As planning for the new Barrett Complex had just begun, they went to the Dean and presented their
idea for a sustainable residence hall at Barrett. The Dean was very receptive to the idea and formed
the Sustainable Living Community to be part of the planning for the new complex (History of BSC
2013). While Construction kept getting delayed, students in the interim formed the Sustainability
House at Barrett as a club to establish a series of short term and long term goals until they could have
their own residential community on campus. Together, the students developed the final mission
statement for the Sustainability House at Barrett:
Understanding sustainability as a holistic perspective from which to view the world allows us to
recognize the interconnectedness of all things. This perspective leads to a critical examination of our
role in society and the complex and evolving relationship between environmental, economic, and
social issues. We realize that our success and happiness depends not only on ourselves, but also on
our community and surroundings. As a student initiated and consensus based group, the
Sustainability House at Barrett seeks to act as a support community for integrating sustainability into
the lives of its
Elder abuse Essay
Elder Abuse Elder abuse has been present in our society in the past times; however, it has been
the hidden problem and under recognized by our community. It is really challenging for people to
understand the severity of this problem unless one encountered it in one s life. Society began to
really acknowledge this issue because of the cases that have been reported. There are varieties of
categories of elder abuse that are reportable to a healthcare provider; however, many cases are still
left unreported and elder victims continue to suffer from mistreatment. The seniors that surround us
have contributed to our community and to the great things that we now have. These people should
be recognized and protected in all areas of life instead... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These people depending on their health have a decision making capacity and rationality to make
the choices regarding their care. Nonmalificence is an ethical principle of doing no harm.
Negligence or failing to act by the health provides could be considered harmful to the elders. This
could be seen as direct harm in health care facilities or a fear to report an elder abuse to the social
worker (ANA, 2010). It is important to examine all ethical aspects in healthcare to set appropriate
ethical behavior in the health setting among professionals to provide the treatment that each
individual deserves. When a resident becomes admitted to the skilled nursing facility, the
organization promises them the best possible care. The staff is required to maintain the highest
level of physical and mental well being. The idea behind nursing homes is to sustain physical
health and provide treatments. Nurses are supposed to create accommodation to meet the resident
s reasonable needs. For example, if a resident refuses a shower but prefers the bath, it is important
to understand his or her needs to ease anxiety and stress. Most of the elderly experience loneliness
and helplessness. Nurses violate the standards of practice by mistreating their residents. The need of
care is universal regardless of the age and gender. The nurse should deliver care to patients with
respect (ANA, 2010). Unfortunately, there are many cases in the
Panic ! At The Disco (P ! ATD)
Panic! At the Disco Panic! At the Disco (P!ATD) is a pop punk rock band that consists of the lead
singer and face of the group, Brendon Urie, and several unnamed/unpopular guitarists and
drummers. The biggest competitor for P!ATD is the other main stream pop punk rock band
called Fall Out Boy (FOB) which consists of Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman, and Andy
Hurley. Although P!ATD and FOB have similar musical styles, the different music videos each
group presents, the varying tunes and lyrics, and disparate stage presence during live concerts, is
why I lean toward P!ATD as my favorite overall band, with FOB falling just behind it. The themes
and theatrics behind P!ATD music videos are superior to FOB music videos. The themes P!ATD
choose are deep and meaningful and at a first glance, doesn t even seem to relate to the song but
once you start looking closer, you start to see the hidden connections.... Show more content on

One of my favorites lyrics from P!ATD song, Don t Threaten Me With A Good Time, is
Memories tend to just pop up/Drunk pre meds and some rubber gloves/Five thousand people with
designer drugs/Don t think I ll ever get enough. The first time I heard this part of the song, I
surprisingly started laughing out loud in public (I m a pre med student). Ever since then, I
became a fan of P!ATD and I can proudly say that I know the lyrics to 80% of their songs. FOB
lyrics are catchy but not as comedic and unique as I would like. For example, in their song My
Song Knows What You Did in the Dark, the chorus is I m a young lover s rage/Gonna need a
spark to ignite/My song knows what you did in the dark/So light em up up up..., the lyrics are
somewhat predictable and not that memorable as the lyrics used in P!ATD songs. Because of the
lyrics and tune that P!ATD use, I find myself looking more forward to listening to P!ATD songs
because it s easier for me to sing along to
Essay on Escalating Professional Athlete Salaries
Escalating Professional Athlete Salaries
Works Cited Not Included

In recent years, with the growing popularity of sports, athletes salaries have escalated like that of a
superb stock equity. Athletes are taking full advantage of their position, causing the average man to
wonder how high will they go. Some feel that athletes are greedy people who have lost care for the
true meaning of their salary, the love of the game.

Others feel that if a person is able to earn that kind of money, why shouldn t they? Increases in
athlete salaries will bring up the question on whether athletes are worth the money by researching
the NBA?s new collective bargaining agreement (before and after the approval), by observing the
current salaries of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem is they want to do that immediately. In a couple years, after Garnett develops into a
superstar, people will be saying ?Boy, I?m glad we signed him [Garnett].? Rosen thinks that it was
undoubtedly necessary to have rookie salary caps. If there weren?t those rookie caps, kids out of
college, even high school like KG [Kevin Garnett], would be signing these multi million dollar
contracts right after the draft. There is no doubt in my mind that that was a good thing to do. He
also feels that these high salaries are good because it shows that revenue is going up (Rosen).
Sports salaries have sky rocketed in the past ten to fifteen years. Professional athletes have moved
from six figure salaries to nine figure salaries in what seems like a snap of a finger. Michael Jordan,
for example, got paid about $35 million a year not counting endorsements. Let?s put that in easier
terms: $439,000 a game $12,500 a minute played, assuming he plays about 35 minutes per game
$209 a second played almost $40,000 a jumpshot, assuming he makes 11 jumpshots per game
That is a ton of money when one looks at it this way. If one includes the endorsements he gets,
which are from Nike, Gatorade, Hanes, Ballpark hot dogs, Jordan shoes and clothing, Rayovac
Batteries, and Michael Jordan cologne, he makes about one million dollars per game. Now this is a
little too much, even if it is, in fact, Michael Jordan, probably the best basketball
The Impact Of Modern Television On Contemporary Culture Essay
Recent and historical events throughout television history have demanded a redefinition of the
medium in contemporary culture. Throughout its history television has predominantly relied upon
industry practices established early in the 1960s, however, the turn of the century has produced such
divergence from these practices that some scholars are defining it as an entirely new era of television.
Lotz, for example, employs the term post network , an indication of televisions separation from
earlier dominant network practices (9). For the most part, Lotz and scholars alike agree that this
transition has stemmed from changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and
distributing television, as well new introductions to the industry such as the arrival of digital
technologies. This essay will agree with these scholars, arguing that significant changes to the
Western television industry has resulted in a new, distinctive era of television culture.
First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television
development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and
post network era (7). Each developing upon the last, the industrial changes which occurred in the
earlier eras had direct effects on the formation of the current post network era.
The network era , which spanned roughly from the early 1950s to the mid 1980s, governed industry
operations and created a television experience
Demographic Characteristics Affecting Communities In Canada
In What Ways Do Demographic Characteristics Affect Communities in Canada?

Demographic characteristics play a major role, affecting communities in Canada. Three main
demographic characteristics that affect a country are population growth rate, population density, and
the dependency load of a country. These characteristics can have a beneficial impact, as well as a
negative impact, on communities in Canada.

Have you ever wondered why some country s population is not as large as others, or why some are
increasing while others are decreasing? The population growth rate definitely affects communities in
an area. It is a measurement that combines both natural increase rate and net migration rate to
calculate the total population increase of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adults that work support the country and people who are not working. The dependency load is
the people who are not working; ages 0 to 14 and over the age of 65. The dependency ratio
compares the number of people not working to the number of people working. The more working
people a country has, the greater the economical growth. With more money being given to the
government, the effect is that the region could have better technology, transportation, healthcare,
and food quality as the government has the money to buy, build, and repair. In Canada, because of
our decrease in population, (figure 1.4) there future dependency load will be greater than our
workforce causing economical problems. (Patterns and Trends: Although Canada s population is
decreasing over time, this could change as another baby boom could happen.) Since we have less
people working, it will eventually cause problems such as our economy will go down. To solve a
problem like this, the government could raise the taxes to keep the money going in, or increase the
population by
When We Were So Hungry That We Stole People s Food While...
Main Idea: People did whatever it took to survive.
1.That night we were so hungry that we stole people s food while they slept. This example of
economics because even though they had money when they went back to Mattru Jong, the people
wasn t selling anymore because they had to survive also. In order for them to survive they had to
steal the people food.

2.We loaded the supplies in plastic bags and six of us went to the nearest market, where we sold
them to a vendor. This is an example of economics because they had to survive by selling their
school supplies in order to get money and buy things with their money. Also they wanted to go to

We slept in abandoned villages, where we lay on the bare ground and hoped that the following
day we could be able to find something other than raw cassava to eat. This is an example of
economics because the six of them had no where else to go so they had to sleep in abandoned
village in order to avoid rebels and they had to eat raw cassava because that was the only thing they
could find to eat. They took a very big chance because eating raw cassava is very poisonous and they
digestive system will convert it to cyanide poison and can easily die.

7.He would lend it to the boy for a few hours in exchange for toothpaste, soap, lunch, and so on.

things boys had that he didn t. He made a profit off his jersey and made a living. He did whatever
