Rack Power Considerations

• In OECA, under “Rack Generation”, there are four options:

- “X11M (512GB DB)”: rack cabling is optimized for 512GB
- “X11M (1.5TB DB)”: rack cabling is optimized for 1.5TB
- “X11M (2.25TB DB)”: rack cabling is optimized for 2.25TB configurations
- “X11M (3TB DB)”: rack cabling is optimized for 3TB configurations
- For X11M-Z Servers, use the 512GB Rack configuration
• In OECA, under “Database Server Generation”, there are five options:
- “Exadata X11M DB (512G)”: database server with 512GB memory
- “Exadata X11M DB (1.5T)”: ”: database server with 1.5TB memory
- “Exadata X11M DB (2.25T)”: database server with 2.25TB memory
- “Exadata X11M DB (3T)”: database server with 3TB memory
- “Exadata X11M-Z DB”: database server with 768GB or 1.125TB memory

• How does the CPQ/Configurator handle the above?

- It is handled in the background, automatically based on the database server chosen.
There is no option for rack-type in CPQ, as in OECA.
- The Exadata system will ship with the proper rack cabling for the selected database server

Rack Power Considerations - FAQ

Q: Why should I use OECA to model my Exadata configuration? Q: Can I mix 2.25 or 3TB memory database servers with 512GB or
- In addition to facilitating the scoping and analyzing of elastic 1.5TB memory servers?
configurations, OECA also validates your Exadata configuration on power - Yes, it is possible. Months or years after the Exadata purchase, customer
requirements, PDU size, weight distribution, etc. requirements may change, and some servers need to be upgraded to 2.25TB
or 3TB memory. Use OECA to model your desired configuration and ensure
Q: Should I model the Exadata configuration I want to purchase in that it is OK with your current rack.
OECA?
- Yes, you must. It will provide you with detailed information on weight, Q: Are the X11M PDU Cabling Tables the same as Exadata prior
usable capacity, PDU size to order, power and cooling requirements, etc. generations?
With this information, the quoting and booking in CPQ/Configurator will go - No, the X11M PDU tables are updated to reflect the greater power demands
smoothly. of the X11M database and storage servers.

Q: Why are there four rack options in OECA for Exadata X10M &
X11M? Prior generations only had one rack option.
- To accommodate the database server with different and larger memory
configurations which have different power requirements.

Q: Why does OECA allow adding a 2.25TB or 3TB database server to

the “X11M (512GB DB) ” Rack when it should force it to use the
“X11M (3TB DB)” or “X11M (2.25TB DB)” rack?
- This option should only be used after the purchase of the Exadata system.
If you purchased a 512GB Rack, but later you have a need to increase the
memory capacity of some of these servers, you can use OECA to model
your desired configuration to ensure that the changes are OK with your
current rack.
