Rodney King Research Paper
On March 2, 1991 Rodney King and two of his friends sat in the car in Altadena, California
drinking malt liquor for many hours before deciding to take a drive. California Highway Patrol
officers spotted King driving at a high speed estimated to be above 100 m.p.h. With lights and
sirens on the officers began to follow King. They ordered him to pull over via the loudspeaker,
but King did not follow the order and continued to drive. After King did not pull over, the officers
called for help. The units of the Los Angeles Police Department joined in the pursuit. Petitioner
Laurence Powell and his trainee, Timothy Wind were two officers that joined the pursuit. King
finally left the highway after being chased for about eight miles. He stopped at the entrance of a
recreation area. The officers ordered King and his passengers to get out of the car and lie on the
floor with their hands behind their back. The two passengers followed the order, but King wasn t
as cooperative. Officers Stacey Koon, Ted Briseno and Roland Solano all began to approach
King. Koon is a sergeant, so he naturally took charge. The officers ordered King to assume the
felony prone position for the second time. King dropped to his hands and knees, but would not get
in felony prone position. King resisted and started to fight back, so the officers took steps back
and fired taser darts. The next part to occur was recorded by a bystander. The video first shows
King rising from the ground and charging toward officer

But if this sight doesn t gross you out it may be a good choice for you because the pay isn t half
bad, how would it be to get 256,635 a year for delivering little miracles(Learn). But being an
OBGYN isn t always fun and exciting considering there is blood and depending on the
circumstances there could be lots of it. There is also the whole process of the afterbirth or the
delivery of the placenta, which does involve blood, lots of blood. Believe it or not there are
people who like to prepare and eat their placenta for medicinal uses. So having a strong stomach
is useful The only problem you would encounter with smell would be, when in labor some women
poop while in the process of pushing out the baby, and this is caused from the muscles because
the muscles being used to deliver the baby are the same muscles you use to poop. You won t have
any problems with taste unless hospital food makes you gag. Sound shouldn t be too much of an
issue except the loud screams of pain coming from mothers in labor. The sense you will use the
most is touch birthing a baby is a very handsy job. Everything from pulling out the baby, cutting
the cord, delivering the placenta, and cleaning up the baby. These all require your hands and

Informative Essay On Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a Jew during World War Two, at that time Anne and her family were in hiding for
2 years. She wrote a diary about her time in World War Two. After in hiding for the 2 year, the
Frank s were captured and sent away. Anne Frank passed away in one of the camps, leaving her
diary in the hands of her father. Otto Frankwas the only survivor of all the families in hiding with
him. He later gifted the diary to the World War Two memorial museum. In her diary, Anne stated
that, In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart. Why would she feel that
way towards everyone at that time, even the people who wanted her dead? Anne was a very
helpful free spirited girl how had many great characteristics, as you can read she quotes, Let me
help you, do you live alone, have you no family at all? During that moment Mr.Dussel was just...

Anne Frank felt that way during the war?) It does not matter who you are and what you do. A lot

The Conflict Between Logic And Passion In The Mayor Of...
Think with your head; follow your heart the conflict between logic and passion has no definite
solution. Nevertheless, in The Mayor of Casterbridge, author Thomas Hardy proposes a clear
answer to this eternal debate. Intermixed with all of the fate, reputation, and wife auctioning in the
novel, there exists a clear divide between logicdriven characters and those lead by passionate
impulses. The fates of these characters in addition to various symbols point to an absolute winner
to the everlasting conflict between logic and passion: logic. In the novel, Hardy uses the demise of
Lucetta Templeman, the bull, and the rise of Donald Farfrae to suggest the danger of being
compelled by passion. First and foremost, Lucetta does not act upon what is logically sound, but
rather upon what she feels, which in turn leads to her death. Lucetta settled in Casterbridge with the
sole intent of marrying Michael Henchard, and the circumstances for their union were absolutely
perfect: Susan died, Lucetta gained the affection of Elizabeth Jane Newson, and a rendezvous was
meticulously planned. But then Donald walks through Lucetta s door. Subsequent to a five minute
conversation, Lucetta s plan to marry Michael is completely obliterated, her heart long[ing] for
Donald (Hardy 183). Although she swore to be Michael s wife, she chose instead to marry Donald,
whom she loved passionately (198). Lucetta did not realize at the time however, that this rash, heart
directed decision would lead her to the grave. Her concealed love letters written to Michael were
publicly flaunted, the skimmington ride irreversibly tarnished her reputation, and she died.
Furthermore, Lucetta abandoned all previous sentiments, plans and promises due to sudden affection
for Donald. Her brain dictated that she follow through with her pseudo engagement to Michael as
promised, but she was deaf to logic. She acted with passion and paid the consequences; marrying
Donald cost her life. Ultimately, through Lucetta s ardent decision to marry Donald and subsequent
demise, Hardy portrays the dangers of following one s heart. The brash actions and downfall of the
bull which threatened Lucetta and Elizabeth Jane further demonstrate the adversity of being directed
Hart Team America
Ms. Hart and a student on Team America were both assessing a mathematical expression which
consists of dividing decimals: 146.4 ÷ 0.32. Bewildered at the difficulty of the problem, they each
evaluated the expression. However, the student had analyzed a differentiated solution. Most students
would directly assume that Ms. Hart, as a teacher, would have the correct resolution. On the contrary,
the studentclaimed she was accurate. Who will stand corrected? In order to precisely evaluate an
expression involving the division of decimals, there are certain steps to ensure success:
If the divisor is not a whole number, move decimal point to the right to make it a whole number and
move decimal point in dividend the same number of places.
Divide as usual.

Hart and the student s work, the miscalculation is pointed out. The student has correctly analyzed the
first step. Conversely, the teacher mistakenly divided 146.4 by 100 instead of multiplication, placing
one of the main components of her expression to be 1.464 incorrect. This affects every step after,
although the operation and method used is correct. Nevertheless, the student may still be wrong as
well.
Continuing the process of evaluating the expression, the next step is to divide as usual. Following
the standard process of dividing whole numbers, the exact quotient received should be 457.5. With
step 3 already done, the final action would be to check the answer. That can be done with the
inverse operation of division, multiplication. 457.5 × 0.32 = 146.4. This proves that 457.5 is the
error free, precise quotient.
Evidently supported by a carefully checked run through of the steps needed, the student has received
the honor of evaluating the expression accurately. Ms. Hart had erroneously used the wrong equation
on step 1. Everyone makes mistakes! This depicts how using the right strategy and checking after
each move can lead to conquering the expression and a genius, mathematical
The Effect Of Exercise On The Heart
The Effect of Exercise on the Heart
By Kathryn Ho
Abstract
The literature on the effects of exercise of cardiac output maintains the idea that exercise should
affect cardiac output pulse rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, QRS pulse lag, P
T and T P intervals, because of increased heart rate. For our experiment, we tested this theory by
measuring our cardiac output before and after some rigorous exercise. We measured the individual
cardiac output and then combined the data to compose a class wide data average. We compared the
results of the experiment to what we expected, which was that exercise does affect our heart. Our
data from this experiment supported the notion that exercise does, in fact, change cardiac output.
Introduction
Homeostasis is the process of maintaining ideal conditions and being able to stabilize those
conditions. When we exercise, our muscles require more oxygen to work. Guyton (1985) says
that our blood flow increases dramatically to our muscles during exercise to about 20 L/min,
compared to that of 1 L/min when we are resting. Usually, our precapillary sphincters to our
capillaries in our muscles are contracted to about 20 25% open, restricting the amount of blood flow
that goes to the muscles. When we become more active and the muscles require more oxygen, the
precapillary sphincters dilate so all of them are open, and the blood flows to the muscles, giving
them the oxygen they need to keep up with the demanding actions we
Elementary School Will Be On Movement Education Concepts
As the new director of the physical education curriculum I would redesign the curriculum to focus on
the necessary aspects to ensure the students will have the knowledge to be physically active for a
lifetime. To reach this goal I would redesign the elementary curriculum to focus on movement
education concepts, middle schoolwill focus on traditional team sports, fitness/wellness and high
schoolwill focus on lifetime activities and fitness/wellness. During each stage of educationthe
information presented will build upon each other so the students will be able to move on to more
complex activities, concepts and skills. The focus in elementary school will be on movement
education concepts. Some of these concepts include: body, space,... Show more content on

During these years it will be a good time to incorporate basic skills of traditional sports along with
fitness/wellness. Allowing time for exposure of sports skills will give them background
knowledge when they transition into middle school. Incorporating basic game play tactics with
skill units will give them the background that will help when introduced to full game play in
middle school. The current trend in physical education is incorporating health into the class. This
must be done to help keep the students aware of the growing numbers and concern for the high
obesity rates. Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled, and
today, nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese (Learn the Facts). Having
the students understand that it is not only beneficial for them to be active also understand how
their eating habits affect their bodies. For instance, First Lady Michelle Obama has launched an
initiative of Let s Move! to help combat childhood obesity. This is a resource that will be made
known to students, staff, parents and the community to use to aid in the direction the school
program is moving toward. Proving a source for everyone to have will only help move the program
forward because the students are not only seeing it at school but also reinforced at home and in their
community. As the students move into middle school they will use
Bartleby The Scrivener Character Analysis
In Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener , the narrator is on the hunt for a new copyist in his office.
From what we can tell of our narrator, he is an unambitious, vanilla fellow but still has an air of
condescension about him. He always thinks that he knows what is best for his employees,
although in actuality, he knows very little. Enter Bartleby: the incurably forlorn and sedate
answer to his prayers (330). Bartleby is a quiet man who gains employment at the law office of
our narrator. Overall, he seemed to be a good worker who had a few kinks the narrator thought that
he could iron out, but to no avail. At the end of his account, the narrator says Ah Bartleby, Ah
humanity which suggests that he sees Bartleby as a representation of all people. This is because the
narrator thinks of Bartleby and all other people as lesser than him and in need of his help.... Show

He just had a few idiosyncrasies that irk the narrator, and among them are what come to be
known as dead wall reveries (338). Bartleby would often gaze out of his window at the view,
which was nothing more than a big old brick wall. Hours and hours would pass of Bartleby not
doing his work, and not even doing something for his own entertainment like reading the
newspaper or drinking, like the other copyists did. His time was consumed by these reveries, and
also by not doing anything that he did not prefer. Readers can interpret Bartleby s actions as a
representation of his hopelessness. When a character looks out of a window, it can show the reader
how he sees the world. For Bartleby, his vision is fixed on a dead wall. The view he has of the world
is dead and despairing. He doesn t want to do anything productive because he is so fixed on his

Araujo A.Lucia. Forgetting and Remembering the Atlantic Slave Trade: The Legacy of Brazilian
Slave Merchant Franscisco Felix de Souza, in Crossing Memories. (Trenton, NJ: Africa World Press,
2011), 70 103.
This chapter is about Franscisco Felix de Souza who is among the most widely studied slave
merchants. Francisco is known of his slave trade activities between Brazil and Benin during the
period of the transatlantic trade. The author s main concern is to explore postmemory elements of
Brazilian slave trade from a biographical perspective of the life of Fransisco. An introspection into
the life of Franscisco, according to the author, is an important element of understanding the
relationship and aspects of mutual benefit between slave merchants ... Show more content on

The author argues that the Latin American CEBs strengthened the fight for democracy while the
Protestants did not contribute much to the fight. A critical examination of the context reveals that
religion only had a small part in the liberation of Latin Americans. The role of religion is mainly
limited to social change and promoting people to make independent decisions and yearn for self
governing. Religion paved the way for economic, political and historical factors that led to the
gaining of independence and democracy. The paper shows that religion only forms one part of the
struggle for independence even for Afro Brazilians. This is crucial in introducing other political
factors that were in play during the abolishment of slavery in Brazil. The paper also shows the
importance of religion as a social construct for a society. After the abolishment of slavery in Brazil,
many liberated Afro Brazilians constructed their cultural identity around church practices and rituals.
Despite the differences in practices, religion remains as one of the unifying factors of community,
and this helps in nurturing and advancing democracy.
