CURRICULUM / SYLLABUS FOR

BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE &
MACHINE LEARNING

BATCH 2024-28
Program Overview:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) aim to imbue machines with human-like
capabilities such as sensing, comprehension, and action. These technologies are rapidly evolving and
reshaping economies and societies worldwide. As the demand for AI applications grows, there is a
pressing need to prepare a skilled workforce for the future. At the same time, the wide-spread interest
of humanity in the development of AI entails technologies that are the state-of-the-art today will be
rendered deprecated and obsolete in the near future, demanding that the aspects of application and
fundamental research are approached in synergistic tandem, where the demands of application catalyze
research in the fundamental domain, while at the same time, innovation in fundamental research aspects
of AI fuel the growth of applications.
It is with the above vision and recognition that the B.Tech program in Artificial Intelligence and
Machine Learning at Bennett University seeks to nurture the next generation of students, who will who
have the potential to revolutionize the AI landcape through a rigorous training in the aspects of
fundamental research and application, for a more inclusive and impactful development of society at
large.
Besides the major subject, the students will have the option of pursuing minor in a range of relevant
disciplines where the advent of AI is already making meaningful impact, or yet to make inroads in, such
as media, law, finance, signal processing, phycology, agriculture, digital healthcare, data science,
quantum information processing, and robotics, there by preparing them to tackle the challenges faced
by the different industrial and academic domians.

Objectives:
The the aim and scope of the B.Tech program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI &
ML) is to equip and prepare students with comprehensive knowledge on the fundamental mathematical
and computational aspects of AI to drive the next generation of novel research in the domain, while
simultaneously accruing practical skills in the current state-of-the-art AI technologies. Through a blend
of theoretical understanding and hands-on experience, graduates will be prepared for impactful careers
across various industries and research domains. They will possess the flexibility to explore diverse
fields such as Defense, Finance Technology (Fintech), Healthcare, Agriculture/Food Processing,
Education, Retail/Customer Engagement, Human-Robot Interaction/Intelligent Automation, Smart City
development, and Accessibility Technology for the differently-abled.
Expected Graduate Attributes:
Upon completion of this program, students will develop the following skills:

1. Understand foundational concepts and gain practical experience with state-of-the-art AI &
ML methodologies.
2. Design, implement, and deploy machine learning applications using structured and
unstructured data types (e.g., speech, text, images/videos).
3. Evaluate the reliability, dependability, and ethical considerations of AI & ML systems.
4. Develop AI systems for complex planning, decision-making, and learning, addressing
domain-specific challenges with reasoned solutions.
5. Create AI applications optimized for resource-constrained environments.
6. Adhere to ethical guidelines and privacy regulations across diverse domains and regions.
7. Plan and manage AI projects efficiently.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completing the B.Tech in AI & ML, students will:

1. Possess deeper understanding of the mathematical and statistical aspects that form the
fundamental pillars of AI with an aim to unravel the “black-box” nature of AI, so as to
develop responsible and cognizable AI frameworks.
2. Master essential AI concepts, including Machine Learning, Inference Engines, Speech
Recognition, Computer Vision, Natural Language Understanding, Robotics, and Human-
Computer Interaction.
3. Integrate human cognition, AI, ML, and data engineering knowledge to design holistic
systems.
4. Possess the understanding of fundamental aspects of AI to drive research towards the
development of next generation AI tools.
5. Develop real-time, robust AI-based systems tailored to specific software, hardware, and data
constraints.
