Pablo Neruda: Biographical Research
Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto, commonly known by his pen name as Pablo Neruda, was
born on July 12, 1904. Born in Parral, Chile, he was an only child, but his mother died a few
weeks after his birth. His father, a railroad worker decided to move to Temuco where he remarried
and had 2 kids. Graduating high school at the Men s Lyceum of Temuco, Pablo has already
published multiple poems including, Entusiasmo y Perseverancia Enthusiasm and Perseverance
and won a number of literary competitions. Heading into college, his father wanted his son to
become a teacher, even though his son s interest were on writing. Attending the University of
Chile, his father stopped providing money for his tuition when he learned that he was pursuing a
literary path (www.chileculture.org). Pablo s years at this college were said to be his prime
years, where he published the poem Veinte Poemas de Amor y una Canción Desesperada Twenty
Love Poems and a Song of Despair that was said to be one of his best works. Pablo Neruda
continued with his literary career and began traveling to several countries. Traveling to Paris, he
became a consul of the Spanish emigration in 1939 (nobelprize.org). After the events that occurred in
the Spanish Civil War, he was introduced to into politics and started applying it to his poems. After

His political standpoint thrived in his homeland, Chile, as well his love life. These experiences
can be the reason behind the poems like, Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair , and Ode to
the Orange . As a politician and poet, he was influenced by several people in his life, such as,
Gabriela Mistral, a woman who encouraged in with his poetry in his youth, as well
Essay on Holocaust and Rwanda Genocides
Propaganda was an elaborate and essential tool used extensively by Hitler and the Nazi s as well as
the Hutu s during their terrorizing reign of Germany and throughout Europe and the Hutu s horrific
acts of genocide that happened because of a culmination of deep ethnic tensions brewing over a
century and intense political corruption. Not only was it used to promote and endorse the party and
its leader s extreme racist values but also to mask the horrifying truths of what was to become known
as the Holocaust and the Rwanda Genocides. Anti Jewish measures and pogroms have taken place
numerous times throughout history, but never to the extent and successfulness attained by the Third
Reich. A clear reason for this level of success can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time Jews were being arrested simply because they were Jewish. This lead me to think
of just how time hasn t changed and how we have not learned from the past, because right after
September 11 happened Arab, Muslim or any Middle Eastern people were being arrested being
they were thought of as terrorists. During our survival panel lecture I remember hearing Betty
talk about how the teachers and students used to harass her and her younger brother. I really
could not believe that even the teachers, who were educated, I thought they would be a lot smarter
that to follow the ideology of Hitler. I understand they could not really stand up against him but
they could have not encouraged it in school. In Rwanda there were not as many forms of
propaganda as there were during the holocaust or I should say they were less obvious. The main
use of spreading propaganda was through their radio station RTLM. During the Genocide this is
the means the Hutu s used to remain with other Hutu s as well as threaten Tutsi s who may have
been in hiding or still alive, the announcer stated who ever survives will regret that we stayed for
the rest of his life (Gourevitch, 112). There was also a newspaper that sent out violent propaganda
towards the Tutsi s; one article read that the President as a Tutsi loving RPF accomplice, and the

Essay on Noahs Ark vs. Gilgamesh Epic
Noahs Ark vs. Gilgamesh Epic

The Gilgamesh Epic is an ancient Mesopotamian story about life and the suffering one must
endure while alive. Included in the story, is a tale of a great flood that covered the earth, killing
all but a select few of it s inhabitants. This story of a great flood is common to most people, and has
affected history in several ways. It s presence in the Gilgamesh Epic has caused many people to
search for evidence that a great flood actually happened. It has also caused several other religions
and cultures to take the same basic story, claiming it for their own.

Whether in Christianity in the form of Noah s Ark, or through Mesopotamian history in the form of
an immortal, the idea of a great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He next sent out a dove, which returned without finding a place to rest. A week later he set out the
dove again, and it returned with an olive leaf. The next week, the dove didn t return. Everyone then
emerged from the ark. Noah built an altar and made a sacrifice to God, and God promised never
again to destroy all living creatures with a flood, giving the rainbow as a sign of His covenant.

The similarities between the two stories are obvious for the most part. It makes one wonder if
perhaps Noah and Utnapishnem were the same person, and the different stories may have been
caused by the same happening seen from different viewpoints. Though this may be the only logical
answer, many people are still searching for the truth behind the tales. This has lead many people to
devoting their lives to finding scientific proof that a flood covering a vast stretch of land actually
occurred several centuries ago.

The search for proof of a great flood has been going on for decades. Based primarily in the Middle
East, the search begins with questioning history for any detail that may suggest there was a flood.
Then they must ask what conditions are necessary for causing a flood of the magnitude described
in the Gilgamesh Epic, or that may have seemed as large to the people affected by it. If these
conditions were indeed met, what scientific evidence do we have that could prove it really happened?

A flood of the magnitude stated in these

The Ways And Means Approved The Marihuana Tax Act
The Ways and Means approved the Marihuana Tax Act despite the pushback from the American
Medical Association. The importance of that approval from the Ways and Means Committee can t
be understated because many Congressmen blindly accepted their recommendations. Otherwise,
they were completely unfamiliar with marijuana. The bill came up for vote in the House at the
end of a Friday session with many House members having already left for the weekend. Rep. Snell
from New York requested that the vote take place at another time. I don t know anything about the
bill. It may be all right and it may be that everyone is for it, but as a general principle, I am against
bringing up any important legislation, and I suppose this is important, since it... Show more content

Rep. Vinson from Ways and Means lied about Woodward s testimony. He said that Dr. Wharton and
the AMA fully supported the bill.
The Marihuana Tax Act passed through the Senate just as easily. Senate leaders brushed off thorough
testimony from hemp farmers who warned that the bill would end their business. They lobbied for
an exemption for hemp from the bill. One of those of those hemp farmers, Matt Rens, grew quite
frustrated with the proceedings:

Matt Rens: The real purpose of this bill is not to raise money, is it?
Senator Brown: Well, we are sticking to the proposition that it is.
Matt Rens: It will cost a million (jobs).
Senator Brown: We thank you, Mr. Rens. (dismissed)

The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 didn t actually ban marijuana. Like the Harrison Act, it effectively
taxed marijuana into the shadows of the black market. Marijuana had sold for about $1 an ounce at
the time, but the bill added a tax of $100 an ounce. The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 effectively taxed
and regulated the hemp industry out of business.
The reporting and registration requirements alone brought operations for hemp manufacturers to a
standstill. The Bureau of Narcotics received many letters from the hemp industry requesting
leniency. One letter, just months after the bill passed, from H.W. Bellrose on October 12, 1937
promised that a re birth of the industry was imminent because of the capacity of his World
Ushering in Church
THE ROLE OF USHERING IN THE LOCAL CHURCH

The Scriptural Foundation for Ushering

Ushering in your local church involves much more than shaking hands and shining your shoes.
Some churches think that ushers are just bucket passers, so they grab anybody to pass the bucket.
Let s just grab ol Larry when he comes walking in. Let s just get anybody. You don t want to get
just anybody, because you don t want an anybody offering. You have been selected as an usher; you
are in the ministry of helps, employed by Almighty God.

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that
miracles, then gifts of healing, HELPS, governments, diversities of tongues. ... Show more content

Tasks Involved in Ushering

Many churches seem to demoralize an usher s duties, thinking they are very limited and unimportant.
However, the duties of an usher range far beyond passing buckets and shaking hands and encompass
weighty and meaningful tasks. I specifically define these duties in four areas.

Assist the Pastor

Number one, an usher assists the pastor and helps him bring his vision for the local church to
fulfilment. As an usher, your presence will build up and add to the wellbeing of your church.
The pastor stands up and says, It s time for an offering. When an army of ushers stand and come
forth, that impresses people. They think, Wow, look at those people who are here to serve. Sadly,
in some churches, when the pastor gets up to take an offering, he has to say, Could we have some
help? Is there anybody here who wants to serve God? Somebody jump up, and give us a hand
here! We need some help over here or over there. People are watching this thinking Hmm, I wonder
what s going on around here? Nobody wants to assist the pastor.
Meet and Greet

Number two, an usher is God s public relations man and represents the church to every new visitor.
Because the pastor of a large church cannot personally greet all the people before a service, it is the
usher s responsibility to make visitors feel welcome and important.

Now, I will discuss this in

Solubility Experiment
The definition of solubility is a property of a solid, liquid, or gas solute to dissolve in a solid,
liquid, or gas solvent. The two parts of a solution are the solvent and the solute. When a solute is
dissolved, particles of the solute leave each other and become surrounded by particles of the solvent.
In this lab, we tested stirring speed, concentration, particle size, and temperature and their effect on
solubility. The question was, How can you control the rate at which certain salts dissolve in water?
My hypothesis for stirring speed was, If stirring speed is increased, then solubility is increased. My
hypothesis for concentration was, If concentration is increased, then solubility is decreased. My
hypothesis for particle size was, If particle size is increased, then solubility is increased. My
hypothesis for temperature was, If temperature is increased, then solubility is increased.

Procter amp; Gamble: A Case Study Analysis

Abstract
Procter amp; Gamble is a consumer goods company that began in 1837 and has grown to be a leader
of its industry. It has over 800 brands worldwide, 25 of which generate more than 1 billion dollars
in sales, including Tide, Downy, Always, Oral B, Crest, Gillette, Febreze, Swiffer, and Duracell.
However, in the last 10 years, P amp;G has experienced a loss of sales. Through an analysis of the
company and its history, its visions and goals, a SWOT analysis, and the Porter s Five Forces Model,
the problems Procter amp; Gamble face will be identified, discussed, and possible solutions and
recommendations will be given.

319).
Through the 9 years of Lafley s leadership, P amp;G updated all of its 200 brands by adding
innovative new products (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, amp; McNamara, 2014, pg. C199), including a
battery powered brush called Tide StainBrush, and creating new products, like Crest White Strips.
Lafley also changed the belief that all new and innovative products had to be created within
Procter amp; Gamble, stressing that many new products should be created elsewhere. This
Connect and Develop model of innovation allowed the company to get almost 50 percent of its
new product ideas from outside the firm (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, amp; McNamara, 2014, pg.
C199).Along with continued innovation, Lafley also pushed for P amp;G to move away from
basic consumer products such as laundry detergents , which can easily be knocked off by private
labels, to higher margin products (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, amp; McNamara, 2014, pg. C199). This
included the acquisition of Gillette, Clairol, and Wella, as well as offering designer fragrances
through license agreements.
When Lafley stepped down as CEO of P amp;G in 2009, he left McDonald with some problems,
including some beyond his control, such as the recession of 2008. Some of these issues include the
lack of blockbuster ideas from the Connect and Develop program (however, this program did help
to reduce expenses for P amp;G) and increased competition from companies like Unilever and
