Dolma ling help
Dates Sep 03, 2024 to Sep 03, 2024
Activity Description We visited Dolma ling soup kitchen during our senior retreat, and helped out in
various ways. I helped cut laminate for the shelves with other classmates, and
collect trash from the yard, managing to collect a full bag. I also mopped the
floors of the eating area

trash I collected
CAS Question
Investigation: What are my areas of interest and growth?
I just needed to help clean up the area, so not much growth occurs as i didn't learn anything new? For the laminate shelf covers
however, i wish to make them fit well and be functional
Preparation: What is my plan? What are my roles? What is my responsibility?
My responsibility is to clean up as much trash from the garden as possible. For the covers, i plan on measuring out the space needed
to cover, and then cutting it out on the laminate.
Action: How will I implement my plan?
Use gloves and a trash bag, and go around collecting what I see. For the shelf covers, i will do as the plan said
Reflection: What happened? How did I feel and what did I think? What are my questions?
The cleanup went well, and i collected a whole bag of trash, whereas the shelf covers were more complicated, as the laminate was
crumpled and uneven, making the measurements inaccurate and ill fitting, and needing recutting to fit.

A while ago, I chose a few succulent and jade plant leaves to propagate on tissues, and recently, they started sprouting
leaves and roots, so I repotted them into cups, to recycle them, and punched holes ath the bottom for drainage. I also

I checked on the plant cuttings from last time and changed their water, then continued to plant those that have
sprouted roots, thich included a coleus, and some other plants. I have not managed to propagate the jade plant, and i
believe it was due to excessive moisture that it rotted.
MONDAY, 23 OCTOBER 2023 ETHICS OF CHOICES & ACTIONS
I determined suitable plants and took plant cuttings from all over the school to start with plant propagation and growth
to help for future selling and spreading awareness.

We made baloon paper mache leaves for a tree shelf design oat school, which two people have never done before,
therefore i taught them how to start with paper mache, and how to best usit as not to break the paper, which was thin,
with a bit of glue, but not soaked enough to make it heavy and tear the paper.
CAS Question
Investigation: What are my areas of interest and growth?
I hope to help grow more plants for the school to improve air quality, as Ulanbaatar's air pollution is very bad.
Preparation: What is my plan? What are my roles? What is my responsibility?
I plan on growing plants from cuttings, letting them root in water and then planting them in paper cups from the coffee shop to reuse
them.
Action: How will I implement my plan?
I will mostly grow tradescantia and coleus plants, as they grow fast, and are easy to propagate from cuttings. They are also easy to
care for, and look very nice and colourful.
Reflection: What happened? How did I feel and what did I think? What are my questions?
The school has a very small variety of plants, and a gnat fly problem, especially in the greenspace, where the close contact of a lot of
plants spreads them quickly. I also noticed that not many people can tell when to water plants, as many of them were either dry or
overwatered.
Demonstration: How do I show what I learned?
This was not a learning cca, this was to help grow plants, I believe the goal was achieved, as many new plants were propagated and
planted, mainly a purely green variety of spiderwort.

We made a salt solution and then measured it's charge in volts, by plugging it into a voltmeter, and creating a parallel

multiple people were needed to hold them together so that it would work.
MONDAY, 23 OCTOBER 2023 CHALLENGE & SKILLS COLLABORATIVE SKILLS
we were to build a structure of only tape and paper, that was supposed to be as long as possible off of a table without
touching the ground. The structure could only use 4 papers and it could not be taped to a table. I learned that in this
case, tubes are the best shapes to use, as they are harder to bend than flat paper, and a counterweight also must be
used so that the structure does not tip over and fall. We built this in groups, and some people made the tubes, and
some helped build the structure. Our team managed to build a sctucture that was about 120cm off the table.

Portrait drawing at School fair
Dates Sep 16, 2023 to May 31, 2024
Activity Description During the school Fun fair, I drew portraits of people for a price, where all
profits made were donated to the dolma ling soup kitchen. During this activity, I
greatly improved my portrait drawing from real life, and learned how to draw
3/4 face portraits. As i had a large variety of people come for portraits, I got to
practice drawing for about 3 hours straight. I also learned how to draw
different visual traits such as shapes of eyes, hair, and face shapes

CAS Question
Investigation: What are my areas of interest and growth?
I was interested in volunteering for the school fair because it gave me a wonderful opportunity to practice real life portrait drawing,
and raise money for the dolma ling soup kitchen. It gave me the chance to learn drawing facial features, which is extremely hard
without references, and i got to practice drawing faster than i normally do while improving lineart by making it less shaky, and
controlling the thickness to suit my needs.
Preparation: What is my plan? What are my roles? What is my responsibility?
I plan to join every other school fair to draw portraits for raising money to dolma ling soup kitchen. This makes me responsible for
showing up, and drawing the best i can, so that the final product is liked by the customers.
Action: How will I implement my plan?
When there is an announcement about a school fair, i will request that i am allowed to draw portraits for donating money.

On saturday 16th november, I went to the swimming pool session from 1:30pm, and finished 2:15pm. I managed to
swim 22 laps is about 30 minutes, and spent the othe 15 playing "volleyball" in the water. It was harder to swim the
laps, and i was slower, most likely due to not swimming for multiple months, and i lacked a long stretching. However,
the swim was very relaxing and helped me focus on studies afterwards. I didnt manage to reach my goal, but will
continue to improve.
THURSDAY, 30 MAY 2024 COMMITMENT & PERSEVERANCE
Last time I swam was in april, not too sure of the date. I started 15 minutes after my sign up time, and ended 50
minutes later with 41 laps. All previous laps were breaststroke, as that is the swimming style that helps me relax my
back the most. The times i missed out on the other swimming times was due to holidays, a burn and periods. After
april, it was due to more exams.
THURSDAY, 28 MARCH 2024 STRENGTH & GROWTH
Last week i swam 40 laps, 40c25m, swimming 1km overall in about 38 minutes. this proves my improvement mainly in
focus, but the personal strength growth was still not seen much, as I was still very tired afterwards. This week I was
unable to attend due to personal health issues
THURSDAY, 07 MARCH 2024 STRENGTH & GROWTH
On sunday 3.3, I did exactly 40 laps, 40x25m, swimming 1km overall in about 1 hour 15 minutes. During this time, I was
alright, but a while after finishing, I noticed I was very wobbly and tired. Therefore, i should improve my stamina by
swimming repeatedly, for at least 30 laps each time.

whereas on sunday I was a bit sore from the previous day, and I spend some time swimming with friends.
CAS Question
Investigation: What are my areas of interest and growth?
I wish to gain more physical endurance and be more active, as I have not been doing sports for about a year.
Preparation: What is my plan? What are my roles? What is my responsibility?
I hope to go swimming at least for an hour every weekend.
Action: How will I implement my plan?

The fourth class occured on February 6th 2025, with 4 people attending, the theme was yet again animals of choice.
Most students managed to get very close to finishing/completely finishing, with Jasmina helping explain color mixing,
which helped divide the amount of help needing to be given. The most help needed was by the boy drawing the
blobfish. This was due to colors mostly, as he started off with a far too bright pink , which we later fixed to a more
peachy color.

struggled to mix the colors, i suggested she use opposite colors to make the paint look more natural, which worked. We

MONDAY, 06 JANUARY 2025 CHALLENGE & SKILLS COLLABORATIVE SKILLS INITIATIVE & PLANNING
First class of watercolor cca in december 2024 occurred on thursday 5, and 3 people came. the theme decided for was
horror??? one kid drew scream, one carnage from venom and the last one drew a hellcat. What i noticed was that their
sketching was very slow, not leaving much time for the actual drawings, and their color theory was a bit bad too, as the
colours were often too bright. therefore, i will focus on speeding up the sketching, and the color mixing. Additionally, i
would like to teach them how to layer colors, express contrast and depth better. I helped with the coloring how i could,
but one of the kids was a bit reluctant, rather doing his own painting without wanting my help.

FRIDAY, 24 MAY 2024 CHALLENGE & SKILLS COLLABORATIVE SKILLS COMMITMENT & PERSEVERANCE
5. Fifth CCA on 2nd of may, 2024
This time, we decided to draw houses or constructions. Kora and Simon chose a haunted house, so a reference was
picked. Tsasanzaya decided to do a simple blocky suburb. Kora showed a slight improvement in shading around the
moon, along with the improved details. She asked for help with the perspective, which was a nice surprise to see her
challenging herself with a building that wasn't entirely from the front- the towers, Simon did not do too well on this
image, as he did not have enough time to finish the colouring, and only slightly referenced the haunted house. i think
the grey behind the tower was supposed to be a wall with square turrets. Tsasanzaya used mainly grey in her work, and
was finished earlier, however did not wish to add details or shading. she did however add more of the meme chicken
nugget, and a a funny quote, and enjoyed painting it. During the CCAs we all sat at one table, and conversations were
frequently tied to what we were painting, therefore the students often gave each other ideas to improve each other's
work.

4. Fourth CCA on April 25th 2024
Jasminka dropped out of the course as she has not been since the first lesson without a apology/excuse note, and
Tsasanzaya, Simon and Kora came. This lesson was on people, both real and fictional. The students have some issues
with understanding different shades of skin color, nevertheless they tried to shade them to the best of their abilities.
Kora and tsasanzaya(picture unavailable) chose a classmate, while Simon chose a waluigi character from a game. As i
noticed their face drawing skills were not ideal, I showed them a simple way of drawing each part of the face, along with
the face shape, and although Kora used the suggested eye drawing a bit, the others stuck to the original sketches. This
time, the paper did not rip as much from water overuse, and there were also barely any color bleeds, unlike last time.

3. Third CCA on 18th of april 2024
Yet again, 3 student came- Kora, Simon and Tsasanzaya. This lesson, the topic we decided on was memes, and
therefore we used reference pictures for better accuracy. Kora chose the among us crewmate, Simon chose pepe, and
Tsasanzaya chose a roblox face chicken nugget. I painted a trash bag with legs. An issue when painting that arose was
that the students added too much water to the paper, then proceeded to rub more paint on it, overworking the parer. A
suggestion I made was for them to first mix the colours on a pallet rather than straight on the paper, and make a color
swatch of it. Each of the students took inspiration from each other, and when they finished with their individual
paintings, they decided to add a roblox face to the sides
FRIDAY, 05 APRIL 2024 CHALLENGE & SKILLS COMMITMENT & PERSEVERANCE INITIATIVE & PLANNING
2. Second CCA on 28.th of march 2024
3 students came- Kora, Simon and Tsasanzaya. We drew foods, starting off with macarons, then with fruits such as
strawberries, cherries, and oranges. This was Simon's first cca as he was missing the previous one, so he got the same
introduction to the basic watercolor techniques as the students prior. Jasminka was feeling sick. The students made an
improvement mainly in being more careful with shading, and there were less spills when two colors met. Due to the
texturing of macarons, we practiced both shading, smooth surfaces, and bumpy surfaces. I draw with the others, and
from next lesson, I will try uploading some of my and the student's works. The cca on 4th of april will be canceled due
to me having HL block
THURSDAY, 28 MARCH 2024 CHALLENGE & SKILLS INITIATIVE & PLANNING
1. First CCA on 21st of march 2024
The CCA has 4 students overall, with one not being able to make it. The initial lesson was used to introduce basic
Janka Vytopilova - CAS

watercolor techniques, where each was introduced and shown how to use. the rest of the lesson was spent with trying
them out. The cca will follow the routine that we each paint a picture on a topic decided the prior lesson. As this was
the first lesson, we decided on some plants. There were two trees, and a yellow flower. I painted a lily of the valley. The
next lesson was decided to be food themed.
CAS Question
Investigation: What are my areas of interest and growth?
I wish to better my communication skills by teaching kids watercolors, through examples and practice. During the lessons, i wish to
provide my assistance and recommendations to the kids to help them improve, and fix their mistakes when painting.
Preparation: What is my plan? What are my roles? What is my responsibility?
As the leader of the watercolor activity, my role is to guide and support participants in expressing their ideas through painting, while
teaching them various watercolor techniques. I aim for everyone to show some improvement by the end of the CCA. However, I
understand that significant progress may be limited if they do not practice much outside of class, as five paintings alone might not be
enough to achieve drastic improvement.
Action: How will I implement my plan?
Every thursday we will have class unless I have a DP block, and decide on a theme to draw to. This will give the students a certain
range of things to draw to practice some variety, and make sure that there will not be repeated pictures.
Reflection: What happened? How did I feel and what did I think? What are my questions?
2023-2024 DP1 cca reflection:
Leading the watercolor activity was an engaging experience, as the students showed enthusiasm in experimenting with different
techniques. Some quickly understood blending and layering, while others needed more guidance.
2024-2025 DP2 cca reflection:
The second session was more challenging because the group was younger and had a shorter attention span. While they were
excited to paint, they were less focused on technique and more interested in freely mixing colors.
