial screen .

3 Basic Maintain Instruction
This equipment is a mechanical and electrical products in precision, need to be carefully
maintained, to prevent unnecessary failure due to not well maintenance or correct operation.
Correct maintenance can prolong the useful life. Detailed requirements as following:
1、Get a good environment for the cutting machine , do not be placed under strong light and
should avoid direct sunlight, otherwise the surface of cutting table will crack or arch leading to
the uneven table , which will impact the cutting performance and using life.
2、Wipe the cutting table with alcohol on a regular basis (do not pour the alcohol directly into
the table) to prevent the clogging of suction holes , which will influence the effect of suction.
3、Strictly prohibited to place heavy objects (5kg or more objects) on the cutting table , as well
as human trample and sleep,
4、Do not heavily press the track of both sides of cutting table and moving track.
5、The power connecting machine must be installed to the ground wire to prevent static
interference, otherwise may destroy machine and interface.
6、Power specification: AC380V±10%, 50/60HZ, must be installed to ground wire to prevent

static interference.
7、Get computer system and software on a good sate, unstable computer system will also affect
the operation.
8、When machine is running, do not let your head or hands close to cutting machine.
9、If cutting machine will not be used for a long time, please pull the power cord from power
socket to avoid a fire caused by power wire insulation deterioration or electric shock incident.
10、Recommended to inject lubricant into nozzle of slider every three months to reduce friction
between the slider and the rail so that the slider can run smoothly.
11、The air compressor need daily to drain off water.
12、Loud noise from the equipment or movement blocked, immediately cut off the power, do
not re-use, and contact the supplier immediately.
13、Any person who uses this cutting machine must meet the following conditions:
- Over18 years of age;
- Trained byMAXWELL company 's technical support;
- Have read and understood the contents of the manual;
-Precautions notes well read;
-Internship operator must be accompanied by experienced personnel to operate the machine.
