Abstract
This project implements a hotel network management system using Cisco
Packet Tracer, designed to simulate and manage the networking infrastructure
of a modern hotel. The system demonstrates how to configure and secure
network devices such as routers, switches, wireless access points, and servers to
provide reliable and efficient network connectivity for guests, staff, and
administrative departments.
The simulation involves setting up different network segments (VLANs) for
guest access, hotel staff, and administrative operations, ensuring both
performance and security. DHCP, DNS, and web servers are configured to
enable seamless IP address allocation, internal communication, and service
availability.
Key features of the system:
• Network Segmentation with VLANs:
The hotel network is divided into different VLANs (e.g., Guest Wi-Fi,
Staff LAN, Admin LAN) to isolate traffic and improve performance and
security.
• Dynamic IP Allocation (DHCP):
DHCP servers are configured to automatically assign IP addresses to
devices in each VLAN, reducing manual configuration and management
errors.
• Inter-VLAN Routing:
Routers are configured to allow communication between VLANs where
necessary (e.g., admin accessing hotel systems), while restricting
unnecessary cross-VLAN traffic for security.
• Server Configuration:
Servers such as DNS, Web, and File Servers are set up to simulate hotel
management systems, guest portals, and internal tools.

Introduction
In the digital age, hotels rely heavily on robust and secure network
infrastructures to deliver seamless internet connectivity and digital services to
guests, staff, and management. With increasing demands for fast, secure, and
well-segmented networks, ensuring proper network management has become a
vital aspect of modern hospitality operations.
This project aims to design and simulate an efficient hotel network using Cisco
Packet Tracer, focusing on network segmentation, secure connectivity, and
centralized management. By configuring routers, switches, VLANs, servers,
and wireless access points, the system simulates a real-world network
environment suitable for hotels.
The simulation includes dividing the network into multiple VLANs—such as
Guest Network, Staff Network, and Admin Network—to improve security and
performance. It also configures essential services like DHCP for dynamic IP
allocation, DNS for domain resolution, and web/file servers for hotel
operations.
The network topology and configurations are visually represented using Cisco
Packet Tracer, allowing clear insights into device connections, traffic flow, and
segment isolation. The project further implements security features such as
Access Control Lists (ACLs) and basic firewall rules to demonstrate practical
protection measures.
This project simplifies the complex task of hotel network design by combining
real-world network protocols with a visual simulation environment, ultimately
empowering network engineers and hospitality managers to build secure and
efficient infrastructures.

OBJECTIVE
• Design a Scalable Hotel Network Architecture:
To develop a comprehensive and scalable network topology for a
hotel environment using Cisco Packet Tracer, ensuring seamless
connectivity across all departments
• Efficient Network Segmentation:
To implement VLANs for different hotel services such as reception,
guest rooms, administration, and restaurant to enhance network
performance and security.
• Guest Internet Access Management:
To provide secured and isolated internet access to hotel guests while
protecting internal hotel systems from unauthorized access.
• Router and Switch Configuration:
To configure routers and switches to enable inter-VLAN
communication, DHCP services, and static/dynamic routing for
efficient packet delivery.
• Wireless Connectivity Implementation:
To simulate wireless access points (WAPs) for providing Wi-Fi access
in guest areas, ensuring reliable coverage and controlled access
through authentication.
• Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
To incorporate network management tools and commands (ping,
traceroute, IP configuration) for real-time monitoring and
troubleshooting of the network.
6
System Design and Architecture
• Network Topology Design Module:
Constructs the overall physical and logical layout of the hotel’s network
infrastructure, including routers, switches, PCs, servers, and wireless
access points.
• User Access Management Interface:
Allows hotel staff and guests to securely access network resources based
on roles—e.g., receptionist, admin, restaurant staff, and guests—with
controlled privileges.
• VLAN and Subnetting Module:
Implements VLANs and IP subnetting to logically segment the network for
better security, performance, and traffic management across various hotel
departments.
• DHCP and DNS Server Configuration:
Enables automatic IP address assignment and domain name resolution for
all connected devices, improving usability and reducing manual
configuration.
• Routing and Inter-VLAN Communication Engine:
Ensures that different VLANs can securely communicate with each other
using static or dynamic routing techniques configured on routers.
• Firewall and ACL Security Layer:
Applies Access Control Lists (ACLs) and simulated firewall rules to
control traffic flow, preventing unauthorized access and protecting
sensitive hotel systems.
• Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting Console:
Utilizes simulation tools and commands (e.g., ping, tracert, ipconfig) to
monitor network status, diagnose issues, and validate proper connectivity
and routing.
