Julia Identity
Through the film of Julie and Julia, the theme that allows me to get a sense of her identity is
cooking. I believe that the theme cooking gives off her identity in terms of class identity. The film
Julie and Julia demonstrates how the theme cooking gives Julie a sense of purpose, but most
importantly how that purpose affects her in terms of class. Through the film, the actions that she
performs in and surrounding cookinghave led me to believe that Julie would be part of a high
/middle class. The film shows her class through the theme of cooking by how Julie is privileged
enough to set a goal of completing a 365 day cooking journey from a Julia Child cookbook. This
gives off the impression to me that she is within a wealthier class because

Reduction in real exports (real imports, which are a subtracted in the GDP calculation declined as
well), accounted for a significant portion of the economic decline, followed by a decrease in
inventory investments, non residential fixed investments, residential investments and a cutback in
state and local government spending. The GDP s only supporter so far this year came in the form of
increased real personal consumer expenditures, which grew from 2.1 percent from the previous
estimate of 2.0 percent, mainly reflecting sharp increases in services and slight increases in other
areas. The BEA states, The downturn in the percent change in real GDP, primarily reflected a
downturn in exports, a larger decrease in private inventory investment, and downturns in
nonresidential fixed investment and in state and local government spending that were partly offset
by an upturn in federal government spending (2014). The table below, prepared by the BEA, shows
precisely which components of GDP rose and tumbled in Q1 2014.
B. Foreign Trade (Exports Imports)According to records maintained by the U.S Census Bureau
and the BEA, exports in April of $193.3 billion and imports of $240.6 billion resulted in a trade
deficit of $47.2 billion, up from $44.2 billion in March. The April exports were $0.3 billion less
than March exports of $193.7 billion, but
Protagonists Essay
Protagonists

The protagonists in The Yellow Wallpaper , The Storm , and Eveline all seem to have similarities in
their character. They are all women that have lived in an era in which women are seen as nothing.
This woman had no identity in this world because they were told what to do by men. Human nature
is also another important element that these women have in common.

Calixta from The Storm is a married woman with a family. She is living in a time period in which
woman have no control in what goes on in their life. The husband handles everything and she does
the housework and childbearing. Te other two women in the novels seem to be in the same situation.
Throughout the novel there seems to be a lot of sexuality and passion ... Show more content on

These women are all victims of male domination and machismo. This woman has to do everything
that John tells her to do and he is driving her depression into insanity.

In the short story Eveline this young girl has lived with her father al her life. So basically she is
another victim in this male dominated society. She meets this guy and falls in love with him and
sees that she can maybe get married and leave her fathers side once in for all. So she faces the
decision which will either make her life wonderful or horrendous. She must choose weather to
leave with her fiancé to Buenos Aires or to stay at her father s side in Ireland. Here again we see
the domination of the male species trying to control the woman once again. Joyce says She had
consented to go away, to leave her home (890). In the long run Eveline made a wise choice in
staying with her father. He will always be there for her and never leave her even if she does
something really shocking.

All these women where in a male dominate society. They had assigned roles which they had to do
and weren t allowed to get into anything else. These women in this era where forced to do
whatever they were told. However, Calixta, Eveline and the protagonist from The Yellow
Wallpaper , seemed to get away murder. Calixta was unfaithful; Eveline made a choice which
affected the rest of her life and the protagonist of The Yellow Wallpaper relived her self

Essay On Foreign Law
Foreign Law
Canada s Legal System is based on the English and French systems, they base this system on
common law and civil law, also called Bijuralism. Common law is law that evolved from
precedent but is not written as legislation. Civil law is rules to be a general guidance to problems
that arise, courts do look at precedent, but they first look at the rules. Canada is a federation,
which means it has a federal parliament that makes laws for all of Canada, and a legislature in each
provinces and territories to make laws for their areas.
With laws comes law reform, some laws may not cover specific situations, or become obsolete all
together. With law reform Canada can sometimes change the system of law and even justice itself.

Civil law is usually between people or people and the government, they usually deal with things
like contracts, property, and personal injuries (also known as torts). Public law can be relevant in
both criminal cases and civil cases, when a case show that the powers of the government or rights
of the citizens under the constitution or a federal law is involved in the case. An example of a
public law case would be a person accusing someone of revoking a constitutional right.
Disputes can sometimes be taken to court, although a large percentage is settled outside of the
courtroom. When taking a case to court there are two kinds, trial courts, and appeals courts. Trial
courts are where evidence is presented, witnesses are questioned, and the case is put before a judge
or a judge and jury. If one of the parties is unhappy with the outcome they could appeal the case
sending it to appeals court. In appeals court the appellant submits its case to a panel of judges to
review the previous court s decision to either change the previous decision or continue with the
decision of the previous court. Legislation is only the beginning to the law, the judicial system is
what makes the law a reality and that is the court system.
Law effects the people even if the crime is never committed by that person, although laws help to
prevent crime, the laws help lead to resolutions after a crime has been committed. The
Censorship in Music Essays
Censorship in Music

Censorship in music has been a major problem plaguing America since the early nineteen forties. It
came to a head during the nineteen sixties with the Vietnam War and the hippie movement. During
the nineteen seventies and eighties heavy metal and hard rock were getting the brunt of the
censorship heat. Now in the nineteen nineties the major focus of censorship is rap; primarily
gangster rap. Some of the main factors of music in general that cause legal ramifications are sexual
content, suggestive violence and obscene language. Censorship is an attack against our first
amendment right guaranteeing the freedom of speech. However if a song or album is deemed
obscene the first amendment does not protect this. The mass ... Show more content on

It began by the Recording Industry association of America agreeing to voluntarily place warning
labels on albums that were deemed obscene. This came after a congressional hearing before the
Senate commece, science and transportation committee. Frank Zappa a controversial musician
attended the conference and called Tipper Gore who is co founder of the Parent s Music
Resource Center a Cultural Terrorist. (Winfield pg. 25) Record labeling made many angry and at
the same time pacified others. It was seen as a step forward in attempting to control the one mass
media aimed directly at teenagers. Musicians such as Axle Rose have spoken out against labeling
claiming their right to express themselves musically no matter what the response. One artist,
Luther Campbell, of the rap group 2 Live crew released a single titled Banned in the USA in
response to the labeling (Winfield pg. 14). This labeling of albums is not the first attempt and
success at censoring music. For 50 years radio stations have been censoring songs deemed
inappropriate. In 1940 NBC banned 147 songs. The Supreme Court upheld the FCC s authority to
regulate music in 1978 (Winfield pg. 14). The rock and roll community could only expect some
sort of limited censorship. Initially the ban was only in effect from 6 am until midnight but in 1988
president Reagan made the ban all day. The FCC in an attempt to let radio stations know what types
of songs were unacceptable sent a list of 22

The Aztecs And The Aztec Empire
Mesoamerica was once a place filled with growing, ruthless empires and civilizations, although not
one was like the Aztecs and their empire. Although they started off with a humble beginning, they
quickly grew into a great civilization that dominated present day Central Mexico. They conquered
and expanded into an empire stronger than the other neighboring empires. The heart of the Aztec
empire, Tenochtitlan, was a grand capital filled with many people and astounding temples. The
Aztecs were also ahead of their time with fully functional government and irrigation systems. They
continue to astound many historians with their diverse way of life. They impacted the way of life
for many people today with their customs and ways of life. Throughout the years, the Aztecs were
able to grow and prosper with their sufficient supply of agriculture and blessed fertile lands of the
Mexican Valley, and demonstrated to be an important part of Mexican heritage. Because of their
history, unique culture, and beautiful architecture, the Aztec Civilization truly is one of
Mesoamerica s most influential early empires.
The Aztec Empire has the history of a fast growing empire destined to dominate Mesoamerica s
empires. Although their exact origins are unclear, experts believe the Aztecs evolved from a tribe of
nomadic hunters (History 1). They conquered nearly all of Mesoamerica, creating an empire
stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean and south to present day Guatemala

Fashion Photography By Viviane Sassen
Whenever the term fashion photography is brought up, the first thought that s triggered is that it s
a genre of photography which is devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. However
just like everything else in modern society, fashion photography has been redefined. It s not your
average branded garments on a model anymore; it s more about capturing the essence of the brand
itself and its personal universe. Viviane Sassen is one of the photographers who built her platform
based on minimal focus on fashion, and more on personal experiences which led to her success.
Vivian Sassen started her career in the fashion world as a model and shifted to photography. Few
years after, she published her fashion work in independent magazines and then escalated to fashion
magazines such as Vogue Paris and Wallpaper. Even though her career spiraled, there was always
something characteristic about her photographs, often depicting elegant, and abstract forms of
bodies and body parts. It was easy to state that Sassen reshaped a new visual language in the early
2000s by her usage of strong light and shadow, saturated colors, and extreme, angular poses.
According to a publisher, Another Africa, she spent the early part of her childhood years in Kenya. In
2001, she published her series Cape Flats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Effortless lines and shapes, and quite often of human bodies. However, while arms and legs
frame abstract lines, faces play an alternate, more complex part in her work: they are often
undetectable. Like the uncommonly shaped arms and legs of her work, there is a story behind
Sassen s invisible faces, as well: At one point, when I was considering photography, I was taking
photos for a companion of mine who is a fashion designer. I was taking self portraits, yet I was not
feeling great. I chose to utilize dark ink to make all my skin in the photos pitch dark: my face, my

Kant Analysis
However, there seems to be a foundational flaw in Kant s logic that he uses to justify synthetic a
priori statements, like the ones from above, that defeat the argument. The issue sprouts from how
to think about a term s definition. Being true by definition is a quality of a priori knowledge and
also analytic statements, but Kant, in a sense, is attempting to argue that not all things true by
definition are analytic knowledge. Consider what a definition really is, where it originated, and
how it was derived. A definition of a word describes it in detail and was created, whether it was
your own personal spin on a term s definition a basic dictionary explanation that someone at some
point crafted, definitions are all subjectively man made. Looking... Show more content on

As we explained before, basic math is always a priori since it is able to be derived with reason
alone without the need of sensory experience. The argument for simple addition being a type of
synthetic statement in this context seems to be justified because new information, the addition of
five, is being used to derive a new concept, the number twelve, from another concept, the number
seven. By making a further observation to this, there are areas that do not seem consistent with the
usual justification of a synthetic statement. For something to be a synthetic statement, you must
derive a new attribute to a concept by getting information from somewhere outside of the concept
itself. At first glance, it seems as though this was accomplished, but taking a closer look you would
realize that the number twelve is not an extension of the number seven. Twelve says nothing about
seven, it is an entirely new standalone concept, although it is derived from seven, it is not a feature
of seven and provides no new information about it. The closest possible rebuttal one may argue is
to say that twelve, in this context, delivers information about what happens to seven when one is to
add five to it. It does not feel strong enough to close the case, considering that twelve is still a whole
separate entity from seven, but even if that
