Each student is expected to submit two titles of business plans/projects
The instructor will choose one and inform the student
The student will prepare business plan based on the given guideline
below
Typical contents of a basic business plan:
Executive Summary - A 1-2 page overview of the key points of the plan. This
should capture the essence and convince the reader to keep reading.
Company Description - Details on the business, including mission, vision,
goals, location, legal structure, products/services.
Market Analysis - Research on the target market, industry trends, competitors,
customer profiles and buying behaviors. This establishes market need.
Operations Plan - How the business will function on a daily basis including
production, operations, suppliers, fulfillment etc. Details on facilities, equipment
needed.
Organization & Management - Bios of founders/owners, organizational
structure, responsibilities, qualifications of management team.
Marketing & Sales Plan - Target customers, pricing, promotional strategies,
sales forecasts and strategies to reach customers.
Financial Plan - Startup costs, 5-10 years projected income statements, cash
flow statements, balance sheets and break even analysis. Assumptions
explained.
Funding Request - Amount of funding needed, how it will be used, funding
options and terms. Exit strategy.
Appendix - Resumes, product photos, letters of support, market research
details, licenses/permits as backup.
The level of detail and sections can vary based on the type/stage of business, but these
core elements help convey the business concept and feasibility to potential investors or
lenders.
Here are more detailed suggestions for the typical page lengths of each section in a
business plan:
Executive Summary:
1 page for new businesses
2 pages for more complex/established businesses
Company Description:
1-2 pages
Market Analysis:
3-5 pages for simple local businesses
5-10 pages for businesses serving regional/national markets
Operations Plan:
2-3 pages for most businesses
3-5 pages if you have complex manufacturing, supply chain, etc.
Organization & Management:
