General Instructions:

- All questions are compulsory.

- Use of calculator is not permitted.

- Marks are indicated against each question.

- Questions are from NCERT textbook and CBSE-style format.

Section A: (1 x 6 = 6 marks)

1. If A = [1 2; 3 4], find A'.

2. Write the order of a matrix which has 6 elements.

3. Write the formula for dot product of two vectors a, b.

4. Find the value of determinant det [1 2; 3 4].

5. Write the condition for two vectors to be perpendicular.

6. Write the objective function in a linear programming problem.

Section B: (2 x 6 = 12 marks)

7. Find the inverse of A = [0 1; 1 0].

8. Find the angle between vectors a = i + 2j and b = i - j.

9. Find the adjoint of matrix [1 2; 3 4].

10. Find the unit vector in the direction of a = 3i - 4j.

11. Find the direction cosines of vector v = 2i + j + 2k.

12. Define feasible region in a linear programming problem.

Section C: (3 x 10 = 30 marks)

13. Solve: det [x 2 3; 1 x 4; 2 1 x] = 0

14. Show that the points A(1,2,3), B(4,5,6), C(7,8,9) are collinear.

15. Find the area of the triangle with vertices A(1,1), B(4,2), C(2,4) using determinant method.
16. If a = i + 2j + k, b = 2i - j + 3k, find a - b.

17. Find the equation of the line passing through (1,2,3) and parallel to v = i - 2j + k.

18. A line passes through origin with direction ratios 2, -3, 4. Write its vector and Cartesian equations.

19. Find the distance of the point (2, 3, 4) from the plane x + 2y + 2z = 7.

20. Solve the following LPP graphically:

Maximize Z = 3x + 5y

Subject to:

x + y - 6,

x - 4,

y - 3,

x, y - 0

21. Find the angle between lines with direction cosines (1, 2, 2) and (2, 1, -2).

22. Find the equation of a plane through point (1, -1, 2) and perpendicular to vector 2i - j + 3k.

Section D: (4 x 8 = 32 marks)

23. Find the inverse of matrix A = [2 1; 1 1] using row operations.

24. Prove that a = i + j + k and b = 2i + 3j + 4k are not perpendicular.

25. Find the shortest distance between the lines:

r- = i + 2j + 3k + -(2i - j + k)

and

r- = 2i + 3j + k + -(i + j - 2k)

26. If f(x) = {(x- - 4)/(x - 2), x - 2; 4, x = 2}, check continuity at x = 2.

27. Find dy/dx if y = 1 / (x + -x).

28. Differentiate tan-(2x / (1 - x-)).

29. If y = -(tan x), find dy/dx.

30. Find the equation of the line passing through points (2, -1, 1) and (1, 1, -2) in vector and Cartesian form.
