General Instruction:

1. This Question Paper has 5 Sections A-E.


2. Section A has 20 MCQs carrying 1 mark each.
3. Section B has 5 questions carrying 02 marks each.
4. Section C has 6 questions carrying 03 marks each.
5. Section D has 4 questions carrying 05 marks each.
6. Section E has 3 case based integrated units of assessment (04 marks each) with sub-parts of the values of
1, 1 and 2 marks each respectively.
7. All Questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice in 2 Qs of 5 marks, 2 Qs of 3 marks and 2
Questions of 2 marks has been provided. An internal choice has been provided in the
2 marks questions of Section E
8. Draw neat figures wherever required. Take π =22/7 wherever required if not stated.

21. In the given figure, CB || QR and CA || PR. If AQ = 12 cm, AR = 20 cm, PB = = CQ 15 cm, calculate PC and
BR.

22. In given figure, AB is the diameter of a circle with centre O and AT is a tangent. If ∠AOQ = 580, find
∠ATQ.
23. Evaluate :

24. A box contains 12 balls of which some are red in colour. If 6 more red balls are put in the box and a ball
is drawn at random the probability of drawing a red ball doubles than what it was before. Find the number
of red balls in the bag.
OR
Two different dice are tossed together. Find the probability:
(i) that the number on each die is even.
(ii) that the sum of numbers appearing on the two dice is 5

25. In the given figure, G is the mid-point of the side PQ of ∆PQR and GH || QR. Prove that H is the mid-
point of the side PR of the triangle PQR.

Questions 26 to 31 carry 3 marks each

26. If α and β are the zeroes of the polynomial f (x) = x2 – 4x – 5 then find the value of α2 + β2

27. Solve graphically : 2x – 3y + 13 = 0; 3x – 2y + 12 = 0

A 6 m high tree cast a 4 m long shadow. At the same time, a flag pole cast a shadow 50 m long. How long is
the flag pole?
29. In a ∆PQR, right-angled at Q, QR = 9 cm and PR − PQ = 1 cm. Determine the value of sin R + Cos R

30. A solid is in the shape of a hemisphere surmounted by a cone. If the radius of hemisphere and base
radius of cone is 7 cm and height of cone is 3.5 cm, find the volume of the solid.
OR
A solid sphere of diameter 6 cm is dropped in a right circular cylindrical vessel partly filled with water. The
diameter of the cylindrical vessel is 12 cm. If the sphere is completely submerged into water, by how much
will the level of water rise in the cylindrical vessel?

31. Find HCF and LCM of 16 and 36 by prime factorization and check your answer.

SECTION-D
Questions 32 to 35 carry 5M each

32. Find the ratio in which the point (-3, k) divides the line segment joining the points (-5, -4) and (-2, 3).
Also find the value of k.

33. Sides of a right triangular field are 25 m, 24 m and 7 m. At the three corners of the field, a cow, a
buffalo and a horse are tied separately with ropes of 3.5 m each to graze in the field. Find the area of the
field that cannot be grazed by these animals.

34. The arithmetic mean of the following frequency distribution is 53. Find the value of k

The following distribution gives the weights of 60 students of a class. Find the mean and mode weights of
the students

35. PB is a tangent to the circle with centre O. AB is a chord of length 24 cm at a distance of 5 cm from the
centre. It the tangent is length 20 cm, find the length of PO.
SECTION-E (Case Study Based Questions)
Questions 36 to 38 carry 4M each

36. Case Study-1


A fashion designer is designing a fabric pattern. In each row there are some shaded squares and unshaded
triangles.

Based on the above, answer the following questions:


i. Identify A.P. for the number of squares in each row.
ii. Identify A.P. for the number of triangles in each row.
iii. (a) If each shaded square is of side 2 cm, then find the shaded area when 15 rows have
been designed.
OR
(b) Find total number of triangles in 'n' number of rows. Hence, find S10.

37. Case Study-2


Statue of Unity : It is a colossal statue of Indian statesman and independence activist Sardar Vallabh bhai
Patel, who was the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home minister of independent India.

Patel was highly respected for his leadership in uniting the 562 princely states of India to form the single
Union of India. It is located in the state of Gujarat and it is the world’s tallest statue.
(i) For a person standing 240 m from the center of the base of the statue, the angle of elevation to the top
of the statue is 450. How tall is the statue?
(ii) A cop in helicopter near the top of the statue, notices a car wreck some distance from the statue. If the
angle of depression from the cop’s eyes to the wreck is 600, how far away is the accident from the centre of
base.
(iii) (a)The angle of elevation of the top of the statue from a point A which is 100 m away from the foot of
the statue is 300. Find the height of the statue.

OR
(b) A person 1.5 m tall looks at the top of the statue and the angle elevation is 450. If the height of the
statue is 182 m. Find the distance between the person and the statue.

38. Case study-3


Two friends, Neha and Sneha, decided to play the game pockets billiard on their holiday. This game is
similar to the carom game, except but it has 6 holes on the board to strike the balls into it. This game
consists of 15 numbered color balls, and 1 cue ball, which is used to strike the other 15 numbered color
balls to the holes. These balls are arranged in the pyramid form. The first player strikes them using the
white ball(cue ball) to break the formation and then tries to sink the ball into the holes. Each player takes
alternate turns to strike the balls.

(Note: Ignore the cue ball while taking the total number of balls.)

I. If Neha plays first, then the probability that she successfully sinks the ball numbered 10 is____________
II. If Sneha plays secondly without replacing the ball 10, then the probability that Sneha sink the ball
numbered 13 is_____________________
III. (a) The probability that Neha sinks a ball is an odd number is ____________
