The classic book Lord of the Flies written by William Golding is a story of a group of schoolboys
being stranded on a tropical island during World War II. The three main boys are Jack, Ralph, and

protagonists slowly lose their morality and become wild savages. In the story there are three specific
pighunts the group has that canonize their steps to insanity. On the first hunt, three boys come
across a piglet caught in the vines. The boys attempt to killit, but the piglet escapes. During the
second hunt, a larger group of boys run into a wild boar, which also escapes. On the third hunt, the
groups hunters find a sow feeding her piglets. The boys slaughter the pig and put its head on a
pike. Ultimately, the piglet, boar, and sow hunt slowly show the boy s madness progress. This helps
to portray Golding s theme that there is a darkness in every man s heart.
The first hunt occurs soon after the boys are stranded on the island. Jack, Simon, and Ralph are

Can you imagine being sold to someone that consistently beats you every day and also makes you

Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn gives the readers a glimpse of the oppression of women worldwide.
Half the Sky is one of the most important books I have ever read. I would highly recommend this
book to everyone. The first three pages I read already had me in tears. What makes this book so
outstanding to me was reading and learning about all these different women and girls that has
suffered in a way I didn t think people were doing. Some of the stories were dealt with sex
trafficking, maternal death, attacks on women, and not sending girls to school because of income.
But the moving portrayals of the survivors improve the issues. Many of these survivors are
healthy and doing very well. I never thought most of these stories that was in the book was going
on in the world. First, in the beginning of the book, the authors sees the treatment of women as the
issue of today s Century. She stress that women oppression is the major issue of today s Century.
What was very interesting was how she compared the oppression of women to slavery. At first I was
unsure and disagreed with that statement. But after I read the first two stories, I changed my mind
and agreed 100 percent with the authors. Yes women inequality is the major issue of this century.
