Assignment II

S.No Question Mark CO

A 10.2 m wide highway passes through flat open country and has
a horizontal curve of 400 m radius. The design speed is 80 km/h.
1 Find the required superelevation, extra widening and length of 15 2
transition curve. [Take length of wheel base = 7 m and assume
pavement is rotated about outer edge]
Sketch a pavement section with bituminous layer(s), granular
2 20 3
base and GSB showing the locations of critical strains.
Describe various parameters for estimating the design traffic (in
3 terms of cumulative standard axle load repetitions) for the 15 3
selected road for a given design period.
