1. Introduction
Computers interact with users through input and output devices.
 Input devices allow users to send data to the computer.
 Output devices display or produce the results of processing.
Understanding these devices is crucial as they form the bridge between
humans and technology.

2. Input Devices
Input devices enable users to provide instructions and data to the computer
system. These devices can be classified based on their functions, such as text
input, pointing devices, audio input, and biometric devices.
2.1 Types of Input Devices & Examples
A. Text Input Devices
These devices are used to enter alphanumeric characters into the system.
 Keyboard – The most common input device, used for typing text,
commands, and shortcuts.
 Virtual Keyboard – Software-based keyboards used on touchscreens.
B. Pointing Devices
These devices help users interact with the GUI (Graphical User Interface).
 Mouse – Moves the cursor and selects items. Types include optical and
wireless mice.
 Touchpad – Common on laptops; responds to finger movements.
 Trackball – A stationary device with a rotating ball for navigation.
 Stylus/Pen Input – Used on graphic tablets and touchscreen devices.
