Jack Doesn t Want For Start An Outbreak
Another Place, Another Time

Jack didn t want to start an outbreak. What eleven year old did? He didn t even want to find The
Kingdom. All he wanted was to get away from his babysitter, Susanne. Now his whole town was
infected with the Sickness, and it was all his fault.

He sat in his room, his back against the locked door, staring at his hands. The hands were the first
sign of Sickness. A slimy, black ooze would drip off your fingers, seemingly coming from nowhere.
He d seen it on his mom, and on Susanne, and on the whole town. Now he saw it on himself. It
spread up your arms and throughout your body, turning your skin the color of midnight. You were
still yourself then, though. You were still you, until the Sickness reached your brain.

Jack watched the black droplets splashing onto the ground and melting into the floor boards. He
knew he had to do something about the Sickness that had rapidly taken his whole town. He swung
his backpack over his back and put a cap on over his fair haired head. Then he climbed out the
window (thankfully, his room was on the first floor) and started running towards the only place he
could think to go: The woods.

He recalled three weeks ago, when he had done the same. Jack had come to the woods many
times as a child. He loved the fresh air and cool breeze that came with entering it. It reminded him
of his father, who had gotten very sick and died a year and three weeks before. On that day he had
come here to be alone, and that s when
The Devil Wears Prada Analysis
Have you ever been intimidated by someone merely by their presence? What is making their
presence intimidating, even if they haven t said anything? This situation would be primarily due to
their body language, eye contact, and/or confidence to name a few; it is a known fact that 95% of
communication revolves around nonverbal cues such as these. This large percentage of nonverbal
cues can be seen in the movie The Devil Wears Prada.
An average but intelligent woman named Andy Sachs lands a job at a popular fashion magazine as
Meryl Streep s aka Miranda Priestly s aka the devil s assistant. She has to deal with the devils
difficult demands and trying to fit into this new world she had mocked before; as she proves, and
seemingly loses, herself she must decide what she really wants and how to deal with Miranda.
This movie contains many examples of nonverbal language, making it hard to narrow down. In the
end I chose the three things I thought had the most prevalence in the movie: Influencing others/body
movement, the ambiguous nature of nonverbal, and managing impressions
Influencing Others/Physical Attractiveness How we look, act, and sound to others
After a while of working there, Andy starts wearing more fashionable clothes and changes her hair
/makeup. Along with this, as she gets more accustomed and comfortable with her job she gets more
confidence in her body movements. One particular scene about 30 minutes into the movie, Andy
walks into the office very confidently and
Themes Of Social Mobility Through Marriage
This paper critically analyses the theme of social mobility through marriage in Shakespeare s play
Twelfth Night . In addition, the paper highlights how different characters in the play got into
higher social classes or desired to be in higher social classes through marriage. This paper holds
that in a highly stratified society such as that presented in the Shakespeare s play; marriage plays a
significant role in in social classmobility. As opposed to some traditional society where marriage
was only permitted along an individual s class, Shakespeare presents a literally liberal society with
marriage and other relationships permitted along all the classes within the society. In fact, marriage
is more of a person choice, contrary to the perception in the tradition society.
How Marriage leads to Social Mobility in the Play Twelfth Night
According to Chris, Shakespeare s play Twelfth Night touches on sensitive concepts within the
society (1). Similar to the majority of his literary works, Twelfth Night captures the concept of love
and how individuals use love through marriage to achieve power or a higher social status.
Throughout the play, there is an apparent struggle for social status by the key characters. Lindheim
asserts that there are some characters in the play, such as Antonio who would do everything within
their means in order to achieve their sexual desires (2). For example, in a more traditional society or
contemporary setting, Antonio could never hope of
Positive Influence On Football
Positive and Negative Influences that Media has on Sport in the UK (Football)
Television
Positive There are several reasons why football has a positive effect around the world. Reason
one, football is broadcasted all over the world on television. Football is one of the main sports in
the world; furthermore football is watched by billions of people around the world e.g. England,
China, and Brazil etc. Another positive aspect that most football leagues are broadcasted on
television e.g. Premiership (English League), Seria A (Italian League) and Liga (Spanish
League). Youth club matches e.g. Under 18s and Under 21s can be viewed either on Sky Sports
or even BT Sports. BT sports airs matches from Seria A, Ligue 1 and the Premiership, Sky Sports
broadcasts matches from the Premiership, Liga and MLS. The reason why Sky Sports and BT
Sports air theses football matches as a result they will increase their revenues. Furthermore they will
receive more and money from loads of sponsorships that the television company are associated with.
Negative One of the negatives of television is that many football games or major football
tournaments like the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League or Europa League are either broadcasted
on Sky Sports or BT Sports. Football supports who buy the sky sports bundle to watch their team
play pay £47.50 a month for only the on their Sky Sports package. However not all football matches
are shown on Sky sports, e.g. Champions League matches are shown on BT
The Evolution Of The Pc And Microsoft Essay
The Evolution of the PC and Microsoft

Xerox, Apple, IBM, and Compaq all played major roles in the development of the Personal
Computer, or ³PC,² and the success of Microsoft. Though it may seem so, the computer industry did
not just pop up overnight. It took many years of dedication, hard work, and most importantly,
thievery to turn the personal computer from a machine the size of a Buick, used only by zit faced ³
nerds,² to the very machine I am typing this report on.

Xerox started everything off by creating the first personal computer, the ALTO, in 1973. However,
Xerox did not release the computer because they did not think that was the direction the industry was

So they developed a process called ³open architecture.² Open architecture meant buying all the
components separately, piecing them together, and then slapping the IBM name on it. It was quite
effective. Now all IBM needed was software. Enter Bill Gates.

Gates, along with buddy Paul Allen, had started a software company called Microsoft. Gates was
one of two major contenders for IBM. The other was a man named Gary Kildall. IBM came to
Kildall first, but he turned them away
(He has yet to stop kicking himself) and so they turned to Big Bad Bill Gates and Microsoft.

Microsoft would continue supplying IBM with software until IBM insisted
Microsoft develop Q/DOS, which was compatible only with IBM equipment.
Microsoft was also engineering Windows, their own separate software, but IBM wanted Q/DOS.

By this time, PC clones were popping up all over. The most effective clone was the Compaq.
Compaq introduced the first BIOS (Basic Input Output
System) chip. The spearheaded a clone market that not only used DOS, but later
Windows as well, beginning the incredible success of Microsoft.

With all of these clones, Apple was in dire need of something new and spectacular. So when Steve
Jobs got invited to Xerox to check out some new
Sub-Saharan Africa Case Study
The AIDS epidemic is one of the greatest challenges facing our generation. AIDS/HIV is an
extraordinary threat to human development requiring sustainability and commitment over the long
term. In recent years, public awareness towards the issues of HIV/AIDS, gender, and food security
in sub Saharan Africahas increased dramatically. The case study in Sub Saharan Africa examines the
spread of the epidemic ad its impact on food insecurity through gender lens. The Global AIDS
epidemic report stated that one of the biggest challenges of the coming year is the female face of the
epidemic (UNAIDS, 2004). In 2011, Sub Saharan Africa was home to 69% of all people living with
HIV/ AIDS worldwide (UNAIDS, 2012). Moreover, Peter Piot, the executive
Participation Trophies
Participation trophies can vary from sports to clubs to activities of any type. Many people believe
these standard awards provide many benefits for children and their childhood growth. However,
children today have become accustomed to receiving an item or prize regardless the outcome of their
effort, which could potentially send an unhealthy message about achievement and diminish the value
of the award. While many writers claim that participation trophies are beneficial, writer Ashley
Merryman agrees with the idea that participation trophies are more destructive than beneficial
regarding the learning process of a child. The general argument made by Merryman in her work,
Forget Trophies, Let Kids Know It s O.K. to Lose, is that providing... Show more content on

The general argument made by Berdan in her work, Participation Trophies Send A Dangerous
Message, is that participation awards commemorate individuals for everyone being a winner.
More specifically, Berdan argues that distributing participation trophies to all participants
diminishes the meaning of the first, second, or third place trophy. She writes, When awards are
handed out like candy to every child who participates, they diminish in value. In this passage,
Berdan is suggesting that rewarding children constantly with a trophy decreases the value of the
trophy that the actual winners earned. Personally, I agree with Berdan because I agree with the
concept that providing children with constant rewards sends a dangerous message later in life. On
the other hand, writer Eric Priceman defends his opinion that these continuous awards are a
necessary part of the education process for young children and will benefit them to strive for
better. More specifically, Priceman argues that there is a difference between an award and a
reward; he states that an award is given for achievement while a reward is given for
accomplishment. He writes, Just syntax maybe, but anyone that has ever achieved at the highest
level has had to endure multiple levels of accomplishment first. In this passage, Priceman is
suggesting that people who have reached the highest levels of trophies and medals have also been
encouraged along the way with things such as participation awards. He describes the action of
distributing participation awards similarly to encouraging phrases that motivate an individual to
strive for greatness. Despite his argument, I believe Priceman is wrong because rewarding children
with a meaningless trophy or certificate provides no benefit for them in their future. More

Essay on An Experience in My Lfe
An Experience in My Life December 31, 2004, while everyone else was celebrating New Year s, my
family and I were moving from one city to another. It was hard for me to move another city
because I was leaving behind the town where I was born and all my friends. This was one of the
biggest impacts that I have experience in my life. Moving from one townto another was like moving
to another world where I did not know anyone. But the hardest part of moving for me was moving
to another school where I did not know anyone and I did not know what to expect. Moving from a
place I grew up and lived my whole life was really difficult to adapt to the new place. The sun shined
on my face and I opened my eyes. It was my first time waking up in... Show more content on

The first class ended and I had to go to the next classes I didn t know where they were so I asked
my way around all day. During lunch time I didn t know where to go so I sat by myself thinking
what my friends in my old school where doing. Finally at 2:30 School ended and the first day in a
new school ended. I got home and there was nothing to do, I was used to getting home and play
soccer with my neighbors but I didn t know anyone no more. I wish it was all just a dream and
that I would wake up back to my old friends and home. The reality was that it was never going to
happen. The days passed and I stared to get to know people in school. I joined the school soccer
team and that s where I made my friends. After I made new friends they started inviting me to
places and showing me around the town. Can you show specific examples of how things changed
for you? They introduced me to their friends and I felt more comfortable in the new town. I met
new people and I stated to feel like at home. As the time past the feeling of not being at home
started to fade away. I started to get familiar with all the stores, streets, and restaurants. I started to
give the town a chance and the result were positive. The getting familiar with the town was not the
only difficulty for me. What took me more time to get used to was the weather. The new town had
warmer weather than my hometown. I was used to cold weather and for me the
I ve Lost My Faith in Organized Religion Essay
I ve Lost My Faith in Organized Religion

When I was four years old, I used to stand on top of the pews and sing my heart out. I had what my
mother still refers to as a heart for Jesus, and I loved to sing. I sang so loudly and with so much
enthusiasm that I was an embarrassment to my incredibly introverted parents and a blessing to the
adults around me.

I loved church. From belting Father Abraham to watching Gospel Bill videos to coloring pictures of
David and Goliath, it was endless fun. The Sunday School teachers seemed immortal, and I loved
talking to them, and I wanted to be just like them when I grew up. I learned to obey my parents and
love my neighbor and speak in tongues. And of course I learned to love Jesus.

The clever church does not stop at using guilt to obtain funding. It further seeks to control its
members and every aspect of their lives. The church wants carbon copies of sin free, squeaky
clean, productive citizens. Mormans are expected to spend two years of their lives volunteering
as missionaries ( Oxtoby 319 ). The Catholic religion uses guilt to get its members to abstain from
the use of birth control ( Oxtoby 329 ). The Catholic Church also tries to increase church attendance
by making it a mortal sin to not attend church. Many Christian religions try to get their young
people to remain innocent and pure by teaching them that sex is a dirty and sinful act outside of
marriage. Baptists are taught to feel guilty about dancing, and Jews are forbidden from even
touching ham or pork ( Oxtoby 75 ). Whether the church needs money, mass numbers of people, or
specific behaviors from its followers, it can always be sure to achieve the desired results with a little
bit of good old fashioned guilt.

One of the things that bothers me the most about religion is that it is extremely judgmental.
Although they throw around phrases like, hate the sin, not the sinner, the actions of religious
people speak louder than their words. I was told since I was born that anyone who did not accept
Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior would go to hell. The Church
The Effects Of Folk Music On American History
Odetta After reading the articles about folk music as well as articles about the famous folk singer,
Odetta Holmes, I have learned that, folk music is music with lyrics that contain social issues,
economic issues, hardships as well as relationship difficulties. Folk music is traditionally played
with no more than a acoustic guitar or banjo. I have also learned that folk musichas been around for
a very long time and is, perhaps, the very first genre of music that started all around the world.
Folk music is basically the roots of the particular society that it is being played and sang at. Folk
music has been around in many countries such as, Ireland, England, America, and many other
European Countries. Folk music significantly plays a huge part in U.S. history. Folk music is
significant to American history because, it discuses a vast amount of different problems and
historical events that have happened throughout U.S. history. An example of this is, singing about
wars was a popular topic, along with political issues, economic issues, labor issues, relationship
issues, as well as many others throughout the years of American history. These vast amount of
topics and hardships in these songs not only show how these people felt at the time, but can also
show an actual timeline of events that happened in U.S. history. I will be discussing one of these
famous and important folk singers, Odetta Holmes. I will be analyzing and discussing her life and
success in her

of struggle. In order to survive he needed to find a way to get more food and in the upcoming quote

stretch his food until Sol 1425 for the Ares 4 crew, My best bet for making calories is potatoes. They

Universal Design For Learning Within Educational Environments
Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening
of respect for human rights... promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all... (The
United Nations, 1948). As emphasised by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, education is
an inalienable right, and until it is proven that a student will not benefit from or is not stimulated by
being in school, it must be assumed that they are gaining some value from the experience.
Indoctrinated within Universal Designfor Learning (UDL) framework is the need for teachers to shift
from primarily hosting students with additional educational needs, to extensively engaging them in a
fruitful education. Under the principles of Universal Design for Learning, educators venture to create
these meaningful learning experiences as a result of employing innovative educational mechanisms
that ensure the participation of everyone. This essay aims to explore the invaluable effect of
incorporating the elements of Universal Design for Learning within educational environments, with
specific reference to the English curriculum.

Understanding Universal Design and Universal Design for Learning

Universal Design is an enduring and innovative design process that enables and empowers a diverse
population by improving human performance, health and wellness, and social participation

Our business strategies can dictate our level of competitiveness and determine our level of
profitability. Our strengths, weakness, obstacles and threat analysis (SWOT) gives us a tangible
picture of company direction and assists in maintaining a competitive edge moving forward.
However, the level of strategic design for the global expansion efforts discussed today, will include
a level of complexities in planning, pertaining to the industry type and the major competitors
introduced. We will be examining Netflix Inc. and its international/global operations expansions
abroad. Netflix Inc. s company profiles indicates that its international market is responsible for 27%
of the company s revenue, and the expectation of expansion would increase the international market
performance revenue to 80%, as revenue is slowing down domestically (Scott, 2014). According to
Business Journal, Netflix Inc. has decided to accelerate its market, with additional global
expansions, in the area of internet TV, to at least 200 more countries, in approximately two years, (
Netflix expansion to China, 2015 ) In this examination, we will include a tone that places emphasis
on sales and continual development of viable product and innovations, which has already positioned
the brand in the lead position of an extremely competitive domestic industry. Taking insight from
George Stark s, Curveball Strategies to fool the competition, we will have a strategy aimed at
