Abstract:
This research proposal focuses on combining computational methods and machine learning
(ML) to enhance Software Quality Assurance (SQA) processes, particularly in defect
prediction and testing optimization. Traditional SQA methods, which rely heavily on manual
testing and rule-based automation, often struggle to keep up with the complexity and rapid
changes in modern software systems. This study proposes using scientific computing,
numerical analysis, and stochastic modeling to create predictive models that can detect
defects early, assess software quality in real-time, and optimize test cases automatically. By
bridging the gap between data science and software engineering, this research aims to
develop adaptive solutions that not only predict defects but also provide actionable insights
for improving software quality. This work aligns with the PhD program "Computational
Methods and Mathematical Models for Science and Finance" by exploring data-driven
strategies for software engineering.
