A Report on Waste Management Practices in
My Community

Introduction:

Proper waste management is essential for

maintaining cleanliness, protecting the
environment, and ensuring a healthy
community. To understand how families in
my area manage their household waste, I
interviewed five families and gathered
information about their waste disposal habits
and awareness.
Report

Family 1 – The Shah’s Family:

This family separates their waste into dry and wet
categories. Kitchen waste is used in their backyard
compost pit, while plastics and bottles are collected and
sold to scrap dealers. They are aware of the harmful effects
of burning waste and avoid it.

Family 2 – The Gupta’s Family:

They do not separate waste. All garbage is dumped in one
plastic bag and given to the municipal waste collectors.
They admitted to sometimes burning plastic, unaware of its
environmental impact.

Family 3 – The Dahal’s Family:

This family is very eco-conscious. They compost food
waste, reuse containers, and send recyclables to collection
centers. They even join local clean up programs.
Family 4 – The Bhandari Family:
Both parents work full-time and try to reuse jars and bags.
However, they don’t separate waste due to lack of time and
guidance but are interested in improving.

Family 5 – The Kedar’s Family:

Inspired by their daughter’s school lessons, they recently
began separating waste. They also carry reusable bags
while shopping and feel proud of their progress.

Conclusion:

Some families in the community are taking good steps

toward managing waste, while others are just beginning.
With more awareness and local support, the entire
community can adopt better waste management practices
for a cleaner environment.
Conclusion
This project helped me learn more about my community
and what they do for waste management. I prepared a
report on what people do in my community do for waste
management . I would like to thank Shiva Khawas sir for
giving us this interesting project, which improved my
understanding and writing skills.
Effective waste management is essential for maintaining
environmental health, conserving natural resources, and
promoting sustainable development. Improper handling
of waste leads to pollution, health hazards, and ecosystem
damage, whereas proper waste segregation, recycling,
composting, and responsible disposal can significantly
reduce these impacts. Public awareness, government
policies, and community participation all play a crucial
role in creating a cleaner and healthier environment. By
adopting eco-friendly practices and promoting the
3Rs(Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle)we can move toward a
more sustainable future for all.

experience for me while working on this
project.

This project took me through various

aspects of project and taught me about
research and finding. It also gave me
real insight into this project topic. This
project was full of thrill and joy. I learn a
lot about problem solving and how to
deal with challenges.

Thank you for giving me this project.

Question

#Mensuration (Combined solid and cost estimation)

(a) Form different groups of students with proper size.

Each group will visit a shop of construction materials
and observe different types of water tanks made from
plastic or metal. Identify their geometric shapes. Also,
find the capacity of tanks in liters, prices and ratio of
their capacity and price. Prepare a report including
these details and also present it in your classroom.

(b) You are planning to construct an underground water

tank of capacity 30,000 liter at your home. The tank will
be constructed in cuboids shape. What should be the
length, breadth and depth of pit so that the tank may
contain 30,000 liter water? Estimate the cost of
construction of tank.
