4. An aeroplane takes off at an angle of 30° to the horizontal. If the component
of its velocity along the horizontal is 250 km/h, what is the actual velocity? Find
also the vertical component of the velocity.
5. If A= 3i +2j and B = i-2j+3k, find the magnitudes of A + B and A – B.
6. Find the unit vector parallel to the resultant of the vectors A=2i-6j-3k and

14. The position of a particle is given by
r = 3.0t i + 2.0 t2 j + 5.0 k
where t is in seconds and the coefficients have the proper units for r to be in
metres. (a) Find v(t) and a(t) of the particle. (b) Find the magnitude and
direction of v(t) at t=3.0s.
15. A projectile is fired horizontally with a velocity of 98 m/s from the top of a
hill 490 m high. Find (i) the time taken to reach the ground (ii) the distance of
the target from the hill and (iii) the velocity with which the projectile hits the
ground.
16. A body is projected with a velocity of 30 m/s at an angle of 30° with the
vertical. Find the maximum height, time of flight and the horizontal range.
17. What is the angular velocity of a second hand and minute hand of a clock.

constant speed of 10 m/s. Calculate its (i) angular speed (ii) frequency of

highest point of a projectile path?
21. A stone tied to the end of a string is whirled in a circle. If the string breaks,
the stone flies away tangentially. Why?
