Spiritual Courage And Illness
After scanning the web, I wanted to know what some of the people around me thought of the
word. I first went to Mr. Farrow and asked him a few questions. My conversation with him was a
bit scattered and I found he had a hard time staying on topic, but he gave me some good viewpoints
to his outlook on courage. I began with How do you see this word affect your personal life, his first
response to my word was I m so sick of the word courage because it s so overused. From that
statement I knew this interview was going to be a lot different than the other because of how
eccentric Mr. Farrow can be at times. He then continued on by saying, I think the key to
understanding courage is to think about it in the context of bravery. One can be brave,... Show more

I went to WorldCat.org and typed in courage. There was nearly 40,000 choices of books that had
to do with courage. I was astonished by the results, so I narrowed my search to see what the
majority of them are based off of. I discovered that The two main types of genres were Fictions
and Biographies. This is understandable because I would assume that people would want to share
and write about true stories of other peoples courage. These books usually tend to be very moving
to some because its staggering what some people have been through. For example, the book

The For The Affordable Care Act
Ahead of the 2012 elections both parties fought openly over how they would fix out of control
spending on health care entitlements. But neither side could be specific on how they would
make health care more affordable. If health care costs continued to climb at the current rate,
benefits for Medicare and Medicaid would exceed tax revenue gathered by 2030. Politicians
knew they had to find a way to make Medicare solvent or, it would consume all tax dollars
collected, but finding a way to rein in costs and make healthcare affordable for all Americans wasn

Matriarchal in Moso Society
Moso is a Chinese ethnic group that is famous for being a matriarchal society with minimal
contact from the outside world. In Moso matrilineal system, woman is the pillar of the family. As
the head of a family as well as a mother, a Moso woman is responsible to determine family s name,
decision, and inheritance. No one has right to replace woman s authority, even a man. This is the
primary point of a matriarchy which traces the side of Moso familys lineage through the descendant
of woman. What is great about Moso, despite being matriarchy, is that the society has no gender
preference. Moso society shares their workload wisely between man and woman. Man usually works
on labor intensive activities, such as traveling for trade, slaughtering livestock, or building a house.
Woman, on the other hand, engages in traditional activities including farming, cooking, or even
serving their family. Moreover, because of their walking marriagesystem, everything they have
earned, produced, and developed belongs to their family. One point which is mentioned in the
lecture by Professor Ma implies that the main point of Moso matrilineal family does not lie in the
relationship between husband and wife, but between brother and sister. In fact, Moso society has
successfully created a stable family structure through these walking marriage system and fair
division of gender roles.
Although the Moso freely practices a traditional marriage concept, which is also known as the
walking marriage system,
Great Bear Descriptive Writing
On a cold December day in 2014, I found myself snowboarding down the small and very icy hill of
Great Bear. On this chilly day there were very few people riding up the very bright red chair lift.
As the very few that were there went down the hill you could hear as skis or snowboards slice
through the thin layer of ice. From the Chair lift I can see everything on the hilland around the are.I
was carefully examining the hill and the area they call the Terrain Park . Little did I know this
day would make the next few months very difficult. As I stare into this are marked as most

The Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics
Since the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics in 3100 BC[3], writing has been a part of human
expression. Initially, writing was used for recording the stories, myths, and histories of nations that
were once mighty world powers. But as time wore on and literacy increased to the point that
scholars weren t the only people that could relay messages, writingbegan to morph into a form of
expression. The written word became not only the best way of recording the linear timeline of
what happened when, but also the more abstract social and cultural aspects of everyday people
living their everyday lives. History became the ideologies, fears, and political aggravations recorded
in the books of the people, regardless of the genre. And as times... Show more content on

47 Rothman)[5]. Rothman discovered that when the rate of discussion was slowed down, students
that wouldn t normally speak in class would have time to gather their thoughts so that they could
accurately contribute to the discussion. If a true democracy is to be had, this inclusion is crucial, but
extremely difficult without the help of writing. One author by the name of Eduardo Galeano writes
about this concept of inclusion through writing in his book Open Veins of Latin America. He makes
the argument that the reason authors write is to make sure that underrepresented voices are heard. In
his words, One writes, in reality, for the people whose luck or misfortune one identifies with the
hungry, the sleepless, the rebels, and the wretched of this earth and the majority of them are
illiterate. (p.12 Galeano)[3]. It is authors like Galeano describes, that increase the amount of
inclusion in the democracy of life. In discussing why he writes, Galeano simultaneously raises
awareness about the plight of the downtrodden.
Consequently, and possibly accidentally, Galeano s attempts to include the downtrodden in his
books also had the effect of raising awareness for their plight. Though he was one of the pioneering
writers for change, many other authors have used their writing prowess to raise awareness. One of
these authors was a
Reactivity Lab
Once the lab was completed, it was realized that there are different levels of reactivity between all
metals. It was also realized that they react to different things such as Calcium reacting to water and
the other four metals not reacting to water. To carry out the experiment, there was a set of steps that
were followed to get results. All five metals were placed in water in separate test tubes to start with.
Calcium was the only one that reacted with water while the rest of the metals didn t. Those metals
that had no reaction with water were taken aside and the water inside their test tube was poured out.
Once the water was poured out with the metal remaining in the test tube, weak acidwas poured in.
The results of the four metals with acid were then observed and recorded.... Show more content on

However, the only metal that had no reaction when placed in both water and acid was Copper.
Copper doesn t react with water because the oxygen in water is locked into a compound with one
part oxygen and two parts hydrogen. Copper also doesn t react with acids because its electrode
potential is higher than that of hydrogen, meaning that pure copper cannot displace hydrogen
from weak acids but can easily react with oxidising acids like nitric acid and sulfuric acid. The
purpose of this lab was to test the reactivity of certain metals, then create an activity series based
on observations. A potential source of error could have been when the water was being poured out
of the test tubes with metals that had no reactions, some of the metals that were in powder form
could have been accidentally poured out with the water and so when the acid was placed in there

The story By the Bog of Cats was about a woman named Hester losing two very important people
in her life; her mother, and the man she loved. The people of the bog think she is crazy and
idiotic after the death of her mother and after she killed her brother. The man she loved is getting
married and wants to take full custody of their daughter. Hester is dealing with the emotions of
this man leaving her and taking her daughter, while also being kicked out of her house. The play
tells the story of how Hester deals with this drama in her life. Hester is also mentally challenged

The costumes in the play helped shape the scenes. The wedding dress that Caroline wore helped
me understand the time period of the play and also helped me understand what was happening in
the play and why is Hester mad at her love. Hester s hair and makeup portrayed an outgoing,
spirited, and independent woman, with enough courage to manage herself. The rest of the
costumes were very fancy and elegant, revealing how much Hester stands out from the rest. Each
character had their own unique way of presenting their message and their identity. For example,
Caroline, who hated Hester, portrayed that by fighting with her and acting mad. The action of the
characters was clear except the one at the beginning of the play when Hester was carrying a dead
vulture and she puts it in a trash can. The mood lighting was really good, like for example,
whenever something bad and dangerous was going to happen the light would turn a dark shade of
red. More creative and out of the box ideas would ve helped a lot. The director was very effective
since they focused on little details like the mood, the emotions and the acting that all joint to bring
the play s climax. Also, the backgrounds and the stage directions helped set the mood of the play
and also the stage itself represented what was going on in the
Sacrifice In Romeo And Juliet
Love is not only an affection and feeling one has within him or herself, but also something that

great knowledge of love is William Shakespeare, a poet and playwright. Most of his 37 plays and

Walter Payton Essay
It is a popular adage that there are only two certain things in life death and taxes. But for the last
decade or so in the National Football League, there has been another sure thing as soon as he was
eligible in 1993, Walter Payton was destined to be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That is
exactly what happened in January, 1993. All that remains was the exclamation point on his
spectacular career enshrinement day on July 31, 1993, when Payton and four other members of the
Class of 1993 received pro football s highest honor.

In 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears from 1975 to 1987, Payton literally rewrote the NFL record

Walter takes pride in the little things, the blocking, the faking. Once against Cincinnati, he picked up
a couple of linebackers and liked to have killed them, Payton s last Bears coach, Mike Ditka,
remembers.

His teammate, Brian Baschnagel, insisted that Payton could play any position. Then he hesitated: I
guess at 5 10, 202 pounds, his size might limit him at defensive tackle. The most incredible thing I
ever saw was the time he threw me a 50 yard touchdown pass. He was literally going down and he
had to whip the ball that far sidearm.

Payton played football with the enthusiasm of a 10th grader trying to be the best tailback on the
team, teammate Dan Hampton once said. He trained tirelessly by weightlifting and jogging during
every off season and always appeared at training camp in perfect physical condition.

He missed only one game in his rookie 1975 campaign in his first 12 seasons. I could have played
but my coach, Jack Pardee, wouldn t let me. I don t count that as a miss, Payton insisted.

Payton never tried to avoid contact. In fact, he relished it. His only possible flaw was his reluctance
to run out of bounds. He would rather punish a tackler than let the tackler punish him.

More than one opponent accused him of going out of his way to run over them and Payton readily
admitted that was
Persuasive Essay On Raising Bilingual Children
Raising Bilingual Children As our society continues to grow, the normality of traveling across the
globe or connecting with people from all different ethnic backgrounds becomes more and more
common. Social Media and the efficiency of travel have all contributed to this flourish in global

taking multiple Spanish classes, I know it can be difficult to learn a new language later in life and
wish I had started to learn it earlier as a child. The younger a learner is when they begin to be
taught a new language, the easier it is for them to understand and remember. This is simply because
the younger a child is, the better they are at mimicking new sounds and pronunciation, making it
easier to learn new words. (Catherine Ford. Children should start learning languages at three, The

The Pros And Cons Of Community Health Grants
Grants have a great value in providing dental care in community health centers particularly dental
clinics that represent a large public investment to address the dental health needs of a diverse
underserved rural and urban communities, and uninsured populations. The grants that fund
community health centers play a critical role in financial support to provide dental services for
patients in Medicaid non expansion states who are more likely to be uninsured. Grant funding
enables community health centers to provide services not covered by most programs, such as adult
dental care, transportation, translation services, and use sliding fees for privately insured patients
who cannot afford their deductibles and cost sharing (Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, 2017).

The pros of receiving federal or state grants and some private charitable foundation include providing
free technical assistance. The federal grants encompass large funds that can support the mission of
the CHC with access to a large network of multiple partners, resources and guidance (Stombaugh,

federal types when compared to private foundations due to red tape. The drawback of grant funding
is increased oversight and monitoring of how funds are spent and whether results achieved matched
those promises (Stombaugh, 2016). Although private organization, community foundations provide
smaller grants; they may have simplicity in process of grant applications for eligible applicants and
they may provide technical assistance through hotline and
Examples Of Tolerance In Freedom Writers
Tolerance in Freedom Writers
In the movie freedom writers kids learn to be tolerant and respect others for their color and race. It
shows how these kids from the streets improve and change their perspective on color. The help from
their teacher Ms. Gruwell really inspired and changed them. In their minds everything is about color.
Slowly throughout the movie they change and accept others. In the beginning of the movie Erin
Gruwell the new teacher is joyful and tolerant of everyone. Her husband and she are happy and he
supports her teaching her new class. On the other hand, Eva, a girl who at first had no tolerance
for others and based everything off color had a father who was in jail and lived just with her
mother. Her whole life was dedicated to the gang life that was basically her family. She s not excited
about school and could really care less. In the middle of them movie Erin s husband starts to get
annoyed and insults those kids who are learning tolerance. The kids are doing fine and are really
changing already. Ms. Gruwell has come home late from school and her husband is blaming it on
the kids which leads to his annoyance. In Eva s life she is struggling because she is changing and
doesn t know if she should lie to protect her boyfriend or let the guy falsely accused free. She has
so much guilt because she knows the right thing to do, but since it s her boyfriend and shell get
punished by her gang she s having a hard time. Erin s family is also struggling
Evaluating Benjamin Todd s Speech From A Ted Talk
I decided to report my speech from a ted talk. I chose a topic that would be interesting enough to
hear and can easily be relatable. The speaker I chose to evaluate is Benjamin Todd. Todd did his
ted talk to persuade his audience to find work that they love instead of following their passion. At
first the title was confusing because in my opinion love and passion would go together, however
by listening to his speech throughout he was able to persuade me on how I should pick my career
and how I should avoid picking the wrong one. He also explains how a person should pick a career
that would benefit the society to gain a sense of fulfillment.

Todd delivers a successful speech as he uses hand gestures and does movements throughout that
correlated well with his speech. He raises the pitch of his voice while discussing a main point to
create emphasis on that specific idea. For example, when he tries to persuade his audience to do
something valuable and be altruistic he raises his voice to leave an impact on his audience. He
dresses business causal to appear formal but also look like a regular everyday person to relate to
his audience instead of being completely professional and dressing up in a suit and tie. He pauses
many times to let his audience process his main points. His posture and facial expressions made
him appear more confident which makes one likely to believe that the speaker knows what he is
talking about. He had an audience of about 20 50 people and throughout his speech held eye
contact with as many people as he can to keep them interested. He looks around at his audience
several times to keep them engaged. Todd also uses language such as such as his slogan do
something valuable throughout the speech to emphasize his ideas and make it sound more
