TASK 1: INSTALLING ACTIVE DIRECTORY DOMAIN SERVICES (ADDS)
Steps:

1. Click START – click SERVER MANAGER – click ROLES – click ADD ROLES – click NEXT
select ACTIVE DIRECTORY DOMAIN SERVICES – and click NEXT – click NEXT – click
INSTALL – click CLOSE
TASK 2: CONFIGURING DNS SERVER (dcpromo.exe)
Steps:
1. Click START – on search type: dcpromo.exe and press ENTER.
2. Click NEXT – click NEXT – select CREATE A NEW DOMAIN IN A NEW FOREST and click
– NEXT – type the name of your domain example: css.edu and click - NEXT – in Forest
functional level select Windows Server 2008/R2 and click NEXT – click NEXT –click YES, the
computer will use a dynamically assign
3. Click – Yes to continue
4. Click – NEXT – and type the password of your domain.

Password: abc@123
Confirm password: abc@123
5. Click NEXT - click NEXT.

TASK 3: ASSIGNING STATIC IP ADDRESS ON SERVER
To assign static IP address on LAN Adapter of Windows Server 2008/R2
Steps:
1. Click the LAN icon – click Network and Sharing Center – click

2. Right-click on Local Area Network – click Properties – click Internet
Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click – Properties – and select Use
the following IP address:
3. Click START – on search type CMD and press ENTER – type:
ipconfig and press ENTER.
4. Enter or use the IP address that assigned by DHCP.
5. Click – OK – click – CLOSE
TASK 4: CONFIGURING DHCP SERVER
Steps:
1. Click START – click SERVER MANAGER – click ROLES – click ADD ROLES – click
NEXT
– select DHCP Server –and click

TASK 5: JOINING CLIENT (WINDOWS 7 DESKTOP) TO DOMAIN

Steps:
1. Go to Local Area Connection – right Click Network – click Properties – Click TCP-
IPv4 – click Use the following DNS Server Address – and Supply the Preferred DNS
Server
Note: Windows Server IP Address must be the same on Preferred DNS Server IP
Address.
2. Click – START – Right click on COMPUTER – click – PROPERTIES – Click - CHANGE
SETTINGS – Click CHANGE – select and click Domain – type the name of domain: and
click – OK – type the User Name and Password of your Server for confirmation.
3. Click – OK – click OK – click OK – click CLOSE – click Restart Now.
TASK 6: CREATING ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT (OU) AND USER
Steps:
1. Click start button and go to Administrative Tools.
2. From the appeared menu click on Active Directory Users and Computers.

4. Right click on domain (css.edu) – select NEW – click Organization Unit – and type the
name of your OU.

5. After you click the Organization Unit, this window will appear.
Make sure you uncheck the:

Create 2 User Accounts
1. Click the OU that you create, then right click – click User, then this windows will
appear..
Then type the username and log-on name and click Next.
2. Type the password of you user and click- NEXT and click – FINISH.
3. Make another copy of your user. 1 user for Desktop PC and 1 user for Laptop.
TASK 7: CONFIGURING FOLDER REDIRECTION
Steps:
Create Folder at Desktop

1. Right Click on Desktop – select NEW – click – FOLDER – type the name of folder
Share the folder
2. Right click on FOLDER– click PROPERTIES – click ADVANCED SHARING -
check SHARE THIS FOLDER – click OK – click SHARE – Select EVERYONE
– and click ADD – change permission level to: Read and Write – and click –
SHARE – click DONE.
3. Copy the Network Path: highlight and right click – COPY
Go to Group Policy Management (GPM)
4. Click – >START –> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS –>GROUP
POLICIY MANAGEMENT –
5. Click Forest – click Domains – click css.edu – right click on cssuser –
click Create a GPO in this domain, and link it here… and name folder
redirection and click – OK.
6. Click cssuser – Right click on Folder Redirection (GPO) and click –EDI

9. Login your users on the client and laptop.
TASK 8: RECONFIGURING ROUTER SSID/WI-FI NAME, NETWORK KEY &
DEFAULT GATEWAY ON LAPTOP COMPUTER

Steps:
1. Press Ctrl + R and type: cmd to run the Command Prompt Application

2. On command prompt type the ipconfig command and press Enter, open your
browser: Firefox/Google Chrome or Internet Explorer and type the
Default Gateway on the address bar of your browser and press Enter.

Advance Tab and click Lan Settings to change your Default Gateway IP
Address or the Default IP Address of your wireless router.

After configure or assigning the Router’s IP Address on your wireless router click OK to take
effects your router will reboot automatically.
After Rebooting check the Default Gateway of your Wireless Router.
Go to Command prompt and type ipconfig, your default gateway should be: 192.168.55.1
After the configuration are done try to connect your Laptop on use wireless router, find the SSID
name and type the password.
TASK 9: JOINING LAPTOP (WINDOWS 10) TO DOMAIN

Note: Refer on Task Number 5 which is JOINING CLIENT
(WINDOWS 7 DESKTOP) TO DOMAIN and follow the steps.
TASK 10: DEPLOYING PRINTER USING GPO (GROUP POLICY)
Steps:
Install Printer and Document Services on Server Manager
1. Click – START – click SERVER MANAGER – click ROLES – click ADD
ROLES – click NEXT – select – PRINT SERVICES – click NEXT – click
NEXT – click INSTALL
Connect and install the driver of printer on Windows Server 2008 R2 PC.
2. Connect the printer on server, and load the driver of printer on DVD-DRIVE
wait until the program of Disk will appear.
3. Click – OPEN FOLDER TO VIEW FILES – double click the DRIVER folder -
double click the PRINTER folder - double click the WINX64 folder - double
click the SETUP folder - double click the SETUP.exe – click OK – click
Accept – click OK.
Share your Printer.
4. Click start – click Device and Printers Click and Right Click your Installed
Printer – Click Printer Properties – Click Sharing Tab – Check Share this
Printer – and Click ok – click Close.
Deploy Printer using Group Policy Management
5. Click –START – click SERVER MANAGER – click Roles – click Print
Services – Print Management – click Print Servers – click domain

Deploy with Group Policy – click BROWSE – click Default Domain Policy
– click OK –Check The user that this GPO applies to (per user) and
also check computers that this GPO applies to (per machine) and
click – ADD – click APPLY – click OK – click OK.

6. Proceed on Windows 7 computers (Desktop and Laptop) perform
gpupdate /force
7. Click Start – search type: gpupdate /force - and press ENTER – type Y
and press ENTER – the computer will force to log off automatically to update
the policy on server.
TASK 11: CONFIGURING REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION (RDC)
Remote the server on client computers (Vice Versa)
Steps:
On Windows Server
1. Click – START – Right click on COMPUTER – click PROPERTIES – click
REMOTE SETTINGS click – Allow connections from computers running
any version of Remote Desktop (less secure) click – APPLY – click OK.
On Windows 7 computer
2. Click – START – click REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION.
Type the Computer Name / IP Address of your Server and click – connect

TASK 12: CONFIGURING WEB SERVER IIS
Steps:
1. Click – START – click SERVER MANAGER – click ROLES – click ADD ROLES –
click NEXT – select – Web Server (IIS) – click NEXT – click NEXT – click NEXT –
click INSTALL – click CLOSE.
Proceed on Windows 7 computers (Desktop and Laptop)
2. Open browser firefox/Internet Explorer and type the name of your domain on
URL.
