Social Science Action Plan

For this assignment, I am supposed to make a informational chart on the

environment, the guidelines are given below:

1. Create an informational chart or poster about the

environment:
2. Define environment (natural and human-made parts)
3. Explain the importance of protecting the environment
4. Add 3 environmental problems (like pollution,
deforestation, and climate change) and how we can help
Use images, keywords, and short descriptions

● Be creative with colour and layout presentation Tips:

● Be neat and organized
● Use headings and bullet points
● Use coloured pencils, pens, or markers
● Avoid full paragraphs – keep it visual and simple

This Guidelines helps me with the charts

Research:

● The environment has two main parts: the natural environment,

which includes things like air, water (rivers, lakes, oceans), land
(mountains, soil, forests), and living things (plants, animals,
people), all working together to support life. Environments contain
biotic and abiotic factors. The abiotic environment contains the
lithosphere, hydrosphere and the atmosphere. Abiotic factors play
a large role in determining the types and traits of organisms that
inhabit a given ecosystem. For example, air temperature, soil pH
(The measure of how alkaline your soil is) and the availability of
freshwater. The biotic environment consists of the biosphere, the
“zone of life” composed of living things as well as their products,
remains, and wastes. Interactions among organisms are also biotic
factors; they include competition (for food, water, mates, and
space), predation, and symbioses such as parasitism. Also,
processes such as decomposition, reproduction, photosynthesis,
and disease affect the biotic environment.

● The human-made environment, which includes things created

by people such as buildings, roads, vehicles, machines, farms, and
factories. They also include landfills and exports to other
countries.A human-made environment is an environment that has
been created or modified by humans to serve their needs and
purposes. This includes everything built or altered by humans,
such as buildings, roads, cities, and even aspects of the natural
world that have been transformed. For example, buildings, roads,
bridges, parks, clothing, and even the modified landscapes of
cities are all examples of human-made environments.

● We should protect the environment because it gives us clean air

and water, helping us stay healthy and free from diseases.
Protecting the environment is crucial because it's our home and
provides essential resources like clean air, water, and food. Good
soil and balanced nature help grow the food we eat. Protecting
animals and plants keeps nature in balance.A healthy environment
also helps control the climate and prevents extreme weather. By
using resources wisely, we make sure future generations have
what they need. Lastly, it supports jobs in farming, tourism, and
other industries, helping the economy grow.
● Three major environmental problems are pollution, deforestation,
and climate change. Pollution makes air, water, and land dirty
through waste and harmful chemicals, Pollution contributes to
respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, infections, and even
cancer. Air pollution is estimated to cause millions of premature
deaths globally each year. Contaminated water can lead to
diseases like cholera and gastrointestinal disorders. Noise Pollution
can cause hearing loss, stress, and other health problems. We can
help by using reusable items, not burning trash, and planting
trees. Enforcing noise standards and regulations can help curb
excessive noise from sources like loudspeakers, horns, and
industrial machinery.
● Deforestation, the cutting down of forests, destroys animal homes
and increases carbon dioxide. Trees and plants stabilize the soil
with their roots, preventing erosion by wind and water. When
forests are cleared, soil becomes vulnerable to erosion, leading to
landslides, flooding, and loss of fertile farmland. Deforestation can
bring humans into closer contact with wildlife, potentially
increasing the risk of zoonotic diseases (diseases that can spread
from animals to humans). We can stop it by planting trees, using
recycled paper, and supporting forest protection groups.
● Climate change causes unusual weather due to pollution from
burning fuels; we can reduce it by saving electricity, using public
transport, and choosing clean energy like solar or wind. Climate
change can exacerbate existing health issues and create new ones,
such as heatstroke, respiratory problems, and the spread of
infectious diseases.
