Flow Patterns

Flow patterns are an integral part of the SOPs. The cockpit setup for each phase of flight should be accomplished with a
flow pattern. Refer to checklists for setup and use these checklists as “done lists” rather than “do lists”.

A flow pattern is a disciplined procedure requiring methodical accomplishment and full understanding of the aircraft sys-
tems and controls.

A. Hot Items and Lights
Note
Turn on hot items for 30 seconds - then OFF. Expedite check
before items cool. The check of lights and hot items can be
most expeditiously performed by two crew members coordi-
nating with hand signals.
• During inspection, make a general check for security,
condition and cleanliness of the airplane and compo-
nents.
• Check particularly for damage; fuel, oil and hydraulic
fluid leakage; security of access panels; and removal of
keys from locks.
