Look at a crystal hardness to decide the best
care. Soft is rated between a 1-2 in hardness,
medium is rated between a 3-5 in hardness and
hard is rated between 6-9. The diamond is the
only mineral rated a 10, it is the hardest gem

Soft (1-2) - Soft crystal can be scratched by a
fingernail and are very fragile.
Soft crystal cannot be submerged or left
in water.
Cleanse with liquid cleanser can tarnish
the crystal in the long haul.
Can break down quickly if not taken
care of properly.
A mist cleanser is okay, but needs to be
done at a distance.
Place in pouch if you put in your
purse/pocket to protect it.
Medium (3-5) - Crystals that can be rated
between 3-5 in hardness can be scratched by a
