The Purpose Of A Case Study
Media research indicates that journalistic standards and practices are socially constructed systems,
which deal with complex work processes by organising news flow and explicating roles and
competencies (Tuchman 1978; Fishman 1980). The case study method is regarded as a valid tool
to analyse a complex issue. A case studyis defined as an empirical inquiry that investigates a
contemporary phenomenon within its real life context (Yin 2003: 13). It is best used to understand
complex social and organisational issues. Case study evidence to answer researchquestions and
contribute to theory development originates from a variety of sources, such as documentation,
archival records, interviews (qualitative or quantitative) and observation. In this... Show more content

The second is that it is not easily open to generalisation but if it is contextualised and carefully
described then others can consider its usefulness in other contexts and examples (Wisker
2001:191). Finally, Dominick and Wimmer argue that case studies are likely to be time
consuming and may occasionally produce massive quantities of data that are hard to summarise
(1987: 165). With regard to this study, I would like to argue that the strengths of observations
outweigh the weaknesses. In addition, there is simply no other method that applies better to what
I want to investigate. The findings are not representative of all newsrooms experimenting with
convergence since the research is derived from one case. Therefore I do not wish to generalise
any findings from this case study. I tried to provide readers with good raw material for their own
generalising because the reader can make his or her own generalisations and interpret it their way
(Stake, 1995:102). However, the findings will offer insights that could be probed for future
William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night And Thomas Middleton...
The Renaissance: Essay 1 revisited
The Renaissance was a time of cultural and social revolution in England, at least in the south of it.
The plays and playwrights of the time challenged the societal norms and pushed boundaries into
never before thought of areas, this essay will show how Renaissance drama was subversive and
created the world we live in today. The two plays I will be focusing on are: William Shakespeare s
Twelfth Night and Thomas Middleton s Women beware Women . Both share similar themes yet go
about them very differently to one another.
Twelfth Night (or What You Will ) was written in 1601, near the middle of Shakespeare s career,
and a mere 15 years before his death in 1616. Considered by many critics as one of his greatest
comedies, Twelfth Night is about deception, disguises and madness, along with the bizarre things
caused by love itself. This play is also one of Shakespeare s plays that include a female protagonist,
pretending to be a man. (At the time of the play all parts where played by men, so Viola would
have been a man pretending to be a women who was also pretending to be a man!)
Viola, the female protagonist, like many of Shakespeare s heroines is likeable from the get go
with no real character flaws to note of and no serious faults to note of. (Discounting her decision to
dress as a man, as it sets the plot in motion.) And while other character s love is a fickle thing, such
as Orsino who can t decide between Olivia and
What It s Like To Be A Gang Member, By Bill Lee And We...
In both What It s Like to be a Gang Member, by Bill Lee and We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn
Brooks, gang life is portrayed as dangerous and violent, demonstrating that gang members have to
find a way to compensate and prevent themselves from going overboard. Both passages show the
toughness required to be in a gang, along with the challenges the members face, such as peer
pressure.
In the article What It s Like to be a Gang Member, by Bill Lee, gang activity is described in detail,
and the struggles of membership are shown clearly. For example, ...when your buddies are
jumping someone, there was immense peer pressure to join in, whether you wanted to or not.
This shows that some gang members would do atrocious things just to fit in, not because they
actually wanted to do it. Beginning in the mid 1960 s, the violence in my neighborhood
escalated, and by 1970, a major gang war had erupted. This quote tells us that things got out of
hand and daily life started to get more and more fatal until a fight took place. They didn t hold
themselves back when traumatizing others. I learned early on that in the streets, it was dog eat dog
and survival of the fittest. Here, it proves that gang life is competitive and if you can t keep up, then
you will suffer. You will have to fight... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We real cool. We left school. Here, the author shows two things: that gang members think of
violence as cool , and it also shows that gangsters would drop out of or skip school, which is a
careless act, since education is very important for youths. We lurk late. We strike straight. This
simple quote shows that gang members would get in trouble late at night and get involved with
risky activities. We die soon. Here, the author is suggesting that gang life will often lead to suffering,
or even death. This displays how precarious things can
Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs
1.Identify three personal goals. Now, review Abraham Maslow s hierarchy of needs. Describe
Maslow s theory, and explain how your goals either align or do not align with his theory. Provide
specific details to demonstrate your knowledge of Maslow s theory.
Attempting to explain human motivations Abraham Maslow suggested that there was a hierarchy
of needs, according to module 9.2 (n.d.) they are an ascending order from basic survival to more
complex needs of self fulfillment (para 17). While Maslow felt that very few people achieved the
highest level of self actualization he did suggest that it was a lifelong ongoing process. As an
example, in my own life I have already achieved the first step of physiological motivation or needs of

First I will start by stating that I am evolving in my view and beliefs on this matter and I remain
open to civilized dialog even if they challenge them. I have no problem with same sex marriages,
of course the same standards must be met that apply to all marriages. I do feel the emotional
commitment that same sex couples have with each other are as real as my own for my wife.
Furthermore, I don t think it is a conscious choice of the individual any more than I chose to be
attracted to the opposite sex. These views are supported by what I have experienced and been
exposed to rather than what was presented in this lesson. However, the material presented did
offer some things for me to ponder. First the books by Dr. Dr. Alfred Kinsey mentioned in module
9.4 (n.d.) did offer some insight that while the books may have been inaccurate they did generate
dialog. This behavior is deviant by societal norms and I don t think science will change the
emotions surrounding the controversy. Historically supporting argument with the mention of
Navajo beliefs on the subject held weight for me, and their belief of masculine and feminine in
everyone resonates true. Overall for me even after reading this lesson I have a hard time using it
support my beliefs, I feel this more based on
The System Selection Of Gsm
System Selection While discussing about the system selection on the basis of GSM, there are many

technology used for communication with the help of mobile device which is generally used to talk
to a person which can be at far distance. This generally established communication between two

Without this device the life of every human being is incomplete. This because the GSM device is
not the device which is used to access the GSM services but it also offer more other services. The
most common and most frequent device which is used all over the world in the mobile. Mobile
is the most common and most demanded device. This device not only used to communication but
it also supports data communication. Earlier there were different generations of mobiles which
are used to access the bet work. But the second generation mobile uses the GSM services and
hence the GSM technology known as the second generation communication channel. As the GSM
uses the combination of Time and FDM, the mobile is used to demultiplex the given channel and
also it is responsible for accessing the channel more effectively and efficiently. The mobile device
is used to transmit and receive the required data within in a given time frame and with if a give
condition. With the help of mobile devices, there are many other services offered by the GSM to
enable ad to support more efficient data transmission. These services can be SMS, MMS etc. All
these services can only be accessed with the help of mobile devices which supports may other
multimedia features like live calling, video calling etc. Every day,
Jim Crow Laws Essay
Jim Crows Laws were put into place to create a separate but equal environment but this way of life
created a silent war between blacks and whites. Jim Crow Laws, in U.S. history, were the laws that
enforced racial segregation in the South between the end of Reconstruction in 1877 and the
beginning of the civil rights movement in the 1950s. These laws mandated the separation of public
schools, public places, and public transportation, and the segregation of restrooms, restaurants, and
drinking fountains for whites and blacks.
Jim Crow Laws was an edict that was created to keep the blacks of whites from sharing anything.
From hotels to public restrooms, the African American people were never truly free even after the

(The face of Jim Crow) As the show became a massive hit, Jim Crow became the common term for
African Americans. Decades later the fiction character died but found anew meaning in the late
1900 s, as anti black laws and restriction taking place after reconstruction. (The Jim Crow Routine)
Jim Crow Laws labeled the African American as clumsy and undeserving of freedom, but in reality
it is the laws
that prevented the African Americans from truly living. Because some people felt the need to feel
superior, African Americans were punished.
In 1892 an African American named Homer Plessy, refused to sit in the Jim Crow car on the train.
Plessy was brought to court and challenged the law that conflicted with the 13th and 14th
amendment. Obviating the 14th amendment, forbidding any state from creating laws that deprived
citizens from their immunities. (14th Amendment) In response to this charge the court
Stated that it was legal distinction between two races and it did not interfere with the 13th and 14th
amendment. The court also stated that the reason for the 14th amendment was to enforce the
absolute equality of the two races before the law, laws requiring the separation, do not necessarily
imply the inferiority of either race. (Plessy v. Ferguson) The court knows of the injustice in these
laws but chooses to ignore the suffering the African American people still undergo even though they
are free under the
The And Drug Administration ( Fda )
Background and Introduction:
Clinical trials evaluating the use of Yttrium 90 (Y 90) transarterial radioembolization for hepatic
tumors date back to the 1960s. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of
TheraSphere® (BTG, Ontario, Canada) particles for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) via
humanitarian device exemption (HDE) in 1999 and SIR Spheres® (SIRTex Technology Pty, Lane
Cove, Australia) particles for colorectal cancer metastases in 2002. Since then....[talk more about
recent vents in the field]. Transarterial radioembolization has been reported to improve overall
survival to 15.4 17.2 months (1). The burgeoning use of Y 90 radioembolization in the treatment of
liver tumors requires interventional radiologists to make clear documentation in procedure reports in
order to obtain authorization and maximize reimbursement.
Traditionally, interventional radiologists performed arterial embolization while radiation oncologists
brachytherapy. However, Y 90 radioembolization unites both these disciplines via Y 90 microspheres
that are placed intra arterially by an interventional radiologist. Over the past decade, interventional
radiologists have been performing increasing numbers of radioembolization procedures in treatment
of intermediate to advanced stage liver only or liver dominant hepatic malignancy. [include statistic]
However, unlike more traditional interventional oncologic procedures, Y 90 radioembolization
requires more comprehensive initial

Conviction In The Movie The Million Dollar Baby
Conviction Life is a balancing act. People constantly flutter back and forth, here and there, all in
attempt to find a harmony of when to push and when to step back. This battle one faces is
reflected in the movie, The Million Dollar Baby, as a girl not only learns how to fight but when
and where in attempt to achieve her dreams. Even more, a quote from the movie by character
Eddie Dupris, Sometimes the best way to throw a punch is to take a step back, but step back too far
and you ain t fighting at all. clarifies what boxingis, not an opportunity to pummel someone, but a
dance, a tension amid two bodies attempting to decipher one another. This quote is so valuable and
poignant to me because it tells a story, not through words, but through
