Printer correction signs
Proof reader’s mark also called printers correction signs are marks used when amendments have to
be made in typewritten or handwritten work of which fair copy is to be typed. These marks indicate
problems in the text and suggest solutions. Correction marks come in two ways which are
abbreviations and abstract symbols. Below are some correction signs.
Proof Reading
This is a process whereby a good typist check and carefully read the document typed to ensure it’s
error-free.
Proofreading stands for:
P – Practice your proof-reading skills
R – Re-read if necessary
O – Only be satisfied with perfection
O – One error not corrected is too many

Techniques development in keyboarding
When a learner is acquiring the skill of typing, practicing it in a set determined way is a must
because only that is the way to learn skills can only be learned that way. Our brain learns patterns
and repetitions when they are repeated numerous times exactly in the same pattern. Therefore, if
the trainee learns the right typing techniques from the beginning, he definitely acquires the skill in a
reasonable period of time.
CONTENT 2
1. Maintain erect posture during typing
Speed typing is essentially physical work and being able to type for longer periods without getting
tired counts for productivity. An erect posture that leads to maximum comfort during typing is a
must. Maintaining a good posture also keeps aches and pains away that may become long term
problems.
2. Deploy touch typing
Every typing lesson begins with the instruction of touch typing. You should spend the least time
touching the keys of the keyboard. The keys should be tapped as quickly as possible within a fraction
of a second. For gaining high speed of typing it is very important to deploy touch typing.
3. Use correct fingering
This is the foremost of all the essential or so-called secret keyboarding techniques. No doubt that
one can develop his own method of hitting the keys, but typing is definitely fastest if the standard
way of fingering is followed. That is because when using the standard method more keys can be hit
in any span of given time.
4. Put the habit of looking only at the screen
Pick and hunt typists have the habit to look at the keyboard most of the time during typing. This is
the reason they never learn real speed typing. Speed typing can be learned only by following the
practice of looking only at the screen. Of course, it is not easy to attain easily in the first go but you
can go to that level with practice. Being able to type and erase without looking at the keyboard is
the sign of a learned and skilled typist.
5. Press non-letter keys properly
While there are rules for pressing the letter keys there are also rules for non-letter keys like tab,
enter, shift and backspace etc. The enter and backspace keys should be pressed by the little finger of
the right hand and the keys like tab, shift or control have to be hit by the little finger of the left hand.
Shift key being both on right and left can be hit by either of the hands.
6. Keep a pace in typing
At any time while learning typing it is very important to keep a pace or rhythm in typing. This
enables to achieve speed in considerable time. Pushing your limits for speed but at the same time
keeping a pace in the speed you have achieved in typing is a real must.

Speed development and accuracy skills
The most essentials skills to have been discontinued from your school days is typing. Although
people tend to underestimate the value of typing faster and accurately, it is one of the most
fundamental skills required in any field you wish to pursue.
Be it in writing emails, writing a blog post, or writing copy, typing is one of the most essential skills.
As a blogger, typing faster and better will save you a tremendous amount of time spent
proofreading your article for errors and crafting the article itself.
While the average typing speed is around 38-40 words per minute, the world record for the fastest
typing speed is held by Stella Pajamas who struck a whopping 216 wpm (words per minute) on an
IBM electric typewriter!
Typing accurately is as important as typing fast. There is a speed-accuracy trade-off that needs to be
considered when you begin practising typing faster.
Faster is not always better if your accuracy gets compromised in the process. Aiming for a faster and
accurate typing speed is essential. Finishing that assignment, blog article or just an email quickly and
saving yourselves some amount of time in the process is a great way to make room for other tasks.
CONTENT 2
Here are a few of the reasons why learning how to type fast is so beneficial in general life and in
work
Save time
Typing is something most of us will have to do a lot of in our jobs. Whether you work in an office or
not, you will probably end up having to type on a computer keyboard on a weekly or even daily
basis. It stands to reason that the faster you can type, the more time you will save.
When you are tasked with typing up a report, or even when you have to send an email, if you can do
so quickly while remaining accurate, you could end up saving a lot of time.
Be more productive
Everyone is looking for ways to be more productive both in the workplace and at home, and typing
faster is a simple way to get more done. If you learn to double the speed you type, you can
essentially get twice as much done in the same space of time.
Employers might even want to ensure their employees are trained up in touch-typing due to the
productivity boost it could lead to.
Improve your posture
Posture may not be the first thing you think about when you decide to increase your typing speed,
but it can certainly benefit.
No matter whether you can touch type or not, you will still spend a lot of your time typing in almost
any office-based role. Everyone knows that sitting down at your desk for long periods of time
without a break is bad for your posture, so it makes sense to reduce the amount of time you sit
down. If a lot of your time sitting at your desk is spent typing, you might be able to improve your
posture and your health by increasing your typing speed. This will mean less time spent typing at
your desk, and that will lead to more time spent standing up and stretching so as not to hurt your
back, neck, and shoulders.
When you learn to touch type, you will also learn about correct typing posture. It’s very important
to sit up properly in order to stop your neck from becoming stiff and prevent your wrists from
causing you pain. You will become more aware of correct posture when you learn to type properly,
and you also won’t have to keep looking down at your keyboard, which gives your neck a break and
reduces aching.
Improve your focus
Another benefit of learning to type faster is that you will not have to look at the keyboard and think
about where your fingers are going. Once you are typing fast, you will be able to look directly at the
screen, and your fingers will type without you even thinking about the movements.
This means that you will be able to improve your focus. Every time you look down and try to find a
key, you are losing concentration, so you will be able to focus more on what you are trying to say
than the actual letters that you are typing. So, learn how to type properly and improve your focus,
which will lead to a better flow and your thoughts won’t be interrupted as much.

2. Demonstrate the use of different method of paragraphing.
CONTENT 1.
Methods of paragraphing
Blocked
Indented
Hanging
A paragraph is a clear division of a piece of writing. It focusses usually on a single subject matter and
is separated from other parts of the writing by a new line of indentation.
METHODS OF PARAGRAPH
There are three types of paragraphs namely blocked, indented and hanging.
BLOCKED: Paragraphs written in a blocked style are the ones with the first line flush with left margin.
All lines of the paragraph starts from the beginning of the left margin. It is simply a style convention.
The first line is not indented and the subsequent paragraphs are separated by a double space
between them. For example,
It was a dark evil “wave” that almost killed him, but for Austalian surfer Kerby Brown, riding this 40
foot monster in his own backyard was one of the highlights ofhis surfing career.
The 25-year-old surfaced the enormous break at an outdoor reef in the Southern Ocean
“somewhere between Margaret River and South Austalia” on the southwest coast of Western
Australia last August.
INDENTED: Indentation determines the distance of the paragraph from either the left or the right
margin. Within the margin, you can increase or decrease the indentation of a paragraph or groups of
paragraphs. For example.
Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria. It is located in the Centre of Nigeria, within the Federal capital
Territory (FCT). Abuja is planned city and was built mainly in the 1980s.
Abuja’s geography is defined by Aso rock, a 400-metre monolith left by water erosion.
The presidential complex, National Assembly, Supreme Court and much of the town extend to the
south of the rock.
HANGING: This is one that has all lines but the first indented. A hanging indent is also known as a
hanging paragraph. For example.
Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria. It is located in the Centre of Nigeria, within the federal
Capital Territory (FCT). Abuja is a planned city, and was built mainly in the 1980s. It officially became
Nigeria’s capital on 12 December, 1991, replacing Lagos, which is still the country’s most
populous city.
