`` Pied Beauty `` By Gerard Manley Hopkins
Throughout recorded history, humans have accredited the happenings of nature to a higher
power; shown through religious beliefs past and present. The Greeks believed in a myriad of
gods and goddesses, who supposedly governed all aspects of life and nature. They believed in a
god or goddess to represent each part of nature from the sun to the sea; there was even a goddess
of rainbows. The Grecians used their religion to explain the elements of their world for which
they had no other explanation. Christians explain the natural world in a similar fashion. Instead of
a god or goddess for each individual piece of nature, they preach that nature was created and is
controlled by their God. The belief of divine control is a popular topic in literature; specifically
poetry. Pied Beauty written by Gerard Manley Hopkinsin 1877, and Design written by Robert Frost
in 1922 are just two examples of many that follow this trend. Gerard Manley Hopkins was a 19th
century, English, Victorian poet. He was brought up in a religious and artistic family, leading to his
becoming a poet and Jesuit priest (Reid). Alternatively, Robert Frost was a 20th century, modern,
American poet. Frost lived and taught in New England; through his poetry he described much of
its scenery and landscape (Gerber). Despite the differences in their lives and writing styles, Frost
and Hopkins developed poems of similar image and theme. Though Hopkins s Pied Beauty and
Frost s Design are of similar theme, their
Hurricane Katrin The Second Largest Hurricane
Hurricane Katrina known as the fifth largest hurricane ever to hit the United States formed on
August 23, 2005 and dissipated August 31, 2005. Katrina was classified as a category five
hurricane with wind speeds up to 175 mph. Katrina made headlines because of its destruction
region which was Louisiana. Many families especially African Americans were considered to be
vulnerable and left to die from the disaster. In the following I will address whether Katrina was a
natural disaster ready to happen or if it could have been prevented by an elaborate plan to evacuate
the effected regions.
African American neighborhoods were devastated by Hurricane Katrina because they lived in low
line areas, whereas Whites lived in higher grounds less likely to get hit by the storms. Low income
communities were hit more because of urban areas. These areas included levees that didn t protect
homes from the storms. What is astonishing is that the government was fully aware that New
Orleans levees were failing and wouldn t hold a category five Hurricane. Yet they did nothing to
protect the humans.
Federal and local government hindered and prevented the evacuation of African Americans from
their neighborhoods. Failures included not having an evacuation plan for New Orleans. IEM which
stands for Innovative Emergency Management is compromised by the government to form an
evacuation plan for a natural disaster. In reality there was no plan that IEM had for Hurricane
Katrina. Here we can clearly note
An Analysis Of Ben Jonson s The Lyric
In 1616, Ben Jonson published the lyric Still to Be Neat, which was responded to in 1648 with
Delight in Disorder, a lyric by Robert Herrick (Kornman, 1)(Adams, 1). Both poems are iambic
tetrameter and include a plethora of similarities. These similarities, including rhyme and diction, are
used to emphasize the theme, which I believe to be naturalness, of both poems (Reviewing, 1). The
message of each poem, although presented through different tones, is that the imperfections of a
woman s natural beauty are admirable to not only the eyes, but also the heart of a man. While the
poems use diction to accentuate the common theme and display similar rhyme schemes that
represent the point of view in the poems, there is a difference within these similarities, the
contrasting tones, which aid in getting the message across to the reader.
Notably, the use of diction in each poem is used to emphasize the theme and aid to the tone of
each speaker. For starters, the speakers in each poem are men that prefer a woman in sweet
disorder ( Delight 1) with hair as free ( Still 9), rather than a woman still perfumed ( Still 3) and too
precise in every part ( Delight 14). In the late 16th and early 17th centuries, much poetry
incorporated the idea of disorder in women and specifically, Jonson notes that there s something
peculiar about a woman who is always neatly dressed; what is she hiding (Adams, 1). In these few
examples, the diction is geared towards representing
Positive Behavior Support Pbs
Positive and Negative Reinforcement Kevin Freeman Grand Canyon University: SPE 522
October 2 20126, Reinforcement is an essential part in identifying and encouraging a certain
behavior. In the most classic definition, positive reinforcement is a method of identifying to
children which behaviors are acceptable and appropriate and which are not (Sigler, E. Aamidor,
S, 2005). Reinforcement is often given as praise for doing a certain task. As educators, saying great
job or a simple word like fantastic are expressed towards students as praise. However, when a student
is struggling and praise is given such as you are doing so well , the negative aspects of praise
present themselves. The child is aware of the empty praise... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Raul is very intelligent and needs to get verbal praise throughout his day to stay on task. His
triggers are usually when he is asked to sit down within the circle during circle time. The behavior
is him pulling away, crying, and hitting, trying to escape the actual activity. The maintaining
consequence is that the adults let Raul leave the circle. There is not much fight with Raul
because all those involved do not want the other students to become distracted. The first
prevention is to give Raul some type of choice to coincide with circle time. A visual activity
schedule could give him a more clear idea of what he should be doing and what the daily lessons
and activities are. Raul will know exactly where he needs to be and what he needs to be doing at
that particular time. Also, manipulatives and intermittent praise are other preventions that the
teacher can use. Intermittent praise is praised use throughout the activity but not regularly. This
type of praise is given to become persistent. The new skills that can be developed are a part of the
plan and may be implemented accordingly. Raul may have increased time of engagement, such as
a longer duration of sitting within the circle. Raul will say all done when he has completed a task
so praise can be given. This will help the adults notice him if he is not given the correct amount of
attention. The responses to Raul for sitting longer will also be all positive praise toward Positive
Stress In Workplace
COPING WITH STRESS IN THE WORKPLACE Linda Holland Blackwell MGMT201 American
Public University System Executive Summary Coping with stress in the workplace can result in
the same stress as stress from any other source such as headaches, high blood pressure,
indigestion, and other physical symptoms; like irritability, anger, depression. Even if a person has
a job and is making a decent salary, there are still stress factors in the workplace that can add to
daily stressors. Some of the typical sources of stress in the workplace are work overload, a lack of
meaningfulness in work, lack of control in decision making, long hours, and a lack of job
security. Burnout is the most common stressor in the workplace. This one of the most serious
effects of the workplace. Burnout can cause extreme dissatisfaction, pessimism, unhappiness on
the job, and a desire to quit. Burnout stress can cause emotionally exhaustion. A great deal of
stress comes from dealing with other people and social interactions. Stress is also affected by
status and choosing to adapt. This paper will explore what stress is and the factors that can
intensify the effects of stress in the workplace. Stress in today s workplace is growing faster due to
individuals dealing with constant work related demands. Most workers that take on constant
demands in the workplace also deal with conflict that can even throw off their work life balance,
such as poor career development and the physical
David Little s Song Analysis
When the general public in America thinks about the Vietnam War, they think of the music of that
period, and when the general public thinks about music during war, they usually think of what
composer David Little defines as Revolutionary Music. This type of music, as explained by Little, is
music that is more wholly political in the way that term is traditionally understood. It is music about
winning and provides singular solutions to numerous problems. (Little). People don t remember,
however, that a lot of this music was critical music. In short, as explained by Little, critical music
presents problems that may have many potential solutions (Little). The key difference between these
two styles is that one of them is used for action... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His song appropriately titled Imagine is one of the most known songs in the world. The song
speaks of peace rather than war, and it promotes the world becoming one, as a single nation
without any borders or without hell or heaven in mind. It explicitly questions the audience of
other options and to examine things from a different perspective. Imagine there s no countries; It
isn t hard to do; Nothing to kill or die for; And no religion, too; Imagine all the people; Living life
in peace (Lennon). In this excerpt, the audience can see that Lennon is not referencing any
specific war or event; On the contrary, he is promoting Many young Americans used this song as
an escape of all the unnecessary loss that the war had taken. Along with many Americans, Lennon
expresses his desire for the world to share and not to be greedy. Sure, audiences felt inspired by
this message, but they also felt reassured that an ultra influential voice took the people s side.
Strangely enough, this song is reminiscent of revolutionary music, yet it doesn t consist of any
chanting or monotonous singing. The song offers a solution or proposition, which is to live in
peace and unite as one by leaving religion and other vices to the side. The song inspired the masses
and it changed the perspective of people all over the
How Did Ho Chi Minh Contribute To The Administration Of...
Representatives of eight countries with Vietnam represented by two delegations, one made out of
supporters of Ho Chi Minh, the other of supporters of Bao Dai met in Geneva to discover an
answer. They closed with an understanding as indicated by which Vietnam was to be partitioned at
the seventeenth parallel until races, planned for 1956, after which the Vietnamese would set up a
bound together government. It is difficult to assess Ho s role in the Geneva negotiations. He was
represented by Pham Van Dong, a faithful associate. The balance displayed by the Viet Minh in
tolerating an allotment of the nation and in tolerating control of less region than they had
vanquished amid the war takes after the example set up by the man who had consented to the 1946
arrangements with France. Be that as it may, this adaptability, which was likewise a reaction to
weights applied by the Russians and Chinese, did not accomplish everything for the Viet Minh.
Hanoi missed out in light of the fact that the races that were to ensure the nation s reunification were
put off inconclusively by the United States and by South Vietnam, which was made on an accepted
premise as of now. The control displayed by the Viet Minh in tolerating an allotment Ho Chi Minh s

Nfl Coaches Research Paper
The draft has a significant impact on the coaches as much as the players. Coaches for the NBA,
NFL, and MLB have to be sure their potential players are skilled enough, fit into their team
program, and will make a difference in the team program. Also, they have to evaluate the players
they already have so when picking for the draft, coaches won t pick the same type of playerthey

Working While Attending College
Incoming freshmen experience the difficult decision of whether or not they would prefer to
maintain a part time job while attending college. For some students it may be a necessity, while for
others, simply a desire. As an academic advisor, it is my job to assist the students in their growth and
development by establishing meaningful educational plans which are compatible with their life
goals. The studentcan either decide to manage working during school, or can solely focus on
academics. Beginning collegecan be quite overwhelming, even without having a part time job.
College freshman students who are in college must consider academic, social, and psychological
effects of working, in addition to whether or not it will interfere with their educational goals.
During the decision making process, students must be aware of the academic effects that arise when
working a part time job and attending classes throughout each week. A job can provide benefits,
extra income, and students with the opportunity to learn professional skills such as communication,
teamwork, time management, and good customer service. These opportunities successfully prepare
undergraduates for future career goals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is significant that students have a sense of stability between working and attending college classes.
To some, having a job creates a meaningful work experience that can positively reflect on having
better academic achievement and success. For others, it causes stress and anxiety, because they often
neglect the person whom they should be most concerned, themselves. Also, it is commonly seen that
students feel pressured about paying off college funds, which shifts their focus towards working
rather than their grades. Students need to be aware of their emotional standpoint, which means
taking time to be organized and in good mental
Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Traffic Analysis
\section{Introduction to Traffic Analysis Attacks}
We first describe the characteristics of an traffic analysis attacker (with respect to wireless networks)
before elaborating on the types of traffic analysis techniques that the attacker can use to compromise
privacy.
Generally, a traffic analysis attacker can be characterized by the following
properties~\cite{conti2013}:

\begin{enumerate} \item \underline{The global or local observability}. A global attacker is one

that can observe all the transmission activities in the entire network. This can be achieved if the
attacker is able to deploy his own network of sniffers to observe the network traffic or has a few
sniffers with high gain antennas. The local adversary on the other hand, ... Show more content on

The attacker is able to easily identify and distinguish between individual packets if they are of
different packet sizes. A simple countermeasure would be to pad each packet into a common
size~\cite{hong2005, wan2012, zhang2012}.

\underline{Time correlation}.
The attacker correlates the packet transmission times of each node and traces the packets hop by hop
from its source to its destination. The intuition here is that under normal scenarios, each intermediate
forwarder will forward a packet towards its destination without adding additional delay or packet
mixing. Privacy can be enhanced when each forwarder node adds a random delay before transmitting
the packet ~\cite{zhang2012, shao2008} or route the packets to fake destinations~\cite{deng2005}.
The time correlation attack is simple to conduct and effective in compromising privacy. Hence, it is
the most considered attack in prior works and also widely studied in many Internet anonymity
protocols~\cite{hong2005}.

\underline{Rate monitoring}.
The attacker counts the number of packet transmissions executed by each node in a region for a
period of time. If the nodes are sending to a common destination node e.g., the sink node, then the
latter should be located in a region of higher packet transmissions or
Similes In The Unknown Citizen
The Unknown Citizen consists of many different kinds of organizations and people that are
weighing in and discussing the character of the poem our citizen . Our citizen had never
received or made any official complaint against him or others according to the Bureau of
Statistics. It was said that the man was a saint, whose good doings in life consisted of never
getting fired and serving in the military. He had belonged to a Union, and paid his dues, he was
also said to have of liked having a drink from time to time. This list of his good deeds and
accomplishments goes on for quite some time. Reflecting on the poem, it doesn t seem poetic at all
in some aspects, it hardly uses and similes or metaphors, and the place/society told of in the
No Child Left Behind Standardization
The large change for standardization began with the implementation of the No Child Left Behind
Act (NCLB) in 2001. According to professors of education Delilah David, Ingrid Haynes, Bernnell
M. Peltier Glaze, Summer Pannell, and head of Texas Marshall County school district, Carrie
Skelton, the NCLB was responsible for a number of undesirable consequences in school
administration. Districts became responsible for testscores from individual schools, creating
pressures among administrative officials to perform well. The act also made it easier for the federal
government to become more involved in education, primarily in its finances. Dr. Martin Wasserburg
conducted an assessment of lower income schools in an urban area and found that t... Show more

However, the NCLB has fallen far too short of its goal. Standardized testing has not only failed to
help disadvantaged students, but has hurt them and their districts as well (Wasserberg). Write more
The increase of standardization in education in the years following the NCLB s implementation
brought more undesirable consequences, one of them being the pressure placed on teachers to
perform well. More now than ever, teachers are accountable for the test scores and performances
given by individual students (Wiliam, Dylan). In fact, the main purpose of standardized testing is
not to assess the contextual knowledge of students, but rather to act as an assessment of teacher
performance and quality. Teachers are held more accountable for the scores of their students than the
students themselves are, despite the proven lack of control that teachers have over test scores. This
particular facet of the American education system sets us apart other developing countries, where
students are held as equally accountable to their scores as teachers are. According to Dylan Wiliam,
two thirds of the reasoning behind test scores can be traced back to socioeconomic factors, further
showing that teachers have a small influence in a student s test score, and that they should not be
assessed based on them alone.

Preventing Drunk Driving
The biggest solution to me that would prevent drunk drivers from taking the wheel is ignition
interlock devices. They assist in preventing a driver from operating the vehicle if their BAC is
over 0.15% to 0.20% depending on the jurisdiction. (Driving laws) Tricking the ID on the devices
can be very difficult and unlikely, but if one is feeling bold and tries it there will be major
consequences if the person is caught. I aim to have these automatically stored in all the new
models of cars that are being produced while also getting them installed to people cars now. The
price to install these now are one hundred dollars to install and ranges from fifty to a hundred
dollars a month for leasing. (Drivinglaws) I am positive that if we get more... Show more content on

If the BAC is within the pre determined limit, the fuel cell triggers a relay to close and the car
will start. (Driving laws) These haven t caught on nationally, but would be an added layer of
prevention if made mandatory. My idea to make sure these breathalyzers get installed is to make
check points , at all the gas stations, car shops, DMVs, and any other spots that cars are
eventually going to have to make a stop at. I plan to add a strike system for the ones who have
not caught along to getting the breathalyzers. Strike one with have to set a meeting with a
financial person to see if the problem is the person not having the right amount of funds. For the
people that make fewer than thirty thousand dollars, a year will have a chance to apply to the
program to get financial help. The money will come from the systems and foundations already in
place to prevent drunk driving. Strike two will be a warning if you still have not gotten the device
installed giving the individual a certain amount of days to get it installed before the next check up.
Strike three will have to deal with the driver and their license getting suspended for not following
the rules after financial help and an extra deadline to get the device
The Girl With The Broken Wing, By Heather Dyer
The Girl with the Broken Wing is a book by Heather Dyer and it s a good one too! I like it because
it s a comedy and it shows how it would be if angels merged into our world. I got attracted to the
book because I saw wings on the front cover and then I read the title which sounded interesting to
me. I really liked how the author used her imagination to imagine what kind of chaos would
happen if an ANGEL came to school or do other kinds of crazy things. The book starts off when
James and Amanda hear a sound on their skylight and they decide to open it to see what s there.
James opens the skylight and a girl drops down. She looked normal, except for a pair of white
flowing wings. Her named turned out to be Hilary and she turned out to be an ANGEL!!
