360 Peer Review
While reflecting on my time at the Chief Petty Officer s Academy (CPOA), three elements of
learning most impacted my persona and changed me as a leader. These elements of learning include
both class room presentations and personal interactions with fellow attendees. The three elements of
learning that will be discussed in this paper are 360 peer review report, understanding generational
gaps, and recognition that everyone has different experiences within the mess. Each element has
changed how I view the Coast Guard and will shape my future interactions with others. The first
element of learningthat impacted me was that of the 360 peer review. I feared and most
anticipated this section because I value the constructive feedback I knew it would give. I sent the
survey to a mix of people, but more favored members in which I was in a supervisor role while
they were experiencing a personal hardship. Therefore I was unsure of the response I would
receive, but valued the input I receive. It was great to know that I... Show more content on

This presentation was interesting to me because I have done my own studies on the subject in
order to become a better leader and father. The most interesting aspect of the conversation was the
input from others in the class. It was nice to know that others were feeling the same way that I
was when attempting to relate to the up and coming generation. My roommate put it best to me in
the form of an analogy; a professional coach in sports does not ask their players to conform to
their rule, they conform to what works for the players. This analogy helped me understand that I
need to be more open to changing to my crew, other than requiring my crew to change to my style.
The end goal is to complete the mission, just like a sports team if to win the game. We must work
together and achieve the same goal. I found this same concept valuable when working within the

The United States Census Bureau Agency
The United States Census Bureau reported in a recent news release that one in five children
receive food stamps. The report continues to notate statistics that this is a dramatic increase from
the one in eight children that received benefits prior to the recession as of 2007, and that the
number of children living in single parent households has tripled from the information gathered in
1940. (1) These parents struggle on a daily basis to provide for their children in a manner that is
barely comfortable by middle class standards. Aside from the challenge of providing basic nutrition,
these parents are challenged with furnishing their families with a roof over their heads, basic
utilities, a safe child care experience, and sufficient clothing to wear to school. These parents
already have to sift through hand me downs from relatives and community organizations for
clothing with minimal stains and shoes without holes in them. When their utilities are about to be
shut off, they sometimes wait in lines for hours for a small grant to help keep the lights on and the
house warm. They have to bow their heads in shame when asking for the help of their churches and
local community. They do everything in their power to provide a sense of normalcy to their children
s lives. Their children are already left out of school and extracurricular activities because they cannot
afford the costs and are often working during the times that these activities are taking place. When an

Mortensen s Estimates Of Midlands s Cost Of Capital
#1
Mortensen s estimates of Midlands s cost of capital are. The Mortensen s estimates are used for
Asset appraisals for capital budgeting and accounting, assessment of performance analysis, merger
and acquisition possible proposals, and possible stock repurchasing/issuing decisions or dividends
and retained earnings. The Cost of capital is an essential component in WACC calculations.

#2
Mortensen computed the cost of debt for each division by adding a premium, or spread, over the
U.S Treasury s securities of a similar maturities. To find rD we use the interest rate that we
currently pay on the new loans, instead of using CAPM. The consolidated spread to the treasury
was given on table at 1.62%. Therefore rD is equal to the 30 year yields plus the overall
consolidated spread. rD=4.98%+1.62% or 6.60%. The tax rate is then calculated based on exhibit 1
of the average of 2004 2006. The calculation is the income tax divided by the income before taxes,
which equals 39.73%

EMRP is based on the Exhibit 6, the traditional data showed approximately 6.0% EMRP, and the
surveys showed lower EMRP (2.5% 4.7%), a research over the industry with help from outsiders,
who has broader industry knowledge, would result a better and up to date EMRP for Midland. The
industry agreed on the current estimate of 5.0%. Midland used 5.0% as its Equity Market Risk

Underrepresented School Counselors
Do School Counselors Impact Whether Underrepresented Student are College or Career Ready?
ASCA, the American School Counseling Association, is the foremost association that provides
researched components and foundations that detail how an effective school counseling program
should be established and maintained (ASCA, 2012). The organization was founded in 1952, and
established the ASCA: Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) in 2003. The ASCA model is
broken down into four components: 1. Foundation, 2. Delivery, 3. Management, 4. Accountability.
Within the ASCA model Foundation component there are three domains. The Mindsets and
Behaviors component is where college/career readiness is outlined. The ASCA (2012) model

all (2010) as an instrument that is a web based application that provides critical data (student scores)
on a school or district s current college readiness practices, and examines annual progress indicators
on those practices. The School Diagnostic includes a series of surveys for teachers, administrators,
counselors, and students. This diagnostic tool measures and assesses the students on 1,100 different
items that come from the following dimensions: Academic, Contextual Skills, Key Cognitive
Strategies, and Key Content Strategies. A study conducted by Lombardi, Conley, Seburn, and
Downs (2012) found the CCRD tool was extremely helpful to administration and other school staff
members in deciphering if first generation, or underrepresented, students were college/career ready.
This assessment will be taken by the students at each school at the beginning of their junior year of
high school, beginning of their senior year, and at the end of their senior year. These three scores on
each assessment, will allow the researcher the ability to compare data points over an extended period
of time, to ascertain if a school counseling program has a substantial impact on underrepresented
students college/career
Auto Insurance Liability
If a person gets injured as a passenger in a vehicle, he or she

may be entitled to compensation for the damages received.

The ability to recover and the amount of the recovery is based

on many factors.

Liability

If the plaintiff sues the driver or seeks to recover under an

auto insurance claim, he or she must be able to show that the

driver is liable. One or both drivers can be liable for the accident.

If only one vehicle was involved in the accident, the claim will

be on the driver s insurance policy. This type of claim is

straightforward because the driver of the automobile has usually

done something incorrect or failed to do something that

resulted in the accident. In cases involving more than one

driver, the insurance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Whether the passenger files a

claim or multiple claims will depend on the actual

circumstances. For example, if one of the drivers was

obviously not negligent based on the circumstances, such as

being in a legally parked vehicle or being rear ended, the

passenger may file a claim against the other driver.

The process of filing a claim may be different if the accident

occurred in a no fault state. These claims do not require on

the showing of negligence in order to provide for the medical

portion of the claim.

Settlement Issues
The next part of the process is to attempt to settle the claim. If

two vehicles were involved in the accident, neither party may

want to settle because each party claims the other was

negligent. Another issue could be be if more than one

passenger was in the vehicle and received damages or

injures. Most insurance policies have a maximum amount of

recoverable compensation for all injury claims. If multiple

passengers suffer serious injuries, each passenger may need

to file a seperate lawsuit against the driver at fault in order to

recover the full amount of their damages.

Comparative Fault

In some instances, insurance companies may try to

Biography of Jeffrey Dahmer, A Murderer Essay
Biography of Jeffrey Dahmer, A Murderer Jeffrey Dahmer was born May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. He had a typical family, which consisted of his father Lionel Dahmer, his mother Joyce
Dahmer, and his little brother David. When Jeffrey was eight years old, he and his family moved
to the small town of Bath Township, Ohio. Since Jeffrey didn t have any friends there, he would
spend most of his time in the woods behind their house. There he would mutilate and decapitate
small animals, mostly dogs, cats, and squirrels. His parents worried but figured it was just a boy
thing. When Jeffrey started high school, everybody tried to keep their distance from him. They
thought he was kind of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Jeffrey thought his abandonment was over, his father came back on July 24, 1978, to tell
him that he and Jeffrey s mother were getting a divorce. Jeffrey took the divorce hard, as most
children do. At this time Jeffery was eighteen so the court didn t decide which parent he would
live with. Lionel and Joyce were fighting over who would get custody of David. This enraged
Jeffrey because once again he felt unwanted, like they didn t care where he lived. To him he just
saw it as being abandoned by his own parents. It ended up that Joyce got full custody of David and
they moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Jeffrey stayed in the same house in Bath Township
and his father was nowhere to be found. A while later Lionel returned with a new girlfriend to
live in the same house with Jeffrey. Shortly after, Jeffrey started college at Ohio State University
in Columbus, Ohio. He stayed there only long enough to finish out the first quarter of his
freshman year. On December 29, 1978, Jeffrey started a three year hitch in the U.S. Army. Not
even a year later Jeffrey completed his training as a medical specialist and was assigned post in
Baumholder, Germany. About two years later, on March 26, 1981, he was discharged from the
army in South Carolina because he was drinking so heavily and was always depressed. After that he
somehow found his way to South Florida. In 1982 Jeffrey moved

New Mexico), Mexico, Central America, and South America [1]. Disease infection results from
inhaling the spores from soil fungus Coccidioides immitis or Coccidioides posadasii [1]. The two
fungi are located in separate regional locations, however, studies have shown that they are relatively
identical and manifest the disease in the same way. Calling home in arid, desert areas,
Coccidioidomycosisspores are found in lower elevations, 4 inches or more under sandy soil. They
are endemic in areas with less than 20 inches of rain per year [1]. The most common opportunity to

In January 1994, the 6.7 Northridge Earthquake in California disturbed the soil and as a result of
the magnitude, aftershocks, and subsequent landslides, Coccidioidomycosis fungi became
aerosolized and dispersed [5]. 203 cases were identified in Ventura County, but
Coccidioidomycosis was not the original diagnosis [5]. Data on Coccidioidomycosis is limited
due to varieties in state reporting, testing practices, and misunderstanding of the disease [1]. A
general conclusion is that 10 50% of those living in endemic areas have been exposed to some
form of the disease and each year, approximately 150,000 new cases will occur in the United
States [1]. In 2010, Arizona and California were the two states with the highest incidence of
Coccidioidomycosis, with 186 new cases per 100,000 population in Arizona and 11.5 new cases
per 100,000 in California [1]. From 2000 2011, there were 25,217 hospitalizations for 15,747
patients in California [3]. Many patients were readmitted because they relapsed at least once after
their medication prescription ended. This totaled over $2 billion in hospital bills [3]. Over the years,
the highest communities at risk have been men, people over the age of 65, Hispanics, Filipinos,
Native Americans, pregnant women, and those with
