Introduction To Fleet Management
Fleet management is a broad concept encompassing a myriad of businesses. The word fleet in fleet
management refers to a group of assets that are owned (or leased) by the same company. There can be
different forms of these assets, such as:
Ships,
Aeroplanes,
Machinery,
Trucks, and
Light passenger vehicles.
A vehicle fleet can also include police cars, couriers, taxis, and rental vehicles. All the individual vehicles
making up a vehicle are known as fleet vehicles. Here, it is important to know that the term fleet
management varies highly among businesses. A business that owns, uses, and leases vehicles in
procurement, maintenance, and management may not use the term fleet management. Another
company that owns a similar number of vehicles can use this term.
