College Is A Waste Of Time And Money
General Education It is likely that anyone doing research on the value of a general education (GE)
would run across one of the many Caroline Bird articles. In a 1975 article titled College is a Waste
of Time and Money Bird makes a logical argument against the benefits of education for the masses.
Despite arguing against a collegeeducation, Bird, on the other hand, held a master s degree and
taught at Vassar College in New York, the same school she graduated. According to U.S. News
World Report (2015), Vassar College s ranking in the 2015 edition of Best Colleges is National
Liberal Arts Colleges, 11. Its tuition and fees are $49,570 (2014 15), and Classes with fewer than
20 students [is] (63.7%). This indicates to me that Vassar is a prestigious college. All in all, I
cannot help wonder, is Bird as an elitist? First, she champions for the masses to be content with
careers as being domestic servants (1964, p. 6 8). Second, Bird claims more people could be
employed if American society were to reclassify a domestic position as one of equality with the
employer. I am not sure how daft she thinks her readers to be, but I do not know anyone who
perceives someone who scrubs a toilet to be of equal stature (less it is our own family member).
How many CEOs or school principals feel equally at home with their head in a commode or the
janitor in their building or school to be of equal stature? In Bird s case she writes, people should
aim lower to meet the social
Sports Media Vs Female Athletes Research Paper
Female Athletes vs. Sports Media Dating back to the late 1800s sports for women were viewed
more as recreational activities instead of competitive ones. As time went on women were
encouraged to not participate in any type of sports activities because it could be hazardous to their
bodies. This would begin the long battle for equal opportunities in sports for women. Female
athletes have been competing in sports since the late 1800s and early 1900s. With the establishment
of the Women s National Basketball Association (WNBA) in 1997, the Women s United Soccer
Association (WUSA) in 2001, Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) in 1950, and the
Women s Tennis Association (WTA) in 1973 female athletes were able to compete professionally....

For each magazine I analyzed the covers starting with January and ending with June for the six
month time frame. From January to June Sports Illustrated produced 46 issues of their magazine.
Out of those 46 issues there were only 5 women to grace the covers (5/46): 4 white women (4/46)
and 1 black woman (1/46). Of those women only 2 of them were athletes (2/46) while the other 3
were models. With that being said only 2 female athletes were placed on the covers and only 1 of
them was actually pictured in her sports uniform, while the other woman was placed on the cover
in a jumpsuit and deemed as fashionable. The next magazine I studied was Runner s World who
between January and June produced 8 issues. What I noticed about their magazine was on every
cover there was a woman present with one of the covers having a group shot of both men and
women running together. The other 7 covers had either two women running together or a woman
running by themselves. Each woman was portrayed actively in her sport and was given a feature
article inside the magazine; a more positive portrayal of female athletes. ESPN Sports Magazine
produced 21 issues between January and June and only one of them had female athletes on the
cover. Players in the WNBA were on the cover of the May 23 issue and were shown in their
uniforms dribbling or shooting a basketball. Even though these women were shown active in their
sport more covers could ve been dedicated to other women in their sports. Although each magazine
had few women on their covers Outside Magazine had none on their January to June issues. This
speaks volumes because the magazine is about outdoor life and by having no women on their covers
it implies that not a lot of women spend time outdoors. Often times women are given fair
opportunities at the covers of magazines when the Olympics come
Comparing Charcot s Opinions And Social Pressure
In the article, Opinions and Social Pressure , the author talks about perspective, minority vs.
majority, and social pressure. Everybody knows that the majority rules the minority. But, instead of
following everybody else, every person should analyze the situation and make their own decisions
on what they believe in. Social influences shape everybody in many ways and everyone should be
aware of it. Psychologists have done many studies and analyzed similar situations. Psychologist
studied hypnosis to try to figure out why humans are how they are. One psychologist, Jean Martin
Charcot, and two physicians, Hippolyte Bernheim and A.A. Liebault studied hypnosis. Gabriel
Tarde, a socialist, also observed it. Most people that were a part of their... Show more content on

He believed that only patients who were overly emotional could be looked at and fully hypnotized.
Two other physicians found out and tried to challenge him. Hippolyte Bernheim and A.A. Liebault
believed that they could put most people under hypnosis no matter what. Bernheim believed that the
quality of being inclined to accept and act on suggestions of others. After something was repeated so
much, you would jump on the bandwagon and join them. Gabriel Tarde believes that the truth is that
every man walks in their sleep or under hypnosis. The psychologists did studies and experiments on
college students. When observing them they would ask them to state their opinion on certain social
issues. They would give their answer then later tell them how larger groups and superiors felt on the
same social issue. The students would most likely change their stance on the social issue to match
their superiors. Many people questioned the study s results. They do not know if they are being
truthful or if they just wrote down that because that is what they believe in and want to be true.
Psychologists did another study with seven to nine male college students anonymously. They gave
them cards with lines on them and
Vikings Mistakes
In 844 AD, the Vikings first made an attack on the coast of Spain during the reign of king Ramiro |
of Asturias. A group of the Viking fleet surrounded the Asturias coast in the region of Gijón (Gegio)
(located north), though when they finally knew how powerfully this city was protected and
reinforced, they left. Later on, they arrived at the old lighthouse at Coruna (the Hercules tower), also
known as Farum Brigantium in that time. The Vikings tried to raid the city, but the local people
defended it bravely. King Ramiro assembled an army and defeated the Vikings in a furious battle.
Spanish historians reveled over their victory which they believed was very important. Nevertheless,
the Vikings left a disgraceful sight behind when they left.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They burned villages, churches and monasteries and left them in ashes. Their attacks didn t stop
even after the big defeat at the Hercules tower. They sailed around the Punta Nerija hill, west of
Coruna and sailed to the south where they looted and destroyed the coast. And then they finally
reached Lisbon and took control of the city and the areas surrounding it. Following that, they
sailed to Cádiz, Sidonia, and arrived in Sevilla on 25 September 844. Many evidence shows that
Sevilla fell on the 1st of Octobor after some vicious battles. The Vikings controlled Sevilla but not
the castle, they tried to set the mosque afire but were prevented from it, according to the Moors,
by god s protection. The area surrounding Sevilla was plundered and completely destroyed. The
Vikings brought damages and havoc upon the land, which had put such fear and terror into the
people of Andalusia as they called the Vikings the enemies of mankind . The people of Spain took
every possible precaution in order to protect the coast in the
Art of Msnsgement Accounting
Pushing the art of management accounting Despite the many strides the profession has made over
the years, some still believe that management accounting practices haven t taken as strong a hold in
organizations as they should. FCMA Alexander Mersereau describes the challenges that are slowing
the adoption of critical management accounting tools in broader business By Alexander Mersereau,
CMA, FCMA M anagement accounting practice has developed substantially over the past century,
but recent studies suggest that the practice is no longer making the strides that it once did. Unless
management accountants take a hard look at the effectiveness of current practice, this situation isn t
likely to improve. In some companies, radical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A similar study by Accenture/Economist Intelligence Unit reported a significant gap between
potential and actual practice.3 These indications of a slowing pace of management accounting
change may be due to a range of factors. In some cases, new management accounting tools aren t
adapted to organizational strategy or structure and can t be used. And in some cases, innovation has
failed due to implementation related factors. However, the main problems aren t technical or
structural; they lie in the need for a better management of the management accounting process itself.
Getting involved At the heart of the management accounting process is a communications system, or
a set of communications systems, that provide information to managers. The ability of management
accountants to improve the scope, timeliness or quality of the information they provide depends on
how well they understand and manage these systems. There are three main areas in management
accounting systems in which communication problems can occur, which are illustrated here using
the tale of The Three Monkeys. The three monkeys that most people know are Speak No Evil,
Hear No Evil and See No Evil. In this medieval Japanese illustration, a trio of monkeys is depicted
with one having his hands over his mouth, another covering his ears and a third his eyes. The
original use of this image seems to have been to illustrate wisdom. The three wise monkeys, as they
were referred to, counselled

Utopian Society
We all have dreamed of a perfect world and we all have our own ideas about how to achieve it.
Unfortunately, it s just not possible in the world we live in. But if a utopia could be attained, there
are elements that could represent a utopia.
RELIGIOUS BELIEFS
Everyone s center for everything they do would be God. God is already the definition of
perfection so everyone modeling their lives after Him would make sense. The Bible describes God
as compassionate, merciful, slow to anger, love, etc. Before sin, Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of
Eden which could be considered a utopia today. They spent time with God every day and lived their
lives based off of God. Because God was the center, Adam and Eve s relationship with each other and

Unfortunately, Perfectos is not Heaven. The way Perfectoans treat illness is primarily from natural
remedies. They tend to use the entirety of numerous plants and fruits to make teas, soups, masks,
and more to quickly heal any Perfectoans of their sickness. They may also use spices to clear sinuses
faster. Any illness that persists even after numerous remedies is then examined by the medical
doctors. From there they are prescribed medicine made from the labs. If the illness continues to
persist from there, the patient is put into extensive care in the Perfectos hospitals. If illness is
terminal, then the family and patient discuss whether they want to continue treatment, or slowly let
the patient pass. Since assisted death is a controversial topic, Perfectoan doctors do not perform
