📄 Guide: Crafting an Impressive “Tell Me About

Yourself” Answer
🔰 My Answer:
“Hi Sir/Ma’am, I’m Darshan Gowda. I’m currently a third-year engineering student at
JSS Science and Technology University, Mysore.

From a very young age, I was deeply fascinated by the world of computers.
However, I studied in a residential setup from class 6 to 12, where I couldn’t interact
much with computers. That gap only strengthened my curiosity and led me to
pursue computer science after Class 12.

Since then, I’ve worked on several real-world projects, participated in important tech
events, and served as the Application Development Lead and Flutter Lead in the
Developer Student Clubs for the past two years. These roles helped me build
strong communication and leadership skills.

Technically, I’ve worked with C, Python, Java, JavaScript, and more recently, I’ve
been exploring Agentic AI to keep up with cutting-edge trends.

With this internship/job opportunity, I look forward to learning as much as I can,

applying my knowledge meaningfully, and contributing to the company in every way
possible.”

🧠 Key Insights to Keep in Mind While Answering

1. Don’t Just State Facts — Tell a Story

● Use a narrative that connects your past, present, and future goals.

● Add why you chose your path (like how residential setup influenced your CS interest).

2. Hook the Interviewer Early

● Your first 30 seconds should be engaging. Avoid clichés like "I’m a hard worker…"

● Start with what sparked your interest or a unique experience.

3. Balance Between Personal & Professional

● Include a brief personal touch (like your background or what inspired your field).

● But quickly connect it to your academic/professional journey.

4. Highlight Key Achievements & Roles

● Mention 1–2 impactful roles or projects (like your club leads or real-world work).

● Don’t list everything. Leave space for curiosity — so they ask follow-ups.

5. Demonstrate Growth & Passion

● Show a trajectory: from curiosity ➝ learning ➝ building ➝ leading.

● Mention how you keep yourself updated (Agentic AI, side projects, events).

6. Link to the Role/Company

● Always end with how this opportunity aligns with your learning goals and contributions.

● Express genuine excitement about joining, learning, and contributing.

🛠 Pro-Tips:
● ✅ Practice your answer aloud — keep it under 90 seconds.
● ✅ Don’t memorize word-by-word; memorize structure.
● ✅ Adapt slightly based on the company or interviewer profile.
