Similarities Between Midsummer Night s Dream And The Tempest
Blandy PerezMrs. JaeggiA.P English April 1, 2015Super Natural theme from Midsummer Night s
Dream and The Tempest (Compare/Contrast)The Super Natural theme creates a big effect on both
plays Midsummer Night s Dream and The Tempest by William Shakespeare. Super Natural can be
defined as anything that is not normal. Super Natural is used in Midsummer Night s Dream to
create disagreements and resolve things in the play. The Super Natural element is used in The
Tempest through the use of Black Magic used by the evil witch Sycorax and the White Magic used
by Prospero, the Duke of Milan. William Shakespeare uses the Super Natural theme in many of his
plays to continue the plot in the direction he wants. It is how the characters in the play react in order
to determine the way the play is set. In both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These fairies cause disagreements and also resolutions throughout the play. One example of the
effect that fairies make in the play is when Puck mistakenly enchants Lysander into falling in love
with Helena instead of Demetrius. This mistake only gets worst when Oberon and Puck enchant
Demetrius into falling in love with Helena as well. Now, both men are in love with Helena. The
Super Natural can also be seen in the play when Oberon tells Puck that he has been targeted by
cupid s arrow and now serves as a love potion. The juice of it on sleeping eye lids laid will make
or man or woman madly dotes upon the next live creature that is sees (II.I.173 175) Midsummer
Night s Dream was written by William Shakespeare between 1594 and 1596. Midsummer Night is
believed to be less dramatic and tragic than The Tempest . The Super Natural element in
Midsummer Night s Dream is less vengeful and dark, but more childish and playful. In
Midsummer Night s Dream, the whole play revolves around magic and fairies. If Puck had never
charmed Lysander or if Puck had charmed Demetrius instead of Lysander, the play would not have
been as dramatic as we know of it
Community Of Practice
Introduction
As our world becomes increasingly complex, it is important for today s leaders to develop a
network of committed individuals who are willing to share knowledge and wisdom, challenge
beliefs, and invest in each other s success. These networks or communities of practice take many
different forms, such as professional learning communities (PLC), professional learning networks
(PLN), mentoring, coaching, social media groups, or social media chats. Even though each
community may take many different shapes and forms, they share common characteristics, such as a
mutual interest, meaningful interaction, and the investment of time. Although communities of
practice require a significant investment of time, interaction, and commitment, I ... Show more

Without time spent interacting and developing relationships with a group of individuals, we fail to
establish the trust that is necessary for growth to occur. Time helps develop the trust which is
required to challenge our thinking, motivate us to learn from others, and cultivate growth. A good
example of this occurred during the time of Jesus three year ministry on earth. He invested a
substantial amount of time mentoring, coaching, and challenging his disciples to adequately prepare
them to share the gospel throughout Europe and Asia.
In our fast paced society, finding time is a difficult task; however, throughout my interviews with
leaders from various professions, I have been reminded me of the correlation between time and
growth. Not only is time essential for developing trust, but it is also critical to growth. Many of the
leaders I interviewed have learned to spent significant amounts of time disciplining themselves
practice their skills, learn from others, and challenge their beliefs. Although I have always enjoyed
learning, I have found that I have isolated myself in my learning experiences. At times, I have
ignored and failed to appreciate the contributions of others. My ignorance has blinded me from trying
new ideas, challenging old beliefs, and trusting others enough to cultivate
Operation Cyclone Essay
This paper discusses the United States of America Central Intelligence Agency s (CIA) counter to the
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) 1979 invasion of Afghanistan. Operation Cyclone was a
multinational plan to defeat the Soviet aggression in Afghanistan and halt the advancement of
communism. Through the covert assistance of Operation Cyclone, the Mujahideen fighters managed
over the ten year war to defeat the massive Soviet Army and re establish their sovereignty. The
lessons learned by the Mujahideen guerillas would later be taken to task following the al Qaeda
attack on America on 11 September 2001. The subsequent decade plus war would eerily resemble the
Russia Afghanistan conflict but with different results. This research... Show more content on

The Mujahideen warlords proved to admirable warriors but ineffective governmental leaders and
massive infighting ensued. A group of Pashtun fundamentalists under the title of the Taliban saw an
opportunity to unite Afghanistan and in 1994 seized Kandahar as a foothold into the country. The
civil war culminated in 1998 with the fall of the United Front in the battle of Mazar i Sharif. The
Taliban was now the primary ruling party in Afghanistan, supported by the known terrorist group al
Qaeda. This relationship would prove deadly for 3,000 Americans on 11 September 2001, when al
Qaeda conducted terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Unfortunately, the CIA
did not have an effective plan on how to retrieve the unused Stingers from the Mujahideen. Bruce s
(2001) report found the following:
When the Russian forces withdrew from Afghanistan in 1989, the CIA offered a $35,000 bounty for
every unused Stinger returned. But by that time, the weapons were selling for up to twice that
amount on the international black market and few found their way back to the U.S. (p.1)
These black market stingers have reportedly been used in conflicts in Chechnya, Lebanon, and as
close to the U.S. as Columbia. Fortunately, there is no historical evidence that any of these missiles
have ever been used against U.S. forces; however, the loss of accountability must be looked on as a
failure for the
Big Brother Is Watching You Analysis
1984 predicted the totalitarian government control of the media which concerns many citizens
today. The citizens of Oceania feared Big Brother as he symbolized the extent of the power of the
Party. Posters were plastered everywhere with the caption Big Brother is Watching You (Orwell 2),
with eyes that looked as if they were staring at you. Big Brother had control of all the media and
determined what you were told, saw, and read. In 1984, propaganda such as the Two Minutes Hate
was used by the Party against the citizens who had philosophical differences with the government.
Likewise, this medium was also a means to empower those who agreed. The people in charge can
control a population by entrapping in the crisis of the NOW, advancing their agenda without much
opposition from the citizenry (Whitehead 4). Such a dichotomy strengthens those who are compliant
and identifies, and eventually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recently there was a study based on the influence of government control in China. All of the
people reported that in China, the air pollution was controlled by the government. However, only
half of the people reported the United States controlled the United State s air pollution. The
reports are different as the government used propaganda to control the people s beliefs (Bai 17).
For the Party, their problem to solve was to determine what another human being is thinking
(Orwell 193). One solution was the idea of a telescreen which received and transmitted
simultaneously (Orwell 3) nearly every comment and action of an individual. Could this have
been Orwell s prediction of what we now have as cell phones? Some citizens lived in fear and they
knew that it was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place
or within range of a telescreen (Orwell 62) because the government was watching one at all
Estelle s Faith Quotes
There is one more situation in which Estelle s bad faith is extremely evident in the play. Estelle is
experiencing her last connection to the human world where she states I m only half here. I m
only half wicked, and half of me is down there with you, clean and crystal clear as running water.
(No Exit 32). Estelle s bad faith in this case is represented by her inability to accept not only the
fact that since she is a sum of her actions she is indeed fully wicked but, it is also in her refusal to
accept the fact that although a person may not know what she has done it does not mean that the
part of her seen from that person in any represents who she truly is. When she states that half of me
is clean and crystal clear as running water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He later is attempting to convince Inez that he is not a coward and states Can one possibly be a
coward when one s deliberately courted danger at every turn? And can one judge a life by a
single action. (No Exit 43). If it were the case that this was the only time Garcin were acting like a
coward it may not be possible to fully judge him based upon one action but, Inez points out that
For thirty years you dreamt you were a hero and condoned a thousand petty lapses. (No Exit 43).
Inez is arguing that Garcin has always been lying to himself and has been dreaming that he was a
hero but, has actually just been self deceiving himself whenever he did something cowardly
which she points out by saying he condoned a thousand petty lapses which is referring to perhaps
smaller cowardly acts that he has done throughout his life that he refused to accept as indicating
he was a coward. Then even past that she states Then a day came when you were up against it, the
red light of real danger and you took the train to Mexico. (No Exit 43) Inez perfectly points out
how Garcin has always been acting in bad faith up until the last actions he ever took. By denying
the fact that he is a coward and not the hero he attempts to paint himself as it reveals that Garcin
lived a life full of inauthenticity since he has never accepted the fact that he is a coward because
his actions are that of a coward. Garcin then tries defending himself one last time against Inez as
he argues I died to soon. I wasn t allowed time to to do my deeds. (No Exit 43) he is attempting to
blame the fact that he died too soon as the reason he was never able to act as the hero he tries to
show himself as. This argument is directly counteracted by existentialism which is pointed out by
Inez when she says One always dies too soon... And yet one s life is complete at that moment... You
are your life, and nothing else.
The Setting In The Most Dangerous Game
A man falls overboard and is lost at sea. He washes up on a strange island with no means of escape
and no possible way of contacting anyone to rescue him. He is trapped on the island. This is one
way the setting of The Most Dangerous Game enhances the plot by adding suspense, action and
mystifying image in the readers of the setting and adding an atmosphere of mystery.
The first area that the setting enhances the plot is in the feeling of suspense in the story. If the
story hadn t taken in a place with thick forest, a large swamp, and most of all being on an island,
this story wouldn t have as interesting or suspenseful as it is. Since the setting is on an island
with only Rainsford and Zaroff, this gives a feeling of being trapped. As there is no escape but if
the story was on the mainland there would be a much easier means of escape. The forest also adds
greatly to the plot, as without the forest Rainsford could not have hid as well as he did, set many
traps to help even odds, and beat the Zaroff at his own game and ambush him in his own home.
Without these key setting pieces, The Most Dangerous Game would have been a much duller story.

The mystery the setting gives to the story is one of the major plot components that keeps The Most
Dangerous Game a constant page turner. Right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the setting hadn t been on the ocean in the beginning, it would have been impossible for
Rainsford to have ever fallen overboard and wash up on Zaroff s island. If Rainsford had never
washed up on the island, there never would have been a hunt and the event that happen during the
hunt. Without the setting being a thick overgrown jungle, Rainsford would have never been able to
survive for as long as he did. The jungle setting allowed Rainsford to make liberal use of traps and
false trails to trick Zaroff and buy himself time.

Cause And Effects Of Deforestation
A tree is beautiful, but what s more, it has a right to life; like water, the sun and the stars, it is
essential. Life on earth is inconceivable without trees. Forests create climate, climate influences
peoples character, and so on and so forth. There can be neither civilization nor happiness if forests
crash down under the axe, if the climate is harsh and severe, if people are also harsh and severe. ...
What a terrible future! Anton Pavlovich Chekhov
The forest is a place filled with many wonders. Unfortunately, because of the effects deforestation it s
quickly being consumed away, due to the need of agriculture, livestock, and also the need to create
housing, according to the. According to Alina Bradford a contributing writer for live science she
writes in her article deforestation fact, cause and effects this is quoted,
NASA predicts that if current deforestation levels proceed, the world s rainforests may be
completely in as little as 100 years .
Deforestation is leading to many problematic issues in our environment like damaging water cycles,
corrupting the soil and destroying wildlife.
First, the effects of deforestation will have trouble effects on the planet water cycles because the
trees help gather in maintain moisture. Trees Play a gigantic roll to the water cycle. They absorb rain
fall and produce water vapor that is released into the atmosphere.
Trees also reduces the amount of pollution in the water, according to the North Carolina State

Heroes Paper
The world needs heroes, but what really is a hero? A hero is someone who shows remarkable
perseverance and courage. Perseverance means that you never give up and courage is when you
are not afraid to do something. A hero should also be hard working which means they always do
their best and does it diligently. Anyone who shows any of these qualities is a hero. A true hero is a
person that is hard working. Jackie Robinson is perfect for this. He was the 1st African American to
play major league baseball in history. His road to success was not so easy though. He was
mistreated by all of the other white players in the league because they didn t like him. Jackie

She became known throughout the south as Moses. Harriet Tubman s perseverance helped bring
over 1000 slaves out of slavery and shows each and every one of us today that if you strive to do the
right thing, then good things will happen. One of the most important qualities of a hero is
responsibility. My mom would be a prime of example of this quality. She mom is the epitome of
responsibility. My mom had me when she was young and even though she was young, she always
took good care of me. She always got me food to eat and a place to lay my head. She has always
been there for me when I needed her. My mom works around the house and keeps everything
running smoothly. Instead of sitting around all day at home, she does work to make the house
look nice. She washes dishes, vacuums, and cleans all of the rooms. If our house did not have my
mom we would be in complete chaos. My mom always says, If you show that you are responsible
then you will be well respected. One big way that my mom shows that she is responsible is that
she makes dinner for the whole family. She does this every single night and it is always a good
dish. My mom shows that if you are responsible, people will think highly of you. We can all think
of a hero as wearing tights and saving civilians in a city, but the examples of these people show what
a real hero is. A real hero is hardworking, shows remarkable perseverance, and
