Weimar Republic Essay
Weimar Republic There were various factors that contributed to the failure of the Weimar Republic
of Germany and the ascent of Hitler s National Socialist German Workers Party into power on
January 30, 1933. Various conflicting problems were concurrent with the eventuation of the Republic
that, from the outset, its first governing body the socialist party (SPD) was forced to contend with.
These included the aspect of German imperialism, the unresolved defeat of 1918, financial collapse
and the forced struggle against the activities of the National party as well as inflation. Other factors
which influenced the failure of Weimar were the structural weaknesses induced by the constitution
and the basic lack of support for the Republic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sailors at Kiel mutinied in a last desperate effort on October 28 and On November 9, 1919,
the streets were filled with crowds marching to demonstrate at the center of Berlin. Similarly, even
before the contingency of these incidents, the center party, a liberal group who were the coalition
government of the acting SPD formed by Phillip Scheidemann, resigned rather than sign the Treaty
of Versailles. Besides, German patriotism was strong, in particular because the German people
believed they had fought a defensive war and were told their soldiers were unconquered in the
field. Therefore, the humiliating Treaty came as a rude shock to the German people who,
correspondingly, blamed the politicians for betraying the soldiers in signing the armistice and saw
them as compounding their treason by accepting the peace settlement. They spoke of the November
criminals and protested A nation of seventy million suffers, but does not die. These factors
propagated in the promotion of anti republican feeling, the conclusions of which were clearly
reflected in the results of the election of June 1920. To illustrate, the SPD lost nearly half its seats
(many to the USDP) and the right wing parties (DVP and DNVP) increased their share at the
expense of the democrats. Defeated on the battlefield, defeated at the conference table, defeated at
the polls, the republic embarked on its uncertain career. Furthermore, compliance with the Treaty
Essay on Hollywood and the Vietnam War
Human history has been kept alive through a variety of mediums over the centuries. Throughout
much of time, stories were told verbally to younger generations while written records and artifacts
enhanced the story s authenticity. In the late 19th and early 20th century, technology revolutionized
story telling with the invention of the video camera. Rather than hearing anecdotal stories about
historic events, people could now see images of events happening all over the world. In addition,
motion pictures were created to present fictional and non fictional stories for education and
entertainment. The United States, and specifically Hollywood, became the center of the film
industry world wide. The widespread social and political changes which... Show more content on

After nearly fifteen years of troops committed to the conflict beginning in 1959 and withdrawal in
1975, a number of films were made about Vietnam (Goldfield, 2014). The Green Berets, the sole
movie produced during the conflict, featured an image presented by John Wayne consistent with the
heroic battles in Europe during World War II. Filmmakers emerged in greater numbers in the late
1970s and 1980s after considering that rather than focusing on the perception of losing the war, there
were more important stories to tell about the conflict. Some of the notorious films about the Vietnam
War are Born on the Fourth of July, Platoon, Apocalypse Now, We Were Soldiers, Rambo, Deer
Hunter, Full Metal Jacket, and Hamburger Hill. Vast differences between how and why the films
were made and the background and inspiration for the directors who made the film were apparent.
Within each director lay a unique interpretation of the conflict based on personal experience (Toplin,
1991). There were some films that attempted to counter the feeling that the U.S. had lost the war and
explored a hypothetical favorable American outcome in unifying North and South Vietnam under
democracy (Siskel, 1985). Movies like Full Metal Jacket explored new concepts such as how the
press presence in Vietnam influenced public support for the war. Many of these films were popular
because of their violent imagery. Scenes depicting
How Did Martin Luther King Jr Unjust
Dr.Martin Luther King jr vs Unjust laws Fellow Clergymen One has a moral responsibility to
disobey unjust laws. Dr. Martin Luther King jr believes that laws are unjust if they only apply to
certain groups and the way he personalized his argument for the clergymen was very convincing.
Laws in Birmingham were not fair to every race and only targeted mostly minorities even if the
minority made up the majority of the population. He was non violently protesting to change these
unjust laws so that every man, woman and child could have the same opportunities and rights. He
also wanted to stop the flow of injustice into other states as it had infected Alabama. As president of
the Southern Christian Leadership Conference he was invited to attend a sit in in... Show more

While attending this sit in he was arrested and thrown in jail for breaking the law for parading
without a permit . This law inherently denies any protestor of their first amendment rights and that
was only one point that Dr.King was trying to make. Birmingham s economic council convened
with the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights and they agreed to remove any
inappropriate signs and let any race enjoy their stores. But, the economic council broke their
promise and kept the signs and didn t allow any black people into their stores causing more unrest.
This irritated and incited more frustration among the already angry black population. Dr.King knew
that non violent protesting of these discriminations and unjust laws was the only way to bring
about change without causing a war between white and black people. Dr.King provides the
example that some laws were created without any input from the race being discriminated upon
because these races had not been allowed to vote. The black people had to go through more
rigorous screening to vote than white people causing whole counties to not have any black
registered voters. Dr.King tried to make his argument more clear by drawing similarities
Averrhoa Carambola Essay
OSMOTIC DEHYDRATION OF STARFRUIT
Averrhoa carambola

INTRODUCTION
Star fruit, botanically called as Carambola, is a star shaped tropical fruit with sweet and sour flavor.
Malayan peninsula native Carambola is cultivated in many parts of Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands
and China for its fruits. Eventhough, abundant and plentiful, carambola is yet to gain popularity,
especially in the western world.
Scientific name: Averrhoa carambola. The genus Averrhoa includes two well known sorrels
(Oxalidaceae) family of fruiting trees, carambola.
Star fruit is a small, bushy evergreen tree that grows very well under hot, humid, tropical
conditions. The plant bears small lilac colored, bell shaped flowers in clusters which subsequently
develop into oblong shaped fruits with characteristic five angled edges (sides or ribs) that appear
like a starfish in cross sections. Both sweet and sour varieties begin to yield under cultivable
orchards, and ready for harvesting when the plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Advent of Penicillin Essay
The Advent of Penicillin

The advent of penicillin forever changed the world of medicine at its discovery with its ability to
treat diseases, deadly at the time, that are now considered commonplace and easily treatable.
Penicillin was one of the greatest discoveries of the twentieth century, as antibiotics are one of the
most highly prescribed drugs in the world today. Although its discovery is often described as
serendipitous, the process by which it was cultivated was quite meticulous, and continued attention
has been paid to penicillin s further development. It is because penicillin and its derivatives have
played such a vital role in everyday medicine that it is such an important topic. Penicillin works by
virtue of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time, however, Fleming did meet with Howard Florey, who would later take on a
vital role in the development of penicillin. By the mid 1930s, the advent of sulfa drugs essentially
ended all of Fleming s research on penicillin. However, during this time period, Howard Florey
had begun research on lysozymes, and took special interest in antibiotics in 1938 after reading
Fleming s original paper. Ernst Chain, working in Florey s lab, carried out many of the initial
experiments in lab mice, all highly successful in treating infections of streptococcus bacterium.
Human tests soon thereafter, also proved penicillin to be highly effective, even in cases in which
sulfa drugs had failed. However, production of the drug was still a problem, and trials could not be
conducted on a large scale. By this time it was 1941, and although penicillin s benefits had proven,
culture mediums were still only yielding one part per million penicillin. With Word War II raging,
and resources becoming scarce, Florey negotiated with the Rockefeller Foundation of the United
States to move himself and a colleague to the United States in order for him to continue his research.
This project would gain added momentum when the United States entered the war, with the
development of penicillin becoming a war project. Shortly thereafter, it was determined that Fleming

Gothic Architecture During The High And Late Middle Ages
Gothic architecture is a style of architecture that evolved from Romanesque architecture and thrived
in Europe during the High and Late Middle Ages. During the 13th and 14th centuries, Gothic
architecture was known as opus modernum ( modern work ) with the term Gothic first appearing
during the latter part of the Renaissance. The Gothic Cathedral was the unique product of an era of
peace and widespread economic prosperity, deep spirituality, and extraordinary technological
innovation. (Kleiner 365) The Gothic style brought innovative new construction techniques that
allowed churches and other buildings to reach great heights. The rib vault, flying buttress, and
pointed (Gothic) arch were used as solutions to the problem of building a very tall structure while
preserving as much natural light as possible. Light streamed through stained glass window panels
which became illuminated visual sermons of biblical stories. Gothic Cathedrals were considered by
clergy and the public as glorious images of the City of God, the Heavenly Jerusalem, which they
were privileged to build on earth. There were simultaneous developments in Gothic architecturein the
major regions of France, England, and the Holy Roman Empire.
One of the earliest buildings to combine these elements into a coherent style was the abbey of Saint
Denis in Paris, France, known to be the birthplace of Gothic architecture. In 1135, a monk named
Abbot Suger began rebuilding the abbey church with rib vaults on pointed
The Time Before The First Millennium
The time before the traditional Renaissance has long been described as a period of stagnation,
violence and irrationality. Yet, as more information emerges about this time period, we find that it is
not so. While the time before the first millennium was arguably adequately termed the Dark Ages,
the 12th century marked a great period of improvement in thought, architecture, literature and many
other facets of society. In order for the Renaissance of the 12th century to occur, problems that
persisted through the Dark Ages had to be resolved to promote all of these growths. These problems
include decentralization of government, lack of a stable food supply and numerous invasions.
Perhaps the greatest obstacle to the growth seen in the 12th century was decentralization of
government. Under states of disorder and chaos, like the time after the fifth century, culture has the
tendency to stagnate and uneasiness sweeps over the people. The monarchs around this time had
difficulty holding supremacy over their kingdoms and held little control over the nobility
(especially when compared to times like the 15th century). This was a major obstacle to growth of
kingdoms and had to be overcome before the growth of the 12th century could be realized. After the
fall of the Roman Empirein the fifth century and the preceding weakening of the empire, provinces
previously dominated by the Romans fell apart into chaos when the Roman soldiers who were
enforcing order left to defend Rome against
Research Paper On Synchronized Swimming
Synchronized swimming is known as both an art and a sport. It is the most glamorous sport I ever
see, girls have the grace and femininity of a Classic Ballet dancer. They use sparkling costumes
and a lot of waterproof make up. Swimmers perform a dance routine that starts on the deck of the
pool, where they make poses, and take to the water in ostensibly artistic fashion. The sport requires
great strength, endurance, grace, and timing. They also have to smile the whole time, even if their
teammate kicks them in the face during the performance. Accordingly to this, that is why people like
me, see it as an art thing not a sport. It looks so easy when you see the swimmers doing their
performance without any efforts. But then, my daughter who... Show more content on

People don t think of the actual athleticism the sport requires. Synchro is an extremely demanding
sport, swimmers have to work at maximum at every practice. Consequently, Synchronized swimming
is harder than regular swimming, because they have to be good swimmers too, fast and coordinated.
They swim miles, contrarily to popular belief. Therefore, they do sprints, they do anything that
will make them faster and stronger. But on top of that, they do tons of eggbeater drills, which is
the kick that they use to stay standing out of the water and do the dancing with their arms. They
have to stay on the count in routine, count the music, check their patterns, make sure they have
good extension, keep our shoulders dry in eggbeater, scull the entire time. Synchro couldn t even
be compared to swimming or dance, because is both and more so is twice harder or even more.
Synchro requires every muscle in the body, most of which are never used in life, so that means
even more training to get those muscles developed. Synchro is all about body control. It needs that
the swimmer has knowledge of a lot of sports at the same time; Swimming, Diving, Gymnastics and
more, but they also need the grace of a ballerina, the expressions of an actress, and the rhythm of a
