Chapter 10: Direction Test

Important points to be noted:

 We draw the figure in the observer’s (i.e our) point of view. Observer must be
assumed facing North
 If a person going towards North then Person’s left is observer’s left and Person’s
right is observer’s right
 If a person going towards south then Person’s left is observer’s right and Person’s
right is observer’s left
 If a person going towards East, then his left is north & his right is south
 If a person going towards West, then his left is south & his right is north
 Coming from North means going towards south and coming from south means
going towards north
 Turning right means making an angle 90 degrees with respect to the initial (dotted)
line
 Mark the distances travelled in each direction proportionally
 Use Pythagorous theorem to find the distance in special cases (i.e for the slant
distances)
 When the sun is in the Eastern side then the shadow will fall on the western side and
vice versa.
 If the 2 persons are facing each other in north- south directions, then the shadow will
fall on their right or left hand side.
 If the 2 persons are facing each other in East- west directions, then the shadow will
fall either infront or behind.

Based on Final Position and Final position with respect to initial position
