The Proximate Causes Of Violence In The Yanomamo Culture
In the Yanomamo culture, warfare is practiced as a way to demonstrate the strength of a village,
or individual. Overall, warfare is practiced in the Yanomamo culture because of a combination of
factors. One of the proximate, or indirect, causes of the violence include seeking revenge for
villagers who have been killed. Another proximate cause of violence that it is used to steal
women from other villages in order to increase the number of available wives. Also, villages must
appear intimidating and tough so that other villages do not raid them. These are a few of the
proximate causes of violence. Competition over scarce resources is one ultimate, or root, cause of
violence. Men who are violent may gain greater social status, which encourages violence overall.
Another ultimate cause of the violence is the lack of strong political leadership within the villages.
These villages do not have leaders to stop violence or structure violence in productive ways.
Without such leaders, villagers are more likely to rely on violence in impulsive ways. Hostility
between villages often results in violence, as there are no leaders to resolve the hostility. In addition,
another ultimate cause of violence is the geographical environment of the Yanomamo. Since the
Yanomamo territory is restricted, and often invaded by outsiders, available land becomes more
scarce. This causes competition for land to increase, which increases violence. Since people of the
Yanomamo cannot move into areas
Similarities Between India And Greeta Dynasties
India s dynasties were so different from China s and Persia s dynasties. India was a lot more
culturally diverse, and their ruling revolved around their culture and religious tradition. The
Mauryan and Gupta dynasties both got their structure and foundations from the Persian empire and
their leaders. Darius established Achaemenid rule and administration in India, and then Alexander the
Great came and stayed for a short time, and then left. Though Alexander the Great did not leave an
impression on them, he started a power vacuum, which Chandragupta filled, and started the Mauryan
empire. He continued to use the Persian technique of administration and he laid the foundation of
centralized rule, the first on to do that in India. Chandragupta did this by first taking control of the
small provinces of Magadhaand working his way to the center of India. In fourth century BCE, the
empire stretched all the way from Indus to Ganges River in North India. Chandragupta s advisor
Kautalya, who helped him write a book called the Arthashastra, it was a book about the
procedures on how to rule the Mauryan empire. The AP book refers to it as ways of managing the
empire. It goes over things like trade, agriculture, collecting taxes, keeping order, conducting
foreign relations, and conducting war. The handout, Intermittent Empire: The Case of India, refers
to it as a political ideology for Mauryan rulers, and how a king must go to drastic measures
sometimes to make sure all is well. It does
Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and Parenting
Boisterous , energetic , and spontaneous were once adjectives used to describe the behaviour of
normal, healthy children [CITE]. These days, similar behaviours might be labeled problematic ,
hyperactive , and uncontrollable , often resulting in the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD) and the prescription of a psychostimulant drug [CITE]. According to the DMS V,
ADHD is described as a combination of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity (American
Psychiatric Association, 2013). Due to the nature of the symptoms, ADHD can significantly hinder a
child s ability to succeed in a school setting, both academically and socially, which could have dire
implications for their future [CITE]. With almost 11% of children in the United States currently
diagnosed with the disorder, ADHD has been labeled an epidemic and this has lead to a significant
increase in the amount of research devoted to determining its cause and treatment [CITE]. The
increased attention has also attracted a great deal of controversy, with medical experts questioning
the safety of administering psychostimulant drugs to children. Although the evidence is often
contradictory, due to an increase in the documentation of the adverse side effects in children caused
by psychostimulant medication [CITE] as well as an increase in the evidence of nonpharmacological
treatments successfully reducing the symptoms of ADHD, many parents have become reluctant in
allowing their children to
My First Broken Heart Of Love
It is true love can become atrocious and unbearable. It happens too many times than it should
happen. I have experienced the beauty of love and also the tragic of love. I was barely a teenager
and I thought I was in love with this boy. His name was Noah. I should emphasize on the past
tense was because it s apart of the tragedy. Noah and I were best friends for two years. We met
each other in 7th grade. He had moved to Maryland from Texas with his father, step mother, step
brother, and dog. Our relationship bloomed like a gorgeous rose then withered and eventually died.
I was barely a teenager and I experienced my first broken heart. Lovesucks.
At first, when I saw the new kid in my math class, I thought that he would have a hard time fitting
it. The first thing anyone would notice about this kid was how incredibly thin he was. He was
severely underweight and looked very anorexic. The second thing you would notice about this
kid is his protruding front teeth. His front teeth and comical ears made him looked like a rat. I
knew this kid would get picked on immediately. Unfortunately, it did happen, by an overweight
kid. The overweight name was Garrett. Surprisingly, Noah and Garrett became friends. Since
Garrett was friends with one of my friends, he introduced Noah to our group of friends. That s how
our relationship started. Noah was also in my gym class along with math. We were always partners
in gym because we were not athletic. We officially became friends when we

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician s Nephew
Written by C.S. Lewis
*Contains Spoilers*
Genre The genre of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician s Nephew is fantasy because the
events that occur, such as magic and talking animals as an example, could not occur in real life.
Plot Summary The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician s Nephew, by C.S. Lewis, is about a young
boy and girl named Digory and Polly, respectively, who are neighbors living in London. Digory and
his mother recently moved in with his Aunt Letty and Uncle Andrew after his mother became

Polly: Polly is caring, firm, and knowledgeable as evidenced by her commonly making wise, well
thought out decisions.
Uncle Andrew: Uncle Andrew is foolish, greedy, and selfish which is shown by him using Polly
and Digory to test the rings instead of doing so himself.
Aslan: Aslan is wise, courageous, and thoughtful for allowing Digory to take an apple to heal his
mother.
Jadis: Jadis is evil, cruel, and crafty, which is shown by her ability to trick various people into
trusting her just enough to use them for her own benefit.
Setting This story primarily takes place in London and the world of Narnia, occurring in the late
1800 s.
Theme One theme of this book is one bad choice does not have to define one s characters. I believe
this to be true because in the book, Digory made several mistakes that lead to bringing Jadis to
Narnia, but he helped protect them from her by retrieving the apple.
Mood The mood of this book is encouraging because it shows that even throughout all the negative
choices and people, there were many people who were unselfish and cared for each other. Some
examples of this are Aslan giving Digory the apple to help his mother, Digory retrieving the apple to
protect Narnia, and Digory caring about his mother s

The Influence of Plato s Theories on Chrisianity
On the surface, pagan culture and Christianity would appear to have very little in common.
Traditionally, the Hellenistic pagan cultures worshipped multiple deities; the central of which were
the twelve Olympians of the Greek Pantheon. Lesser divine beings and demi humans also played a
significant role in the Hellenistic culture. The worship of these deities was the mainstream of
religion during the Hellenistic period until the rise of the great philosophers. Amongst these
philosophers, Plato emerged as one of the founding fathers of Western philosophy. Living from
roughly 428 BCE until 348 BCE, Plato s theories predated Christianityby at least four centuries.
Because of this, it can be assumed that early Christian worshippers used... Show more content on

Immediately upon the death of the body, the soul departs to the transcendent world and freed
from the the error and folly of men, their fears and wild passions and all other human ills, and for
ever dwells, as they say of the initiated, in company with the gods. For the souls who were not
pure and corrupted by human life, Platonic theory asserts that they must first be cleansed before
being permitted to dwell in the transcendent world. Plato states that these souls are doomed to
wander the earth and are imprisoned in another body in order to free themselves from the vices of
the physical world and once this is accomplished they are then permitted to rejoin the gods in the
transcendent realm. All good deeds are rewarded while the wicked are punished.
Platonic Influence on Christianity First and foremost, the Platonic influence on the Christian God
must be discussed. According to the Christian Theology, God is the perfect being who is essentially
the personification of intelligence, power, grace, goodness, freedom, and love. God is the source
of all goodness in the world. In Colossians 1:16, this idea of greatness and power is reiterated. It is
written that, For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created

the sources given in this report! I have selected three current authoritative sources and one current
popular source to share with you. Though there are numerous authoritative sources in the business
community, the three I selected are Bloomberg Business, Harvard Business Review, and Forbes. For
my current popular source, I selected Investopedia. While analyzing both authoritative and popular
sources I will explain what makes them authoritative or popular, describe their unique characteristics,

Mayor Michael Bloomberg ( Editorial Team ). This source is also accepted throughout the global
