Hurricane Andrew In South Florida
During a storm, when the wind reaches over 75 miles per hour, tropical cyclones forms over either
tropical or subtropical waters. Over the years, there has been over a handful of these hurricanes that
have been both costly and deadly. It was between August 24th and the 26th of 1992, when the second
costliest hurricane to take place in the United States of America history. The name of that expensive
storm is called Hurricane Andrew. Hurricane Andrew affected the areas of the Bahamas, Louisiana,
and South Florida.
Major damage was caused to the areas that Hurricane Andrew had passed through. South Florida
suffered the most damage due to the hurricane. The damage caused by Andrew completely changed
the landscape of South Florida. According to
The Importance Of Empress Theodora
Theodora came from a low class and Elizabeth came from a high class. Both women were great
leaders who both helped their countries. Theodora saved kingdom built homeless shelters, passed
that allowed women to own property, illegal to throw children out to die of exposure, built
hospitals, built bridges to ease transportation, changed laws dealing with marriage, improved social
status for women.First of all Empress Theodora was a woman of great importance who improved
conditions in her empire. For example, when she gave a speech to convince Justinian to stay and
fight, the empress persuaded them not to flee to the shame of safety but to fight with courage to the
death Almanac 6}.This demonstrates that Theodora persuaded Justinian to fight the
Rock Autobiography
Much of my childhood was spent with my head pointed towards the ground, scanning the earth
for treasures, or as other people refer to them: rocks. I was usually granted permission to bring as
many rocks as would fit into my father s deep pockets and the front pocket of my mother s
drawstring bag to take home with me from whatever. My grandpa, a professor and teacher of many
different subjects in the field of science, used to bring me to rock shows after taking notice of my
interest. He would teach me about different minerals as we walked past each cluttered booth and
explain igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rock types. He helped teach me about the science
behind something I already found interesting; this is where my fascination with
Assembly Line Olympics of History
Assembly Line Olympics of History Assembly lines are a big part of manufacturing in almost
every country in the world. Some work better than others, so an analytical breakdown would be
required to be able to tell which factories and countries are more effective than others, and what
they do to get that way. The function of organized work and division of labor has been around
since ancient times. On the timeline of organized work, the closer one gets to modern day, the
more organized labor becomes, and the more labor gets divided. It started with the three basic job
groups, food, child care, and shelter (Kranzberg, 1). Then, in places such as Greece, Rome,
Egypt, and Mesopotamia, labor was divided up by social classes. The rulers and nobility were the
ones overseeing the work and directing the economy, (Hannan, 2), while the priests held
knowledge of writing, reading, math, and the more scholarly subjects. Next down the line were
clerks and scribes, (Kranzberg, 2), and then merchants and traders underneath them who bought
and sold goods. Then there were peasants, slaves, and lastly prisoners of war who were forced to
work. We can see some similarities of this ancient hierarchy in modern day. The social/working
pecking order of ancient times hasn t faded. We have the government officials, the politicians, the
doctors lawyers, the modern merchants and salesmen, the working class, and even convicts who
work to earn credit or are even forced to work.
The Right Path To Success, By Chris Gardner
The Right Path to Success I often ponder over this thought: What makes a man so successful? Is
it attaining wealth, prosperity or fame? Though these answers are not wrong, we can t credit them
for success. Wealth, prosperity, and fame are all outcomes of success. But the real answer is that
behind every successful man is himself. In this statement, himself is referring to self esteem. This
means how a person acknowledges his own worth. A person with high self esteem, values
themselves and recognizes ways to continue and develop positively. People with high self esteem
are able to define their obstacles and work on solving them effectively. However, people with low
self esteem will have lack of confidence in their abilities, which... Show more content on

But the question is, how do you deal with hardships? Do you let unfortunate circumstances define
who you are? Or do you use your obstacles as a way to build up your self esteem and face the
situation positively? Dealing with hardships and believing in your ability to be successful are the
main lessons found in the novel, The Pursuit of Happiness by Chris Gardner. The entire novel
rotates around Chris s behaviour. From a young age, Chris experiences many hardships. One of
his significant childhood memories was living with his abusive father, Freddie. This had a very
negative and profound impact on Chris. He mentions, my self esteem had suffered a lot from
Freddie s daily attacks (Gardner 90). Although Chris was tormented a lot by his father, he still had
many great mentors to motivate him who helped him through his hard times. He describes that his
mother, Betty Jean, was a very positive source of inspiration for Chris. He mentions in the novel
that his mother always told him to, depend on yourself; the cavalry ain t coming (Gardner). His
mother had sown the seeds of self reliance on him since childhood. Other mentors included Uncle
Henry whom Chris looked up to, and his musical hero, James Brown. It
Malaria Mosquitoes Can Transmit Malaria
Malaria is spread to people by the female Anopheles mosquito. Only Anopheles mosquitoes can
transmit malaria. These mosquitos must have been infected through previous blood taken from an
infected person. When a mosquito bites an infected person, a small amount of blood is taken and
contains microscopic malariaparasites. (CDC, 2015) When the mosquito takes its next blood meal
from another person a week later, the parasites will be injected. The malaria parasite is found in
red blood cells of an infected person. It can be transmitted through an organ transplant, blood
transfusion, or shared use of needles or syringes contaminated with blood. Malaria can also be
transmitted from a mother to her unborn infant before or during delivery. This is known as
congenital malaria. Malaria is not contagious in any way. It cannot be spread from person to person
like a cold, and cannot be sexually transmitted. (CDC, 2015)
While the mosquito is feeding, the parasite is injected with the saliva of the mosquito. The parasite
first undergoes a round of merogony in the liver followed by multiple rounds of merogony in the
erythrocytes (CDC, 2015). Which means that an asexual process has begun that will increase the
number of infected cells by multiple cell divisions. The life cycle will contain other parasites that
are characterized by sexual replication and also the formation of the invasive stages. (Wiser, 2011)
The cycle begins with the liver Stage. The human infection begins when the
Who Is Fate In A Midsummer Night s Dream
In A Midsummer Night s Dream , by William Shakespeare, love is an act of fate. Love is fate due to
the fact that someone cannot control fate. Fate is something that is bound to happen no matter what.
Another reason love is fate is that true love never runs smoothly. No relationship will run perfectly
smooth because there are always complications in every relationship. Due to that, loveis an act of
fate.

Someone can t control fate. Someone is not able to control something that s bound to happen, just
like someone cant control the earth from spinning. Its bound to happen, and no one can control it.
Although I hate her, I ll not harm her so. (3.2.282). From the book A Midsummer Night s Dream , by
William Shakespeare, Lysander says he hates Hermia, whom he just was in love with. He hates her
due to a love potion he had been anointed with to love Hermia s best friend, Helena. This is an act of
fate because Lysander could not control or even know that he had been anointed with a love potion.
Therefore, Lysander s love was an act of fate.

Love is an act of fate because true love never runs smoothly. No relationship between lovers, or even
friends, will run perfectly smooth, there will always be arguments. The course of true love never did
run smooth (1.1.134). Lysander is saying that true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agency is a decision that someone makes to have the outcome that they want. O, take the sense,
sweet, of my innocence! Love takes the meaning in loves conference. (2.2.52). Lysander is saying
to Hermia that he loves her, which is an act of agency because he decides to love Hermia.
Although many people could agree with the fact that love is an act of agency, it is fate because you
can control agency, but cannot control fate. Lysander said himself that true love never runs smooth.
Therefore, love is not an act of agency because love never runs
Nazi Propaganda And The Holocaust
Nazi Propaganda The use of propaganda that the Nazis made to go against the Jews negatively
affected them because most bystanders believed in the propaganda which made the Jews seem not
human to other people. This further allowed the Nazis to dehumanize the Jews in a way where the
Jews had absolutely no freedom. It was very important for the Nazis to make sure that everyone
was noticing the propaganda. In order to accomplish that goal, they focused on starting at an early
age by placing it in children s books, Inside the book, the comparison to the mushroom is explained
when a mother tells her child, Just as it is difficult to distinguish between a poisonous mushroom, it
is difficult to distinguish between a good Jew and a lying , thieving
Team Enzyme Experiment
Team enzyme project report
Introduction
Enzymes are proteins that acts as biological catalysts, helping to catalyze chemical reactions. This is
means that an alternative reaction pathway of lower activation energy is provided during the speed
up reaction. Most enzymes are proteins and hence have a three dimensional structure of folded
polypeptide chains. Most enzymes have an optimal temperature and pH range in which they function
most effectively. If changes occur that remove the enzyme out of this range, it may not function
effectively. This principle forms the basis of this experimental design where the increasing
temperature results in the denaturing of the enzymes found in bromelain and thus lowering its
catalytic effectiveness. Bromelain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Using Devices Used For Chemical Reactions
In the material industry, energy efficiency, production cost, and sustainability have become very
important factors now a days. There is an increasing acceptance of microwave technique due to its
fast processing, simplicity, energy efficiency and cost effectiveness. It is a tool that not only
provides solutions to industry but also attracts materials chemists who are looking for better and
reliable methods to access new and potentially useful materials. Microwaves devices designed
specifically for chemical synthesisthus make things easier for industrial and academic chemists
alike.1 So, this technique becomes a widely accepted energy source for performing chemical
reactions.
Although microwave synthesis is relatively a modern technique, the first synthetic application was
reported in 1971.2 However, considerable attention in the field was observed in 1986 when
significant rate acceleration was achieved for reactions carried out in a conventional microwave
oven.3 This success aroused scientist to develop more advanced microwave devices designed for
chemical synthesis. Since then microwave is getting more common technique in organic synthesis
and solution phase chemistry.4,5,6 Organic reactions such as esterification, etherification,
hydrolysis, substitution reactions and Diels Alder reactions have been studied in the microwave
oven and relevant examples can be found in the literature. The application of microwave is not
restricted to organic synthesis as various aspects of
