15
Composition initialization
Grading (composition initialization) is an estimation of the oil components ratio as a function of depth.
The initial approximation of the composition is
taken from other experiments (see above).
16
Composition initialization
The resulting distribution of components by
depth is saved to a text file and
can be subsequently used to calculate a
compositional model.
The keyword is COMPVD.
17
Three-phase flash (vapor–liquid–water)
Three-phase flash for gas/oil/water systems is introduced
CO2 may exist in all three phases (as in the CO2SOL keyword)
PVT-dependent water density, viscosity, CO2 content, etc. are calculated
Solubility according to Henry’s law
18
Three-phase flash (vapor–liquid–solid)
Three-phase flash for gas/oil/solid systems is introduced
One designated component may exist in all three phases
The PVT-dependent fraction of solid is calculated
19
CCE experiment: vapor-liquid equilibrium
Allows to set the settings of two phase water-vapor models
CO2STORE. This option models the CO2 + Water system with a possibility of CO2 dissolution in water and evaporation of water. It is
also possible to consider the effect of dissolution of NaCl and CaCl2 salts
GASWAT. This option considers the modeling of the Gas + Water system with calculation of vapor-liquid equilibrium according to the
modified EOS
CO2 + Water system
H2O concentration in gas phase
It corresponds to the CO2STORE keyword, ensuring
modeling of a CO2 + Water system with a possibility of CO2
dissolution in water and evaporation of water
AQCOEF
It corresponds to the GASWAT keyword and helps to model a
GAS + Water system with calculation of vapor-liquid equilibrium
according to the modified EOS
20
Nonequilibrium flash
Nonequilibrium flash is introduced (a counterpart of DRSDT in BO)
New experiments are added: NCCE, RELAXATION, NCVD
The algorithm parameter α can be made a variable for matching
NCCE is similar to CCE,
except that equilibrium settles over some
finite time rather than instantly
21
Plus fraction splitting
Cn+ splitting method: Whitson; Pedersen
22
Lumping
Lumping (creation of pseudo components) is used to decrease the number of independent variables in a model
Group
Components

• EOS parameters
• Viscosity parameters
• BICs
• Nonequilibrium parameter α
