The Crucible Film Analysis
The 1996 film of The Crucible is a historical drama inspired by the Salem witchcraft trials. The
film has won a multitude of cinematic achievements and continuously blows audience members
away with the accuracy of the historical events and portrayal of the characters by the actors and
actresses. The profound work of Arthur Miller is also expressed within the written play of The
Crucible. However, the film did the best job of portraying characters that were both historically
accurate and believable to an audience member. One main character from The Crucible that is
both historically accurate and extremely believable in the film is Abigail Williams. Winona Ryder,
the actress of Abigail Williams, did an impeccable job portraying her character and became widely
known for her work through several achievements and film reviews. The recognition that she and
the rest of the cast received due to the characterization in this cinematic production is what made the
film do the best job of portraying characters as historically accurate and believable to an audience
member instead of the written play. Although the written play describes the actions and thoughts of
the characters very precisely, the film did the best job of portraying characters as historically
accurate and believable to an audience member through the achievements and film reviews
received from actors and actresses such as Winona Ryder, the recognition the cast as a whole earned,
and the actions and emotions the actors and
The Emperor Of All Maladies Essay
The Emperor of All Maladies (A biography of cancer), written by Siddhartha Mukherjee
Introduction
The Emperor of All Maladies captured the whole essence of cancer. This book gave a very good
narrative of the historical record of cancer, the scientists and important public figures who
contributed to the fight against a disease that has so much caused despair, pain, disfiguring of the
body and worst of all, death. Cancer is seen as the abnormal growth of cells. A normal cell becomes
cancerous when there is a defect in the regulation of its growth. Cancerous cells also tend to be
elusive and resistant to treatments. Numerous attempts have been channeled into demystifying the
nature of cancer. Some of these attempts proved abortive while a few served as a harbinger of hope.
Cancer have proved to be part of our genetic makeup, hence, total eradication of it remains a future
accomplishment.
The aim of this review is to give an account of the second leading cause of death in the United States
of America. The review described the origin of cancer, its nature, prevention strategies and treatment.
It also evaluated the concept used by the author.
Summary
The word cancer first appeared in medical literature in 400BC during the time of Hippocrates as
karkinos . Cancer was compared to a crab, which was denoted by its hardened back, its painful
sting and its mobility. Another Greek word described cancer as onkos which represented the load
born by cancer patients which is
Socrates Trial In The Apology By Plato
The Apology by Plato is a firsthand account of how Plato remembers Socrates trial and the speech
he gave while he was trying to prove his innocence. In the first part contains Socrates introductory
statement in which he states his manner of speaking. He will speak only the truth and he asks the
judges to pay attention to his words. Socratesbegins his defense by explaining his philosophical
way of life. He goes on to discuss the accusations made against him and how he had old accusers
and new accusers. The old charges against him were that because he exposed ignoration, he was a
Sophist which is someone who was good at winning arguments through verbal quibbling (Westacott,
2016). The new charges he is accused of are two criminal offenses by Meletus, Anytus, and Lycon.
He was accused of having atheistic views and not recognizing the gods, and of corrupting the young
people of Athens. Socrates argued that if he corrupted the young, he did so unknowingly since he
believed that one never deliberately acts wrongly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His actions of questioning people were prompted by the prophecy of the Oracle of Delphi
declared that Socrates to be the wisest man. Socrates was baffled by this because the Oracle
couldn t be lying but he felt that he was ignorant and had no wisdom. To try to figure out what the
Oracle meant, Socrates began approaching people who were believed to be wise to find out what
makes them wise. He approached politicians, poets, and artist and after speaking with all of them he
determined that they all had false wisdom and in fact were ignorant. Many things they thought they
knew, they in fact didn t know. Socrates felt that a wise man should understand that he doesn t know
everything. This caused many people to dislike Socrates. The young people of Athens admired this
about him but also earned him much hatred from those people that he

Grief, Loss, and Everything Josh Kos would Floss (this is not the actual title)
Grief and loss are some of the most defining characteristics of the human experience. Therefore,
dealing with grief and loss is one of the most important things humans must learn. While there are
many approaches, Jennifer Kent uses her film The Babadook to suggest that suppression is not a
healthy way to deal with grief. By thoughtfully planning the mise en scene, soundtrack, and narrative
storytelling, Kent teaches viewers that suppression causes the inner monster to come out in all of us,
just as it did to Amelia in The Babadook.
In The Babadook, suppression of grief is at the root of all of Amelia s personal problems.
Suppressing her grief resulted in her becoming isolated from everyone around her, from her co
worker Robby, her sister Claire, to even her son Sam. Because she was so wrapped up in
suppressing memories of her husband, Amelia lost touch with the living world, and is left in an
awkward limbo between her past and her present. Once the Babadook is unleashed, suppression of
grief leads to paranoia for Amelia. As she continues to have visions, Amelia is trapped in a different
limbo between reality and inside her mind, and as she continues to suppress her grief, her situation
becomes progressively worse.
Amelia s house and the tree across the street from Amelia s house are important motifs throughout
The Babadook. However, while trees and
Media Reflective Essay
One of my clients (let s call her Alicia) has always delayed her responses to media inquires or
requests. In my line of work, we deal with monthly, weekly and even daily deadlines, so this type of
behaviour has clearly costed us many opportunities in getting exposures in the media.I used any
possible means to reach my clients, being extra proactive while making sure she responds before the
deadline. I suggested my superior to mention it to regional office as this situation affects our business
as their public relationsconsultant. If we don t get enough media exposures as targetted, we may
lose them as a client. Alicia has started to respond the inquries and requests almost promptly. The
use of casual communication mean such as Whatsapp for a friendlier reminder has been more
effective in getting her to work as fast as our pace.
During the month of Ramadan, one of our clients held a social activity by providing dinner box to
taxi drivers around the city to break their fasting. I have briefed our photographer to get the exact
poses we needed to produce photos for the press release. Turned out the event wasn t prepared
accordingly by the management staff and I trusted the photographer too much that I didn t supervise
directly, and resulted the photos were not press release quality. In the meantime, we needed to
distribute the press release as soon as possible as it was nearing the end of the holy month and
everyone has started to be busy with the holiday as well. Re took

Pacifism In The Vietnam War
When you think of anti war movements and pacifism during the Vietnam War, you typically think of
peace, love, and hippies. However, there was so much more to the movement, and it impacted an
abundance of lives. Even though there were people who opposed the war, there were a few that
supported the government, and the reasoning for the United Statesinvolvement in this conflict.
However, many people viewed the Vietnam War in negative ways, which lead them to execute acts
that made a huge statement to the rest of the country, and both the US and Vietnamese governments.
Despite unity in opposition to the Vietnam War, Pacifists and anti wargroups were unalike in their
reasons for opposing the war, the draft, and how they expressed their opposition... Show more

This idea was more common in the church, but it was also a very mainstream idea. Pacifism, for
many people, is a very sacred idea, and this thought of going to war, for what seemed like no
reason, was very obscure for them. When pacifism first started to rise, however, it was confined
to just church members, because they did not want to identify with the hippies, who did not
necessarily care if they had to use violence to get their point across. Michael Casey said in his
article about pacifism in the church: From religious outsiders to insiders: The rise and fall of
pacifism in the Churches of Christ, As most in the Churches of Christ assimilated into the American
mainstream, pacifism simply faded away (Casey). After a while hippies became a rising trend, and
the church was being pushed into this mainstream role that they did not completely agree with. So
as a result, the church stopped publicizing their views. In the mainstream journals of the Churches
of Christ during the Vietnam War, discussions over pacifism almost completely disappeared. Few
preachers bothered to speak about the question, (Casey). However, they never stopped their push
for peace. The push for peace and an end to the Vietnam War lead to massive amounts of division
between Americans. For many soldiers it was hard to come home because they felt hated by those
who supported the anti war movement. Since the older generation had already experienced war, it

Sylvie Chevrier
The book structure
This book has been released for the first time in 2003. Le management interculturel features 127
pages containing an introduction (from page 3 to 7), four main chapters (from page 9 to 120), a
conclusion (pages 121 and 122), a bibliography (from page 123 to 126) and finally a table of
contents at the end of the book (page 127). The book is written in French and can be found in the
collection «Que sais je?» at the Presses Universitaires de France editions (known also as Puf).

The reader will also find thoughts, which tell that this kind of management is not an accurate
science and researches are still in progress to improve the intercultural managerial strategies
(«However, knowledge gathered together so far are often rough and the experiences achieved still
too rare to see the practices reach maturity.» p. 121).
This could either disappoint the reader who expected a straight answer at the end of the book or
invite the reader to follow this topic closely in case of any progress in the existing theories or the
creation of a brand new one.
* Bibliography
The reader throughout the book, as we will see later in the page layout chapter, has referred to
numerous footnotes essentially sending the reader to the pages containing the bibliography.
This bibliography shows how well did Sylvie Chevrier document her thesis, as the number of
books read or used for her researches is important. This allows also the reader to walk in the author
s footsteps if only he or she wants to dig this topic. Nearly seventy books are listed with all the
information needed to find and buy the book, which offers a large range of choice to the most
interested and curious readers about the intercultural management.
In order to sum up this first chapter, we have seen that Sylvie Chevrier has smartly structured her
book from the start to the end to let
Mr Bunkers Case Study
Mr Bunkers In the recorded discussion, Mr Ben Bunkers stated that the issues with the worker
stemmed from a personality clash between the worker and another employee, Liam, who the
worker alleges made a threat against him. Mr Bunkers denied hearing any threats made on that
day. Mr Bunkers referred to the worker feeling that he was the butt of practical jokes , such as
being locked outside and having his car vandalised. He stated that the worker had been happy to let
those incidents slide. Mr Bunkers stated that he had had spoken to the team about the worker while
the worker was not present in an effort to prevent further practical jokes on the worker. Despite this,
he stated that the worker would include himself and he had told the worker that he could not have it

Essay on The Need to Treat Obsesity in the United States
The prevalence of obesity related comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes and heart diseases in the US
emphasizes the need for concerted efforts to prevent and treat obesity1 3. A decrease in 5% of
body weight significantly reduces cardiovascular risk in humans4 which proves the urgency of
weight management. A combination of drug and lifestyle intervention is ideal for obesity
management5 8. Unfortunately, the current anti obesity medications that inhibit food intake or
absorption are partly effective9,10. Thus, an alternate approach is to target energy metabolism11 19
due to the fact that obesity results when energy storage in the adipose tissueexceeds its
expenditure20. However, due to the complexity of adipose tissue21, the fundamental... Show more

Accordingly, AMPK, PGC1 and their thermogenic target, the uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) are
dramatically upregulated in K1 KO adipose tissues. Moreover, IP6K1 generated IP7 inhibits AMPK
activity in vitro. Based on these preliminary results, our working hypothesis is that IP6K1 regulates
energy metabolism by inhibiting the AMPK PGC1 pathway. To test this, we will measure core
body temperature; oxidation and browning in adipose depots of K1 KO mice fed a high fat diet or
exposed to cold stress. We will measure oxidation and mitochondrial respiration in K1 KO
adipocytes and in inducible IP6K1 knock down adipocyte cell lines. Utilizing enzyme assays and
hydrogen deuterium exchange (HDX) studies, we will determine the molecular mechanism by
which IP6K1/IP7 inhibits AMPK. Furthermore, we will monitor the AMPK stimulator; 5
Aminoimidazole 4 carboxamide ribonucleotide (AICAR) mediated oxidation and insulin
sensitivity in K1 KO mice. Successful completion of this aim will establish IP6K1 as a novel
regulator of energy expenditure.
Aim 2: Identify functions of IP6K1 in lipolysis. K1 KO mice exhibit enhanced fasting induced
weight loss. They also display enhanced basal lipolysis and downregulation of the lipolytic
modulator perilipin1 (PLIN1) in the adipose tissues. IP6K1 possesses a lipase motif by which it
binds and stabilizes PLIN1. PKA (Protein kinase A) phosphorylates IP6K1 especially during
adrenergic receptor ( AR)
