Themes in Frankenstein Essay
Frankenstein deals with two main social concerns, the level of moral responsibility that a creator
possesses in relation to his creation, as well as the issue of the moral boundaries that exists in one
s quest for knowledge, including the fine line between good and bad knowledge, The novel also
deals with two main human concerns, which include a person s goals or aspirations as well as the
issue of pride and its affect on a person.
Mary Shelley highlights the issue of moral responsibility by the fact that Frankenstein neglects the
issue at first, but then realises its importance. Frankenstein completely ignores his moral
responsibility in relation to his work initially, blinded by his emotions, but once he realised that he

Bad knowledge in contrast, is knowledge that is single minded, driven by personal gain, and
possesses very little constraints.
Pride is probably the most important human issue that Mary Shelley explores, with Frankenstein s
search for knowledge being more a quest for glory than one that was going to genuinely benefit
society. A new species would bless me as it creator and sourceNO father could claim the gratitude of
his child so completely as I should deserve theirs. Frankenstein s pride is blatantly displayed, as he
disregards, his family, friends and his environment to spend day and night creating the creature,
only to become conscious of the fact that it s a monster. His pride is further shown by the fact that
he let s an innocent woman die just to preserve his reputation by not speaking out. The way pride is
portrayed in the novel indicates that society back then was heavily based on ones reputation and
prestige.
Goals or aspirations is closely tied in with the other issues discussed earlier, in that both
Frankenstein and Walton seek glory, but both realise, Frankenstein the hard way that glory comes
at a price, and risks need to be taken in order to achieve one s goal, but its up to that person to
decide where the risk is too great. This issue does reflect the values of Shelley s society, in that the

How Digestive System Work Together
The digestive system helps the humans break down food and turn it into nutrients. The digestive
system is made up of a lot of different organs such as salivary glands, pharynx, mouth, esophagus,
stomach, liver, gallbladder, small intestine, large intestine, and pancreas. Salivary glands produce
saliva, which keeps the mouth and other parts of the digestive systemmoist. The pharynx role in the
digestive system is to connect the nose and mouth to the esophagus. The mouth is used for putting
in food and also eating the food. The esophagus has only one function and it is to carry food, saliva,
and liquid. The stomach receives the food from the esophagus and secretes acid and enzymes that
digest food. The liver regulates the composition of blood,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Life of Carl Friedrich Gauss
Mathematicians have always formed a very important role in history. From the Greeks to the modern
era, mathematicians have made spectacular discoveries and critical contributions to the world of
mathematics. Because of great mathematicians, the human race is exploring and discovering
unknown boundaries of space and technology. The life of Carl Friedrich Gausswas full of
phenomenal adventures and discoveries. He was born in Brunswick, Germany on April 30th,
1777 to poor working class parents. Gauss father was known as a hard worker and an honest man
but heavily discouraged Gauss from attending school to follow a family trade. On the other hand,
Gauss mother and uncle recognized his remarkable intelligence at an early age. Gauss
intelligence was so powerful that one day at the age ten solved the problem that his arithmetic
instructor gave him with one number, 5,050. The simple math problem for Gauss was to write all
whole numbers between one and 100 and add up their sum. Furthermore, he first went to college
at the age of fourteen and was financially sustained by Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand who was the Duke
of Brunswick. While studying language at Caroline College, he discovered that a regular polygon
with seventeen sides could be drawn with a compass and a straight edge. He was so impressed with
his discovery that he turned to study mathematics. Mathematics composed a vital part of the life of

This standard is overwhelmingly portrayed as white beauty. Starting from a young age this
standard of beauty is forged in our minds; we want to look like these actors and models; we want
to be thin, fit, youthful looking, have a symmetrical face and possibly even posses a particular

Pauline Breedlove, like her husband Cholly, is at first portrayed as just another antagonist in the
novel, helping push Pecola further and further to insanity. Morrison makes it a point to illustrate
how Pauline arrives in her state as an antagonist; she does not just create empty monsters; she
tries to make all of the antagonists sympathetic in some way to justify how they become so. After
moving up north with Cholly to find work Pauline, quickly becomes isolated and depressed.
Pauline tries to fit in by attempting to adapt to the northerners speech, fashion, and appearance
that is modeled after the white beauty standard, unfortunately she could never perfect or change
herself enough to be accepted which leads to her isolation. Pauline felt uncomfortable with the
few black women she met. They were amused by her because she did not straighten her hair.
When she tried to make up her face as they did, it came off rather badly. Their goading glances
and private snickers at her way of talking (saying chil ren ) and dressing developed in her a desire
for new clothes. (Pg. 116). It was through this isolation during her pregnancy that she began to

Analysis of the Political and Social Consequences for Iran of the 1979 Revolution
When Ayatollah Khomeini ousted Mohammed Reza Shah and ended the Pahlavi dynasty in the
revolution of 1979 many political and social consequences took place. These consequences were due
to vital decisions made by him but also due to repercussions of the revolution itself. With Iran being
dominated predominantly by monarchies for the past several decades with the most recent being the
Pahlavi dynasty the public had been through an era of radical yet superficial modernisation and
westernisation . Khomeini entered his rule with an extremist Islamic rule that was non existent
under the previous Shahs and this was bound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a country backed by a 99% Shi ite population he moved the country in the direction of a
theocracy. This is one of the major political consequences of the 79 revolution and it meant that
over time Khomeini was able to abolish the Shahs regime, eradicating many of the top members of
his regime, and create an Islamic Republic Party in 1979, and eventually make this the state party.
The Ayatollah had to deal with foreign influence within the country. The Shah had welcomed western
influence into the country but Khomeini disliked this dependence and his revolution ended up in a
bitter quarrel with western powers such as the US and Britain. The quarrel rose to new levels when
members of the Iranian public took American embassy workers hostage and were not released until
1980. The consequence was a ruined diplomatic tie with the Carter government and western powers
alike.
The Ayatollah destroyed the good relations with the west but he also made himself unpopular
with various other Arab states. Anwar Sadat who believed that the west was the way to move on
was opposed to the Ayatollah s view of a completely isolated Islamic republic. Sadat even accepted
Mohammed Pahlavi as an exile but he was forced to leave because of his health. Khomeini s views
were popular to the people especially the poverty stricken rural community of Iran but not to other
leaders in the region.

Critical Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl
The Beat Generation is a literary movement during the 1950s that consisted of male authors
including the widely known Allen Ginsberg, who explored American culture in their poems. The
Beat Generation could be described as misogynistic and patriarchal due to their exclusion of women
and concerns confined to only male outcasts. In Allen Ginsbergs 1956 Howl, he brings his audience s
attention to male outcasts in society. In her 2015 Howl , a critical response to Ginsberg s Howl ,
Amy Newman explores the oppression outcasted women endure in a male dominated culture through
the allusions of an admired female poet, Ginsberg s original stanza form, and utilizing diction to
convey a woman s perspective antithetically to Allen Ginsberg s original.
In Amy Newman s Howl , she alludes to Sylvia Plath, an American female poet, who is
acknowledged for her hardships as a outcasted female in the poetry world due to her oppressive
marriage. Newman illustrates Plath as, [a] star spangled lost in her housebound Eden curse with
orchards and a million gossipy daffodils, writing and nursing and not on the lists... (Newman). In
Allen Ginsberg s original Howl he adverts to male poets he admires of his time, opposingly
Newman emulates Ginsberg s technique and alludes to a feminist iconic poet Sylvia Plath.
Newman implements a biblical allusion referencing The Garden of Eden to depict Plath as a
successful female poet who was metaphorically locked in her household; where a woman s place
Security Breach Of Banking Industry And Retail Business
Security Breach in Banking Industry and Retail Business
Financial technologies play a significant role in modern banking system. Most of us are familiar
with internet banking and mobile banking. These technologies allow us to access our accounts,
transfer funds, pay for our purchases, and even apply for a loan without leaving a house or an office.
In addition, most of us prefer to pay for our purchases with a quick swipe of a credit or a debit card.
No doubt, it is more convenient than caring and counting cash every time we go to a store. But,
unfortunately all these technologies come at a cost. Time to time, we hear news about another

The Roles Of Women Of Andalusia
The Roles of Extraordinary Women of Andalusia Muslim women have the same rights as men and
they have to fulfill and attain the same duties of worship such as prayer, zikr, give money to the
poor, fasting, and make pilgrimage to Mecca the holy place. In the pre Islamic era, the Jahiliya era,
women were not allowed to do anything, they had no rights. Women from the Bedioun tribes had no
legal status whatsoever. The fathers forced their daughters to get married for money and also, many
fathers infanticide their daughters because they were seeing as nothing important in the society. The
tribes were all male controlled. The heritage was passed on to the following generations through
male lines. Women had no legal right in inheriting property. The head of the tribes limited the rights
of women and took away their freedom. Prior to Islam, women were seen as property to be seized in
tribal or ethnic battles and conflicts. Women had no possessions or succession rights. Their very
essential role was to produce children, especially male offspring. Women had to cook, milk
animals, and wash clothes; they also had to spun wool and wave fabric for the tribal tens. However,
when Islam was found, it gave full rights and freedom to women.
Islam developed the position of women from the Arab cultures. The Sharia Law drew attention to
the proper way of marriage for women. Islam forbids the dowry of a female to be given to her
family rather than to the female who is getting married. Islam
Anabolic Steroids Should Be Banned Research Paper
There are many substances that are banned in the world of athletics. Almost no matter what

bann the same substances. There list include, but are not limited too stimulants, anabolic agents, beta
blockers, diuretics and other masking agents, growth factors, street drugs, and anything chemically

With athletes these aren t really viewed as performance enhancers but are illegal, so are still
placed on the banned substance list. The common effects of almost any street drug is it gives a
feeling of euphoria, and also makes that person feel invincible, which are the side effects that
make people like them. They also cause nausea and vomiting, the failure to recognize injury, and
eventually your body develops a dependence on them. One of the specific street drugs I m gonna
mention is marijuana. While it s not viewed as a hard drug it still has side effects that people can
either view as fun or dangerous. These side effects impair short term memory, increased heart rate,
difficulty concentrating, and slowed reflexes. It also causes mood swings and impairs
comprehensive thinking ( Effects of Performance Enhancers 2014). These side effects happen very
quickly due to how marijuana is usually introduced to a person system. The reason it acts so quickly
is explained on the National Institute on Drug Abuse website, When a person smokes marijuana,
THC quickly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream. The blood carries the chemical to the brain
and other organs throughout the body ( Drug Facts Marijuana
Civil And Civil Rights Similarities
Blake 4
Brittney Blake Sherry Sharifian Govt 2305 71432 29 September 2017
As outline by the Webster dictionary civil liberty is the fundamental individual right protected by
law and expressed as immunity from unwarranted governmental interference. Civil rights on the
other hand per Webster is the right or rights belonging to a person by reason of citizenship especially
including the fundamental freedoms and privileges guaranteed by the thirteenth and fourteenth
amendment and subsequent acts of Congress including the right to legal, social, and economic
equality. 1 Similar in meaning both civil rights and civil liberties are slightly different as well. I
will first explain the similarities and differences between the two. After explaining this I will give
examples of two court cases that represent both a civil right and civil liberty situation.
To start, civil rights and civil liberties are both basic rights that you have being a United States
citizen. Both protect you legally by law from unequal treatment.
In contrast, they are both different because civil rights are characteristics that allow you to be free of
unequal treatment. These rights include sexual orientation, gender, race, religious preference, and
disabilities. 2 However, civil liberties are rights that are guaranteed by law either in the Bill of
Rights or the Constitution. Civil liberties include the right to vote, bear arms, marry, privacy, speech,
remain silent in an interrogation, the right to a fair trial,
The Heave-Ho Method Of Building Pyramids
Evidence from ancient Egypt shows that these guys knew a thing or two about building pyramids.
They show how built several pyramids under different pharaohs and techniques but today they re
still standing. While many have said the pyramids have been the work of aliens, many egyptologists
disagree. From years of research, a solid explanation has crom from Davidovits and Morris, who
believe that the ancient Egyptianscast their pyramidblock and did not quarry them.
For years, the heave ho method of building the pyramids has been the most logical. This involved
ramps being used to move the pyramid blocks and other materials to the right level. While
remains of ramps have been found, they were small and most likely used for climbing opposed to
raising stone blocks. in addition, to sustain the 1400 block per day on the Great Pyramid, they
would have needed 52,000 workers with 140 workers on each stone making four trips per day on
a ramp, which seems highly unlikely. Aside from all of this, there are also no murals of Egyptian
workers using ramps on the Great Pyramid. There is one showing a statue being dragged, but it s
dated to 800 years after the Great Pyramid was built. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other building techniques at the time were quarrying and casting. Quarrying involved excavating
the stone blocks from the ground and dressing them using stone and copper tools. However,
copper tools were far too soft and therefore unsuitable to dress blocks on the scale needed for the
Great Pyramid. If we look at later building equipment there were wooden rollers but the earliest use
of them have been dated to 1600 BCE, almost a millennium after the Great Pyramid. Through
process of elimination, the only method left is to cast the pyramid blocks directly into
