be multiple storage location but one location cannot be assign multiple plant

5 MRP CONTROLLER
In SAP Production Planning (PP), An MRP controller is the person or responsible of group for managing
material requirements planning (MRP) for a specific set of material with in a plant or company. Their
role is to ensure the availability of materials needed for production by monitoring and managing
materials requirements and procurements activities

5.1 HERE’S MORE DETAILED EXPLANATION:


5.1.1 Material Availability: The core responsibility is to ensure that all necessary materials are
available when needed for production

5.1.2 MRP Monitoring: They monitor the MRP run results, identity potentials shortage, and take
the appropriate action.

5.1.3 Mater Data Maintenance: MRP controller are involved in maintaining relevant materials
mater data such as MRP view and setting which influence the planning process.

5.1.4 Exception Handling: They respond to exception massage generated by MRP, such as
shortage or overstock situations, or delays.

5.1.5 Procurement: They may be involved in the procurement process, including creating
purchase requisitions or production order to cover material shortages.

5.1.6 Information Systems: They utilize various information systems within SAP to stay
informed about the materials availability, stock level, and other relevant data.

5.2 IMPORTANCE OF MRP CONTROLLERS;


5.2.1 Effective MRP controllers contribute to efficient production planning and minimize
production disruptions due to materials shortage.

5.2.2 They help to optimize the inventory levels, reducing both overstocking and stock outs.

5.2.3 By managing materials effectively, they contribute to overall cost reduction and improved
production efficiency

6 CAPACITY PLANNING
In SAP capacity planning to help determine whether available capacity (like machines and workers) can
be handle the workload generated from planed or released production orders.
6.1 KEY COMPONENTS
6.1.1 Work Center: Where operations are performed (e.g, machine or production line)

6.1.2 Routing: Sequence of operations with time needed for each operations

6.1.3 Capacity Category: Machine and Labor etc.

6.1.4 Capacity Evolution/Leveling: Viewing overloads and making adjustments.

7 PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
Production schedule is the process of planning when and in what sequence production orders should be
executed-so that material, machine, and labor are available at the right time.
It ensure:
1. On-time delivery
2. Efficient use of resources
3. No bottlenecks or Idle time
SAP uses lead time scheduling to calculate start and finish dates for each operations in a production
orders.

7.1 HOW TO DO IT IN SAP (SIMPLIFIED STEPS)


7.1.1 Create routing (CA01): Define the steps and durations
7.1.2 Create work center order (CR01): Define the capacity and calendar

7.1.3 Create the production order (C001): Enter material, quantity plant

7.1.4 Schedule the order:


 In the order screen, click function->schedule->Automatic
 SAP calculate start /End date using routing and work center data.

7.1.5 Review Schedule:

 Use CM21 to see graphical schedule


 Adjust if needed (Drag –and-drop)

8 SAP CALENDAR
SAP calendar is used for the define working day and holiday, Weekends. There two main types.

8.1 HOLIDAY CALENDAR


Define the public holidays for a region or country.

8.2 FACTORY CALENDAR


Combines the holiday calendar and working day (e.g , Mon-Sat) and is assigned to plants, work centers
etc.

8.3 HOW TO SETUP A FACTORY CALENDAR (T-CODE: SCAL)


Step-1:Create a  Go to T-Code (SCAL)
 Select Public Holiday –Click change –Create
Public Holiday  Define
1. Name
2. Date
3. Type (fixed, floating, etc.)
Step-2:Create
Holiday Calendar  In SCAL , Select Holiday Calendar –Create
 Assign the public holidays you created
 Define validity period (e.g,2025 -2030)

Create a factory  In SCAL, Select factory calendar –Create


Calendar  Assign
(1) Holiday Calendar
(2) Working Calendar
(3) Validity Period
Assign a Plant
 Use T-Code (OX10)
0X10  Select your plant and assign the factory Calendar
