4.1 SUMMARY
The care study is geared towards gaining knowledge and to develop a skill in the
management of schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder characterized by disturbance in
thought, perceptions, emotion and behavior. It often presents with symptoms such as
hallucination, delusions and cognitive impairments.
The condition typically includes positive symptoms (e.g. auditory hallucination
delusional thinking), negative symptoms (e.g. social withdrawal, flat affect) and
cognitive deficits.
In chapter two, past literature reviews were reviewed, anatomy and physiology of the
affected organ was discussed and detailed study of the disease condition was attained.
Chapter three of the study focus on the general nursing assessment and care plan of the
patient.
4.2 CONCLUSION
In conclusion the case highlights the complex and multifactorial nature of
schizophrenia emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis, comprehensive
treatment and ongoing support. While the patient showed initial improvement with
antipsychotic medication and psychosocial interventions, continual care is essential for
managing symptoms and promoting long-term stability.
4.3 SUGGESTION
Certain measures need to be Put in place to reduce the incident of schizophrenia
which include:
i. Encourage medication adherence and follow up
ii. Educate the patient and family to improve
understanding of the illness
iii. Establish a therapeutic communication
iv. Develop a crisis plan with the patient and
family
v. Work with psychiatrist psychologist social
workers and occupational therapist to provide
holistic care
