EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 25-152
(Executive Order of Suspension)

WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 7(a) of the Florida Constitution provides that the

Governor may suspend from office any county officer for the commission of a felony; and

WHEREAS, Brandon Brown Newsom is presently serving as County Commissioner for

Holmes County, Florida, District 2; and

WHEREAS, on July 15, 2025, Brandon Brown Newsom was charged by Information with

one count of unlawful bail bond activity in violation of section 648.44(2), Florida Statutes, and

one count of aiding or abetting an unlicensed bail bond agent in violation of section 648.30(5),

Florida Statutes, each of which constitute athird-degree felony under Florida law; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the residents of Holmes County, and the citizens

of the State of Florida, that Brandon Brown Newsom be immediately suspended from the public

office which he now holds, upon the grounds set forth in this Executive Order.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RON DESANTIS, Governor of Florida, pursuant to Article IV,

Section 7(a) of the Florida Constitution, find as follows:

• A. Brandon Brown Newsom is, and at all times material was, a County Commissioner

for Holmes County, Florida, District 2.

B. The office of County Commissioner, District 2, Holmes County, Florida, is within

the purview of the suspension powers of the Governor, pursuant to Article IV, Section 7(a) of the

Florida Constitution.
C. The attached Information, which is incorporated as if fully set forth in this

Executive Order, alleges that Brandon Brown Newsom committed felonies under the laws of the

State of Florida.

BEING FULLY ADVISED in the premises, and in accordance with the Constitution and

the laws of the State of Florida, this Executive Order is issued, effective immediately:

Section I. Brandon Brown Newsom is suspended from the public office which he now

holds, to wit: County Commissioner, District 2, Holmes County, Florida.

Section 2. Brandon Brown Newsom is prohibited from performing any official act,

duty, or function of public office; from receiving any pay or allowance; and from being entitled

to any of the emoluments or privileges ofpublic office during the period ofthis suspension, which

period shall be from today until a further Executive Order is issued or as otherwise provided by

law.

Megan Ford, Assistant State Attorney for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida, duly appointed and
designated to ·sign Informations on behalf of Larry Basford, State Attorney, prosecuting for said State of
Florida, in the name and by the authority of the State of Florida, in the County of Holmes, under oath
informs the Court that:

COUNT I: Brandon Brown Newsom, on or about January 2, 2023, in the County of


Holmes and State of Florida, 1id, while a jailer, person employed in a jail, police officer,
employee of a police department or law enforcement agency, committing trial court
judge, employee of a court, or employee of the clerk of a court, sheriff, deputy sheriff,
employee of a sheriff's department, attorneys, person having the power to arrest, or
person who have authority over or coutrol of federal, state, county, or municipal
prisoners, become a bail bond agent or employee of a bail bond agent or agency and
directly or indirectly received benefits from the execution of a bail bond, contrary to
Florida Statute 648.44(2). (F3-Ll)

COUNT II: Brandon Brown Newsom, on or about January 2, 2023, in the County of
Holmes and State of Florida, did, while Brandon Brown Newsom licensed as a bail bond
agent under Florida Statute 648.30, aid or abet an unlicensed person to violate Florida
Statute 648.30, contrary to Florida Statute 648.30(5). (F3 - L1)
