Compare and Contrast of Hermia and Helena in a Midsummer...
Throughout the history of books, plays, and stories as a whole, competition over a boy or a girl is a
very common element that even occurs in real life. The aspect of this competition provides parallels
between two characters, entailing drama, humor, and interesting themes to the story. A perfect
example of this element is within William Shakespeares A Midsummer Night s Dream. The two
main women of the story, Hermia and Helena, compete over boys in the story, and that, as well as
their different personalities makes the story quite interesting. The relationships between the two
women changes constantly, as they are competing over boys they loveyet remain best friends. The
characters differ from each other in a number of ways to make... Show more content on

However, the plan backfires because Demetrius follows the couple to win Hermia back. Helena
states, As if our hands, our sides, voices, and minds,/Had been incorporate, So we grew together,
/ Like to a double cherry (3.2.208 210). This quote shows the normal relationship between the two
they are like the same person, obviously meaning that they are very attached. But, the friendship is
tarnished after Lysander and Demetrius come into play. The friendship between the two may be
rocky, however it is a good example of a foil and is extremely entertaining. The characters Hermia
and Helena contrast each other in a number of ways to make the play more interesting and
comedic. Helena and Hermia during an argument pointed out each other s physical differences and
shortcomings . This provides a somewhat comedic approach to the play. Additionally, it gives
physical examples of how they foil each other, making each other uncomfortable and feel insecure
about themselves. The two characters are falling for different people, meaning they have different
interests and tastes. However, confusion still occurs, with a mix up of who loves whom, showing
the author William Shakespeare made it so that the characters would oppose and contrast each other
because he wanted the play to be interesting and have some clash that would excite the audience.

Over the next couple of weeks Mexico s reserves dropped nearly $4 billion, to $121⁄2 billion. The
reasons for renewed pressure on the peso in mid December are unclear. Banco de Mexico cites
several factors, the negative effects of higher real interest rates on financial intermediaries and
debtors, market worries that the current account deficit would be difficult to finance in 1995, a
breakdown in negotiations with the rebels in Chiapas. It is also possible that leaked rumors of
changes in exchange rate policy set off another round of capital flight. In any event, over three days
Mexico lost another $1.5 billion in reserves.

SCENARIO IN MEXICO
Despite its good fiscal situation, Mexico had a substantial current account deficit during the early
1990s, and some observers believed this deficit indicated that the peso needed to be devalued.

The Mexican government and others insisted that the current account deficit was not a concern
because it was caused by a private capital inflow that was financing investment spending, not by
fiscal deficits or excessive
Second Quarter Assignment
Second Quarter Essay Assignment The second quarter in the construction program has been
packed with good information; from blueprint reading to structures lay out. Personally, I feel like
this quarter has been a little more challenging for various reasons but I have also learned a lot of
new content that will help me adapt faster and work smarter when I m out in the field. The parts
that resonate to me the most are blue print reading, laying out and marking studs for walls, and
framing. Prior to taking this class, I did not have any experience or background in construction but I
m starting to feel more confident about the skills and knowledgethat I ve acquired so far. When we
went back to school this quarter, I was looking forward to learningabout blueprints. I have worked
with AutoCAD before, but I didn t know something as simple as the meaning of the lines in a set of...

As I was doing a job search, I noticed that employers really value those skills. They are willing to
pay more to someone that knows how to frame, in order to save the time and cost of training
someone off the street. We have barely scratched the surface on this subject but I learned that
usually walls need to be spaced 16 on center. The way to lay this out is to subtract ¾ from 16
because that accounts for half of the thickness of the stud, since a nominal 2x4 is actually 1½
thick, and half of that is ¾ . Marking your first line at 15¼ and then going 16 from there would
put you exactly on the center when you start framing. Laying out for windows and doors gets
trickier and more complex because even though it s the same concept, the process is different. In
this case you have a header lay out from the center out, always accounting space for your trimmers
and king studs. You ll have cripples supporting the window and for doors the regular studs which are
the last to be
Disadvantages Of Attending College
The concept of attending college is becoming more relevant throughout the progression of one s
adolescent years. Some have had the notion of being able to acquire and maintain good grades in
order to attend a prestige university established as early as elementary school. College has become
the representation of enhancing one s education and leading them to success lifestyle, because of this
millions of students attending college, either community college or university, every year with the
amount increasing at a rapid pace. Although education is the primary reason students attended
college for, not only do they gain an advantage over those who had not had the similar opportunity
but as well as an irreplaceable connection to other students and unforgettable experiences; adding a
great deal of value for attending college. The primary reason why college has become of such high
value in our society is due to the advantages it presents to its former/current students when applied
into the real world. Based on a recent study conducted by Pew Research Center, college graduates,
ranging from ages 25 to 32, working full time earn approximately $17,500 more annually compared
to those with only a high schooldiploma (PEW). An increased salary has become the most notable
and desirable reward of achieving a college degree. As more students commence to attend colleges
and are able to obtain degrees of value the wage gap will continue to increase. With more individuals

The Basic For Correctional Rehabilitation Facilities

Paradigm Shift
Short Paper 1.2

Paradigm Shift The basic for correctional reforms from punitive approaches to behavior change has
become obvious in correctional facilities. Correctional facilities are used to deter recurrence of
criminal behavior by people but this does not always work. Many people feel that the reason that the
prison system is failing because of the luxury of prisons, TV, internet, free food and a place to
live. This is more than some people would get if they were not in the prison system and this is
why many do not care if they go back. Today many prisons are a revolving door. It is not hard to
believe that out of 10 inmates that are release 6 will return to the prison system within the first three
years of their release. In hope of a more useful approach the focus is now being made on
rehabilitation. Rehabilitation instead of prison has been on the rise along as rehabilitation in
exchange for shorter sentences. This paradigm shift raises a challenge in how courts are sentencing
criminals. The goal of rehabilitation is the decrease the number of criminal in the prison system. In
the early fore of rehabilitation it applied mainly to youths. It was not until the 1930 that the United
States started working with adult and it was not until the mid 1900s when the prisons started to
overflow with inmates that rehabilitation took off. People have argued whether or not rehabilitation
really works.
Abraham Maslow Research Paper
On April 1, 1908 Abraham Harold Maslow was born in a multiethnic neighborhood in Brooklyn,
New York to Jewish immigrants from Russia. From a young age Maslow s parents pushed him
hard for academic success. His parents were uneducated but they valued education. They hoped that
the new world would bring the best for their children. Aside from pushing their children to exceed in
school, Maslow s parents were uncaring and different. His father verbally abused him and his
mother was selfish and showed her children no love or attention. He eventually developed a strong
revulsion for his parents. Maslow also had hard time in school. He heard teachers speaking
contemptuously of him as that smart Jew, and throughout his youth he was tormented by... Show

He analyzed biographies and writings of 18 people he identified as being self actualized to
develop a list of qualities that seemed characteristic of this specific group of people. Some argue
that Maslow s method of research is questionable because of its very limited no diverse sample. It
is extremely difficult to empirically test Maslow s concept of self actualization in a way that causal
relationships can be established. Biographer, Eric Hoffman said that it is important to note that self

with Riordan Manufacturing. Many of these workers have been discovered working for many of
our competitors. This is a risk that must be addressed immediately. Riodan has invested time,
training and money to develop many of the workers skill sets that had made them valuable to the
company. Riordan manufacturing has been directly impacted by this risk because many of the
products that they have produced recently are of low quality and our production levels are
extremely low beyond the standard manufacturing levels. A new project has been initiated to
address the risk issues involved low employee morale and product quality and quantity. Project

Essay about Traits of Marlow in the Big Sleep
Marlowe The Big Sleep

What are my traits?

Marlowe runs a single man operation out of the Cahuenga building in Los Angeles. He is tall and
big enough to take care of himself. And his interests are Liquor, women, reading, chess and working
alone. He is educated enough that he can speak English if he s required to . Marlowe used to work
for the district attorney, but was fired for insubordination.

Philip Marlowe, a private detective. Tall, dark, and rugged, with a poker face and a quick wit, he is
attractive to women but wary of them and of all entanglements. Though cynical and hard boiled, and
a heavy drinker capable of violence, Marlowe is idealistic, even puritanical. Contemptuous of money,

Through viewing scenes where Marlowe is beaten up and tied up by Mars men, we come to realize
the strength of Marlowe s integrity and will. Although he is put through much physical pain as well
as the mental pain of witnessing horrific acts, he bites the bullet and commits himself completely to
the tasks placed before him. Once again, he does not do his task for the small amounts of money,
but he does it because he feels it is what he must do.

My Home Life
Sometimes I look at other people, and wonder what their home life is like. Do they have an easy
life? Or is their life just as complicated as mine? As a child I grew up on a small farm in Virginia.
Even as a child I had to help my mom out around the house, due to having 5 other siblings.
Growing up I never really saw my dad, he s always away training soldiers and fighting in wars.
Now, I m 20 years old and after this war I will be getting married to the love of my life. Everyday I
worry about my fiance and father in the war. Once I turned 18 life hit me like a trolley. I had to
take on a few more jobs, while trying to raise my brothers. Where is my mom you might be
wondering? She is always to busy to help around the house. Mom thinks I have it under control,
but I don t. I need someone s help to take care of these kids, how much I long for my fiance to
come back. He would actually help me, my mom s only good for marry all different husbands! I
m not going to complain, my brothers mean the world to me. I guess my point is I just need a little
help from someone. What else could possibly go wrong in my life? I sure hope nothing. September
24, 1915 I received a letter. On the envelope it says to the Samhurts family, or to whom it may
concern. It is a letter from the U.S. Army! It s either about my father or my fiance. My heart drops, I
can not even imagine losing one of them. It is time to stop thinking of the negative outcomes and
just open the letter. The first thing it
Empowering Presence In College
Empowering Presence Sometimes friends come from where you least expect them to. I never
would have imagined Kali Kuntz had the capacity to be my companion, for she did not meet my
standards at first glance: she made friends of people who I chose not to associate with, she
clumsily stumbled around the schoolyard, she tended to take part in activities that I found rather
mundane. Despite everything I put against her initially, I found a friend in Kali, whose company
I have shared longer than with any other. As it turned out, our compatibility emerged far more
substantial than you can perceive in a mere glimpse. We laugh at the same jokes, we share our
lack of athleticism, and we find jubilation in embracing the cats who roam our homes. Meeting
Kali has shifted my approach to everyday life; I have been unchangeably shaped by her unfaltering
presence. It all started at the beginning of fourth grade, when everyone moved to a new classroom,
a new teacher, and, the most pivotal point, a new class of students. I, introverted and shy as I was,
had to break boundaries and find different people to spend time with. My... Show more content on

The ways she has altered my life cannot be undone, only revised. Because Kali inconceivably
depended on me, I began to take responsibility for my actions and try to be the reliable friend she
needed. When I found us on even ground, I let go of the mindset that she needed me, and I found
the mutual dependability that we have now. If we ever find ourselves in a place with no friends,
we can always turn back to each other for that companionship that everyone needs in their lives. By
being with Kali s influence, I have found that in order to have a relationship that lasts, you need to
be a constant, unfailing, untiring presence for those people who need something to fall back on
