Mozart Piano Concerto
What is making the sound? Mozart s Piano Concerto no. 21 in C Major has four instrument families
playing the second movement. The piano is the main instrument in this piece. The string family is
represented by violins, violas, cellos, and the bass. The other instruments used in this movement are
flute, bassoon, oboe, and French horn, which are part of the woodwinds and the brass families.
When these instruments play together they form a resonating sound that touches the emotions.
What is the melody like? The melody of this piece is played in the major key of C. Since it is
written in a major key it is pleasant to the ear. There are a few times when you can hear a minor
key. When the major and minor key are played together they form a beautiful pitch. The majority of
this piece is conjunct. The melody of this piece is uplifting and calming to me.
What is the rhythm like? This concerto is played in a regular rhythm. The rhythm of this piece has
regularly repeating rhythms that creates a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concerto has beautiful texture and the overall feel is polyphonic. Most of the time there are
several melodies sounding together. There were times during this movement that you could also hear
monophonic and homophonic. During small portions of the movement the piano and the some other
instrument are playing the same melody, but in different octaves; this would be monophonic. Other
times the piano is playing the melody and the others are playing the harmony; this would be
homophonic.
What is the tempo like? The tempo of the selected piece have moments that are slow and thoughtful
and others that are quite lively. As the music speeds up the tempo becomes Moderato, or Allegro
and as it slows down it becomes more largo or Andante. The composer wants a slowing or speeding
of the tempo to help keep the attention of the listener. This piece is rubato, because it is persistently
altering the speed of the tempo.

Impact Of Equal Rights On African Americans
Although it is a common thought nowadays that equal rights should be existent among all races, it
was not always this way especially towards the African American community. Because of prejudice
and racism in America, African Americans struggled throughout history to obtain equal rights even
though the Constitution promised rights for all men. Since African Americans first entered the
United Statesthey have been treated as less than equal than that of a white man. There were multiple
movements which helped change the way African Americans were seen in the United States and
helped establish the right for African Americans to vote. Early in the United States history African
Americans by law were listed as second class citizens.
Racial violence and extreme prejudice followed the Civil War towards the African American
community by white supremacist groups were wide spread and there were laws made African
Americans second class citizens were preventing them their promised rights guaranteed in the
Constitution. The compromise of 1877 (A.K.A. The Bargain of 1877) was a disagreement between
republicans and democrats where the republicans would not accept defeat in the election and
claimed that Democratic supporters of intimidating and bribing African American voters to prevent
them from voting in three southern states Florida, Louisiana and South Carolina. 1 Due to the
disagreement multiple clashes had broken out which left both republican supporters and democratic

Monte Cristo Fact Sheet

1. Alexander Dumas believed in social equality and individual rights and used that in some of his
books. The key figure in Count of Monte Cristo is Napoleon Bonaparte who became famous in the
French Revolution. He was loved by the people and set basic rules. Later, he was exiled to the island
of Elba and escaped and secretly sailed to France and defeated the royal troops. This is where
Edmond Dantes is at the beginning. His second reign is the Hundred Days where France fell back
into the hand of Louis XVIII and Napoleon was exiled and later died. His supporters were
considered as criminals and so was Napoleon and that is why Dantes was suspected. When
Napoleon died, he became a legend to all the people of France.

Araby Symbolism Essay
In Joyce s Araby , we see a variety of symbolism. The boy who serves as the main character of the
story introduces religious symbolism and imagery all throughout the story. The narrator who I
assume to boy, references many abstract and tangible things from a religious perspective. For this
writing assignment, I will identify four specific places in the text that is associated with religion,
explain why I have this chose to be in reference to religion and lastly I will explain what the
religious imagery reveals as far the boy s character. Early in the text, the boy discusses going to the
market with his aunt. While going to the market, he observes his surroundings and makes several
religious connections. He imagines himself carrying a chalice... Show more content on

Throughout the text, he seems to be confused and gets caught between his thoughts for the girl
versus his spiritual thoughts. Specifically for the chalice imagery, I found this to be associated
with the boy s obsession to the girl. The way the chalice is held is the way the boy wishes to hold
the girl. I think the religious imagery of the apple tree is associated with the boy s temptation and
loss of innocence for the girl. The boy has already given in spiritually to the girl by having lust for
her, therefore he feels though he has bitten the forbidden fruit and lost his knowledge; his initial
knowledge of knowing Christ. The boy is willing to risk his spiritual life all for the sake of the
girl. For the salver mentioned, I think the boy associated the salver to religion by the stark image
of mixing money in with this. Money and religion are never good together. The last religious
imagery is the description of his setting which associates his religious experience with his personal
life. He has an essential relationship with Christ and therefore spends a lot of his time in
Willy Loman Tragic Hero Analysis
Arthur Miller s play Death of A Salesman demonstrates the life of a man facing troubles within
himself and society. A tragedy is the imitation of an action that arouses fear and pity. This play
could be considered a tragedy because it depicts the downfall of a perfect family and outlines the
deterioration of a man s life. A tragic hero, as defined by Aristotle, is someone who exemplifies great
importance or heroic qualities; however, Arthur Miller views the tragic hero as someone who
struggles heroically with life. Using Arthur Miller s definition, it can be determined that Willy
Loman is a tragic hero. Even though Willy Loman does not fit the classical view of a tragic hero,
he is in fact a modern day tragic hero because of his error in judgment, a reversal of fortune, and his
excessive pride. The first characteristic defined by Aristotle describes someone who conveys an error
in judgment, or hamartia. Hamartia is the downfall of a tragic hero caused by a fatal flaw. According
to this description, Willy Loman fits the characteristic of hamartia because he had the inability to see
and define success.
WILLY: Don t say? Tell you a secret, boys. Don t breathe it to a soul. Someday I ll have my own
business, and I ll never have to leave home any more.
HAPPY: Like Uncle Charley, heh?
WILLY: Bigger than Uncle Charley! Because Charley is not liked. He s liked, but he s not well liked.
Willy believed true success came from personal qualities, leading to wealth and
The Gentle Lena Essay
Lena s gentle, sweet, servant like behavior was a commentary on the way on the way society saw
and treated women in the early 20th century. Lena did not have an opinion of her own, she did not
know how to make decisions on her own; she was told what to think, where to work, what to do
with her money, her free time and her future; her life was designed by someone else because she
was a women and unable to make decisions for herself. In the early 20th centurysociety treated
women as though they were not important, their duties were to have children, cook and clean for
their husbands and much like children of this timeperiod, women were to be were to be seen but
their voices not heard with regards to anything outside of the family. It... Show more content on

Upon arrival in America Lena was made to work as a servant, while her Aunt searched for a good
husband for her. There was not one moment where Lena questioned why: why did she have to
leave Germany and go to America, why did she have to work as a servant, why did she have to go
to her Aunt s house every Sunday, why couldn t she spend the money she worked hard to make,
why did she have to get married when she enjoyed working as a servant for the family, why did she
have to marry Herman Kreder when he obviously did not want to marry her. Lena was just expected,
as women in that timeperiod were, to just submit to the whims of the dominent member of her
family. Lena was so dutiful throughout the story, dutiful to the point where modern day readers may
actually get frustrated or angry with this character.
Lena lived her life passively and took what came her way without complaint; the cook who
scolded Lena a great deal but Lena s german patience held no suffering and the good incessant
woman really only scolded for Lena s good (Stein 143). Her cousins (Mrs. Hoydon s children) were
mean, rude and ridiculed her horribly, and yet she continued to go to their home every other Sunday
as required by Mrs. Hoydon ...but it never came to Lena s unexpectant and unsuffering german
nature to do something different from what was expected of her, just because she would like
Who Is Mr. Kurtz Dehumanize In Heart Of Darkness
The horror, the horror were the chilling words that preceded the death of Mr. Kurtz (Conrad 105).
With his last words, Mr. Kurtz came to realization of the darkness he had so long been a part of. He
and the other pilgrims like him embodied the paradox of a civilized savage. Their honest efforts to
humanize the natives they saw as wild beasts, quickly turned to a brutal and unjust treatment of
them. As time went on their hearts became hardened and their actions grew worse. They themselves
became less human then the people they had come to civilize. Their progressive downfall
demonstrated that outside of social constraints there is nothing to stop men from yielding to the
darkness of their hearts.
Throughout the entire novel Joseph Conrad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kurtz is the personification of the darkness that all men have inside of themselves. He was a
normal man with ambition and charisma until he realized that to succeed in the jungle he must
become like a god to the natives. They adored him and because of their adoration and the lack of
restrictions that were placed on him, he could do whatever he wanted to and nobody would stop
him (84). There was nothing on earth to prevent him killing whom he jolly well pleased and so that
is what he did. As time passed his seclusion from the civilized world grew, ...the wilderness...
whispered to him things that about himself which he did not know, things of which he had no
concept till he took counsel with this great solitude (87). It caused him to do things that the civilized
Kurtz would not dream of doing. He became mad to the point of exhibiting the heads of native men
that he killed on stakes outside of his home. Those heads showed that Mr. Kurtz lacked restraint in
the gratification of his various lusts, that there was something wanting in him... that could not be
found under his magnificent eloquence (87). Kurtz embodied what was at the heart of imperialism.
Through his character, Conrad demonstrated that the result of progress outside of social restraint is
madness and ultimately reveals a heart of utter
A Sexual Reproduction
ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION

Asexual reproduction is a mode of reproduction by which offspring arise from a single parent, and
inherit the genes of that parent only; it is reproduction which does not involve meiosis, ploidy
reduction, or fertilization. The offspring will be exact genetic copies of the parent. A more stringent
definition is agamogenesis which is reproduction without the fusion of gametes. Asexual
reproduction is the primary form of reproduction for single celled organisms such as the
archaea, bacteria, and protists. Many plants and fungi reproduce asexually as well.
While all prokaryotes reproduce asexually (without the formation and fusion of gametes),
mechanisms for lateral gene transfer such as conjugation, transformation and ... Show more content

Plants that reproduce vegetatively may form a clonal colony, where all the individuals are clones,
and the clones may cover a large area.

SPORE FORMATION

Many multicellular organisms form spores during their biological life cycle in a process called
sporogenesis. Exceptions are animals and some protists, who undergo gametic meiosisimmediately
followed by fertilization. Plants and many algae on the other hand undergo sporic meiosis where
meiosis leads to the formation of haploid spores rather than gametes.

FRAGMENTATION

Fragmentation is a form of asexual reproduction where a new organism grows from a fragment of
the parent. Each fragment develops into a mature, fully grown individual. Fragmentation is seen in
many organisms such as animals (some annelid worms, turbellarians and sea stars), fungi, and plants.
Some plants have specialized structures for reproduction via fragmentation, such asgemmae in
liverworts.

AGAMOGENESIS

Agamogenesis is any form of reproduction that does not involve a male gamete. Examples are
parthenogenesis and apomixis. Parthenogenesis is a form of agamogenesis in which an unfertilized
egg develops into a new individual. Parthenogenesis occurs naturally in many plants, invertebrates
(e.g. water fleas, rotifers, aphids, stick insects, some ants, bees and parasitic wasps), and vertebrates
(e.g. some reptiles, amphibians, fish, very rarely birds).

REGENERATION

In biology, regeneration is the process of renewal,

E Coli And Its Effects On The Environment
Introduction When we think of bacteria we don t think of them as being a good thing especially
when we think of Salmonella or Ecoli. It brings a sick feeling to your stomach or a cringe. But
these microbes are being used for the greater good. Scientist are putting them to work. They are
being genetically altered or medically laced to fight disease or to absorb lethal substances in the
environment that contaminates our soil, water, and vegetation. If you can teach them or expose
them to the appropriate environment they can be beneficial. Some might call this playing God while
others may see it as a useful tool to put something there is an abundance of or is naturally occurring
in a place where there is contamination and create a healthy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Geobacter sulfurreducens
Geobacter Sulfurreducens is an obligate anaerobe, non fermentative, non motile comma shaped rod,
gram negative bacteria commonly found in soil (Runge 2003). Mining for Uranium became a
necessity during the Cold War but eventually we came to our senses The old Rifle Mill in
Western Colorado was where The United States obtained its resources for uranium to help build
nuclear bombs. Now that we have stopped trying to blow eachother up, the lasting effects still
linger. Some microbes such as Geobacter sulfurreducens change uranium from its harmful form
that can be dissolved in water to a form that will not dissolve. This allows it to settle out and be
removed. Vinegar added to the soil containing the microbe helps it grow. The United States paid for
research completed by The Department of Energy that tested this microbe. The research was
conducted on wells, that were contaminated with Uranium, in the Old Rifle Uranium Mills. The
tests were a success and the uranium levels were initially lowered by over 70%. Later tests showed
the uranium levels were lowered by 90%. Besides lowering uranium levels, scientist isolated a
specific gene of the Geobacter sulfurreducens that might help in creating a supermicrobe that may be
used to clean up uranium sights around the world.

In 2000, the United Nations introduced the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as part of the
United Nations Millennium Declaration. The MDGs were established to attempt to improve overall
well being for as many people as possible, and targets issues such as poverty, starvation, and disease.
This paper will focus on the development goal of achieving universal primary education, specifically
focusing on the country of Ethiopia. Achieving universal primary education is important because it
acts as a building block towards the development of counties as a whole. Primary education is not
only a necessity, but a right to all individuals regardless of gender or class. Over the course of the
last decade, Ethiopia has experienced vast improvements... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to a variety of reasons, the biggest due to the socioeconomic state of Ethiopia. According
to a local Ethiopian advisor, the biggest reason most children discontinue school is that their parents
simply cannot afford to pay for their school supplies and transportation. In Ethiopia, children are
seen as a resource by their parents, and often times the financial state of the family requires that
the child helps work on their farm or provide money for the family by other means (ROOTS
Ethiopia). Because the financial stability of the average Ethiopian family is so fragile, a variety
of events such as a drought or death of a family member can necessitate a child dropping out of
school and working to make up for losses. Ethiopian children commonly drop out of school
because of the lack of quality within the school system. Many of the schools in Ethiopia are
lacking in resources. There is an insufficient number of qualified teachers, a lack of learning
materials such as books and blackboards, and in extreme cases, some schools do not have enough
chairs or desks for every student to have a seat. The USAID performed a study on a small sample
of Ethiopian schools. Out of their 46 classroom observations, all teachers and students were present
only 24% of the time, some teachers and students were present 57% of the time, and no teachers
were present 20% of the time (DeStefano and Elaheebocus). Due to a
Weather In Moulin Rouge
How does Baz Luhrmann use the weather to portray distress in the protagonists lives in the films
Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge with the help of camera angles?

The manipulation of the weather is a concept that features in both Romeo and Juliet and Moulin
Rouge. In both of these films, it is used to show distress and the death of one or both of the
protagonists. This concept of distress and/or death will be explored. For the film Romeo and Juliet,
sequence will be used where Romeo kills Tybalt and sequence will be used, where Romeo is
banished because of him murdering Tybalt. For Moulin Rouge, I will be exploring sequence , where
Christian is thrown out of the Moulin Rouge on to the street, as well as the closing sequence, ... Show

This is similar to sequence of Romeo and Juliet where Romeo is banished from the town that he
once lived in. In both films there is rain in both of these sequences, showing that Romeo and
Christian are now at their lowest points in their lives, being rejected from places they love and
the people who they have grown fond of, and fallen in love with. In Moulin Rouge Christian is full
of sadness and anger from being thrown out on the streets. The camera angle of Christian in this
sequence is different from that of Romeo in sequence of Romeo and Juliet. We see Christian in an
eye level shot as he lies on the floor in the rain possibly showing, cinematically that he has hit rock
bottom in his life.

In the closing scene of Moulin Rouge we find Satine slowly dying in Christians arms. The camera
angle that Baz Luhrmann decides to use is a birds eye view shot (or in other words an extreme high
angle shot) which shows just how powerless Christian is in this situation. This shows that Christian
s emotions are just of complete and utter surprise and of course sadness. At the end of this scene we
see that it is in fact snowing, showing and emphasising Satine s words to Christian that she is
Elements Of A True War Story
A true war story is rather difficult, if not impossible, to share when it goes beyond one s
imagination. Regarding such a story, one morally sound aspect about it is that it lacks morality or
meaning to it. Extracting facts from a true war story is a daunting task because what seems to
happen is what actually occurs. In what is to follow, I will tell one awful true warstory. The story
begins on Tha Ke Island during a war hiatus. To Bunk and Trench, this is a desperately needed
time to get away from the war. American soldiers stayed at the base camp to play board games.
Bunk and Trench goofed around, but they were just kids. They didn t know about the dangers of the
war. The silly game they played involved pretending to be soldiers. Bunk would
